  1. I agree with others - he has been poorly advised in making these statements and at best they show a lack of discipline and respect for the club and his team mates. It looks like goodbye time to me because it's hard to see him playing among the team now as part of a committed bunch for the season ahead.
  2. Jhon Viafara was my favourite. Played with a lot of passion - unforgettable performance in the play offs v Derby a few years back.
  3. You have to have to hand it to Kevin Phillips - he's been a prolific striker and scorer of goals over a long period.
  4. One way or the other it seems like Oxo has played his last game for Saints - if the money is spent bolstering the squad then it's a great result for SFC.
  5. I agree. Jamie R. gave his all while at the club and 'Arry was on a hiding to nothing with Lowe releasing nothing in the way of cheque book support. From memory, Ricardo Fuller at 90k was about the only purchase sanctioned by Lowe. I understand the negativity towards Redknapp snr, but really he didn't have a chance at the time.
  6. Loved his back heel to Lambert leading up to the penalty recently - against Brentford was it? And his goal against Blackpool in the cup was top drawer.
  7. Incredibly bad time to go tits up isn't it !!!!
  8. Thank you so much Saint John - down here in Australia, frustrated at not being able to get Saints Player going - the Radio Solent replay is going to be great - thanks again.
  9. Chez; great to read that you got a ticket late in the day. Thanks for your reports and comments throughout the season....enjoyable and informative.
  10. Agree with this - Alan Pardew has been a significant contributor to this wonderful achievement - he set the foundations in place and Nigel, you have finished the job in great style
  11. And up and down in several other countries too!! Go well Saints today......if we win tonight those memories of Man U sending us down to the Championship on the last day of the season 5 or so seasons ago can finally be put to rest.
  12. Worth staying up for - 2:05 am in Australia. What a win; the signs are good for promotion!
  13. Agree with every word of this - just hope Nigel does too.
  14. Agreed, and you can include Nathan Dyer in that category - he's had an outstanding season for Swansea.
  15. Well both these lads are going to enjoy living on the Whitsunday Coast - it is beautiful. If they display the talent showed in the UK for Saints I'd say they could be picked up by one of the three "A" Leagues clubs in Queensland - one of those clubs, Queensland Roar has gone 24 games without defeat.
  16. This was my observation too - we were lucky in the end to get a point. Our main attack seemed to rely on hoofing high to Lambert; no width or speed on the right which made us vulnerable to their attacking runs on the flank. It seemed as if we set up and played for a draw; N'guessan looked so sharp and dangerous last week with his pace out wide - this week apart from an early surge or two from Oxo we were narrow and lacked pace and cutting edge up front.
  17. Ive got nothing against JW but looking back he was terrible for us in the Championship which tells you something about George Burley's "eye" for a player - I think JW played most of his football under Burley, and it stands as a reminder of how bad a manager he was for us.
  18. Did our Nigel (Pearson) bring him to Leicester?
  19. Agree completely. There's a big difference between selling our best young players to stay afloat and taking a big payout for someone like AOC which will finance the continued strength of the club.
  20. Good player who was hampered by knee injury when with us, but I thought he did enough to be retained - there's quite a list of attacking players we've let go who have kicked on.....Fuller, Blackstock, Best, Dyer....I really hope Puncheon is one who doesn't slip away.
  21. JP is a skilled player, and it is puzzling how so many slag him off. Watching Nathan Dyer for Swansea the other day reminded me of the criticism and impatience he was subjected to - he was impressive in the Championship with his trickery and pace, and JP will be veryeffective at that level to if he stays and is given the chance.
  22. "Baby, please don't go"
  23. Great highlights indeed. As others have mentioned, Rickie looked very involved and effective; Barnard lively; Guly's goal sublime; Puncheon looked classy - I hope Nigel had a word with young AOC for shooting rather than supplying JP for an easy tap in late in the game.
  24. Terrific news - and well done to AL for committing now rather than waiting for the season's end. He ticks most criteria you would want in a player for SFC - skillful; down-to-earth; British born and a local lad.
  25. Good Manager - hope he does well at Newcastle. He brought SFC back from oblivion with astute signings and a turnaround of culture and attitude.
