I've voted for Coco because it was my goal of the season, Alli's was a thing of beauty and Kane's was excellent BUT I think Vardy will win as it is the season in one strike

Having seen MoTD2 I can see how the ref can say no to both the handballs but the big decision they never discussed was the push by Morgan on Clasie for the goal. Looking carefully at the replays you can just spot Morgan's push in the back. It looked very odd live from 100 yards away and now I know why

Re the WHam Chairman's tweet, perhaps Charlie Austin's agent quoted £100k a week when they enquired in the Summer. Doesn't mean that's what was agreed - also CA may not have been keen on a stay in East London so ratcheted up his wage demands. Lastly we've given him a 4 and a half year deal meaning any 'signing on' fee will be spread over more seasons and so less 'per week' as the press (and us) like to describe any deal. All of which means only those genuinely 'ITK' will know how much he is on - though it will be soooo much more than any of us 'experts' on here

The last 38 league games we have got 48 points. 21 points from our last 17 in 14/15 and 27 from 21 this season. Not great but basically mid table. We should be doing better but we're not sh--e

We've only got 4 days to go before we get the chance to see another Saints win (or draw) (or loss)

Well I attended the game and we were NOT dreadful. Palace were stronger than us for about twenty minutes at the start and after that we actually shaded it. Trouble is at the moment our defence has at least one collective brain-fade each half and our forwards can't shoot straight. These are things that need sorting ASAP but certainly don't warrant the amount of bed-wetting I have seen since yesterday. The reporter can think Palace deserved their win - but I know that if Long scores in stoppage time lots of us would have been able to argue convincingly that we deserved a point. So no need for anger (or hard luck stories) lets just see if we can get something from Spuds next week

Doesn't look like a well sourced article to me but more like an attempt, possibly by Mane's agent to whip up the price and/or any salary following a move. He's undoubtedly a very good player but £40m would be plenty enough to persuade me to sell

Nigel Adkins Interview (Saints YouTube channel, Monday)
Eric The Red replied to jawillwill's topic in The Saints
Finally got round to watching it in full. Great times great guy, even if not the world's greatest manager he was just right for us at the time and that's all that matters. Best part of the video was reliving that win at Brighton :) -
Saints opt not to take up right-to-buy on Eljero Elia
Eric The Red replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Have to agree with most other posters. Yes he won the game at Newcastle but he really has had minimal or even negative impact when used as sub particularly in the away games. Can't believe some of the youth squad could do any worse. I would rather spend the money on a couple of lower league players with potential and hope that at least 1 of them comes off -
Top 10 dirtest players in this season PL
Eric The Red replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
I agree the stats are fundamentally flawed. The dirtiest player is the one that commits the most fouls/collects the most bookings per minute, or strictly speaking least minutes per foul/booking as even Cattermole can't manage more than 1 foul every 60 seconds! -
Championship, I'd prefer 1 of the East Anglian sides, good trip League 1, Preston - cos they deserve it League 2, Southend - as they're our 2nd team
-
Absolutely agree with the OP. The evidence over the last few games is overwhelming, too many unexplained slips and 'unfortunate' injuries

So, MOTD say we played well and the fans say we were ****e...
Eric The Red replied to swannymere's topic in The Saints
We did pretty well first half and were more than a little un lucky to be behind at half time. After that we just got worse as it went on and, this is where the moaners are right, the substitutions (particularly the last one) really didn't help. Everton's defence played well but if we have any pretentions to being a really top team we can't let Howard get away without making a save in the second half -
Could only get to six myself (bad me) but of course one of them is 'current'

Top top post, now we know what Luis Suarez was trying to do to Ivanovic

Just back from the game and this is my wife's take on our current problems I'd like to make an appeal on behalf of one of our most rare and threatened species; The Southampton Goal Once numerous this attractive creature has been seen only rarely during the last few weeks. Only a few months ago 8 of these were spotted in one afternoon but lately for reasons we don't quite understand yet the numbers of Southampton Goals have fallen drastically leading some to believe they are on the edge of extinction. For that reasons we are appealing to fellow football teams to Donate Now! We will accept any misplaced back passes, dodgy penalties shocking deflections goalkeeping howlers or own goals. Please give generously and give soon before it is too late for the Southampton Goal to make it to the continent next season.

Hooiveld to return and then head to Millwall?
Eric The Red replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
No hatred towards Jos from me. Great asset when we needed it. Will always be one of my favourites from the Championship promotion campaign BUT sadly not up to being a premier league regular. -
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Because we were so good?
-
Trying to be realistic 6th with 67 points letting my heart rule my head 3rd on 75

Also chipped in with a donation. A very good cause and a top man doing it.

God was it 20 years ago? Now I feel really old but very happy as I was there back then and at Upton Park today

LOL Only 2 more relegation places to be decided then

Agree 100% with this Pat. Lallana was a very lucky boy to learn his trade at SFC. I am afraid that in the big bad world he will find life a lot tougher! Lif goes on and our 'all new' team - whatever it ends up looking like - but the events this summer will make me even more cynical and disinterested in the hype. It almost makes me want to be back in the lower divisions where at least the bulls*** factor is lower and the games are just as much fun.
-
If I was a Liverpool fan I would be very confused, unless he is seen as a makeweight in a deal for lallana. Although I admit to as much 'love' for Rickie as the next Saints fan I see no logic in the deal for the scousers. I can't see him starting unless they have injuries. He will only take a small portion of their free kicks and penalties and he simply hasn't the pace to work well in their attack. No day seems to go by without Liverpool telling the world they have bid for some player or another. Is it me or do they seem like a club who are going to end up with a random collection of players they won't know what to do with?
