  1. have all the pessimists not thought that if we win today we will not need the bus anymore and could just park the ****ing thing in front of the goal for the walsall match :-)
  2. possible the definitive defining moment of the season has to be the win away at bompey, not for any self satisfying putting them in there place(thou that was great!) but if you look at the table before the game and the effect a loss could have had and may have made the season look very different. then you add the comeback against franchise fc in a similar scenario you get to the point where we all start to believe we could do this
  3. this guys got it! watch the program again there is a defender out of shot that looks to be in line with guly before the camera moves on. i think the lino gave it offside because he doesnt understand the rules, guly was well offside but came back onside before the pass was made, simples
  4. horses for courses, NA is doing the right thing in this area and picking the right player for the right match.
  5. if i remember correctly from last year you could scatter the ashes onto the pitch.
  6. this game is big purely for the reason that the rochdale game looks a tougher prospect and going into That game with a little bit of pressure off will be a big help for that game. win here coupled with a non huddersfield win puts us 2nd and would mean that any points from the rochdale game would put the other 2 in a position were they almost certainly have to win their remaining 5 games to get second as our run in after the brighton match looks very winnable!
  7. largely this is right, the players tried(badly for most of the game) to pass the ball into positions held by a 442 formation, this combined with the front 5 floating around meant most balls were misplaced. should have been changed earlier but proved to be soon enough. the comments about RL are also right, he needs to be told to play more central for 90% of the game and for god sake when will a manager of our club learn to get someone to attack the far post! not really trying to moan after a win just my opinion
  8. people may joke but any form of dropped points combined with a huddersfield win makes the 3 games in hand look very 'must win'!
  9. the winning ticket is 00731 winning £350 anyone else think £350 is a rather round number concidering the money is supposed to go 50/50 and the winning ticket for the first draw is 731?
  10. without wanting to sensationalize this and even with Orient losing yesterday anything less that 3 wins before the away trips to orient and rochdale could prove to be the final nail in the automatic promotion coffin. Peterborough are a serious threat and if they win on monday then the above mentioned 3 wins is not really optional in my opinion as the two away trips are going to be very tricky!
  11. dont know who but id push the boat out and get a cast iron starter if we can. might just make the difference.
  12. morgan is as unsuited to L1 as he was too young for the championship when we were there. for me at home its morgan and chaplow at home every time and away from home will depend on the opposition and pitch as too whether you play morgan or hammond either way in L1 we have all to often struggle to control the middle of the pitch and is probably the most important area of the team to improve with a loan signing, gobern as backup is really poor quality.
  13. i think its age when the competition or qualifying starts i.e. European championships
  14. its probably right to say we should go back the the red and white strips but maybe some version of the sash could be used for the away kit in future years, yellow with a blue sash maybe.
  15. Turkish, doesnt the last part of this come under the general term of 'motivation' i agree profesional sports men shouldnt need the big motivation speach but here we are discusing it, so that suggests our group of players may need it, unfortunately.
  16. i agree with the sentiment of the original poster, the players are letting us down. but i think its rare that you can get a group of people as large as a football team/squad to organize anything, it always takes a strong figure head to take charge and direct all the resources available, a manager if you will. this is something weve lacked for a long time. AP was a good manager in creating a squad but failed to motivate at keys times in last season and often failed personally on match days, not worth sacking on performance issues but would have a grade of could do better. along with having a great understanding of football a manager must have a huge set of brass balls, to both direct and motivate what is increasingly a bunch of pre-Madonnas at all levels of football but to able to question himself, admit he ****ed up and make the immediate changes that may effect a game(not the like for like we always have). in my mid we had for a short while this person in nigel person and as fans whether we know it or not we have rued the day the club let him go! we need another but can we get one under the current club set up, i dont know. other than that sack the players - lol
  17. did the norwich players not get booed at that game, was it not the game where a season ticket holder returned his ticket to the dugout? the players bottled it simple as, then had the game by the scruff of the neck and let it slip to what looked like a very average team. FYI i didnt boo
  18. i agree that hammond was the right player at the right time, he was a worthwhile addition last season and often was the driving force in the team. Id class him as a solid captain but i believe that is more to do with his effort on the pitch rather than leadership skills. the problem i have is i think dean is playing at his level, he could play championship football but i dont think he would be a guaranteed regular at that level hence why as we are building for the future the club might be looking for someone as a replacement rather than cover for his position. if no player comes in in that mold then theres no reason to change his role as captain on the pitch, if we do that player may need to take on the captains role as well as i dont see any other first team player providing the voice we need on the field
  19. the way things are going it wouldnt surprise me if you werent allowed to see any games with your season ticket. maybe if you payed some sort of fee for having someone to work the turnstile on the day you may be allowed.
  20. the question maybe how long do we give KD. bart needs games under his belt and soon, . Say we get 2 more seasons of good quality keeping from KD we should have had our stabilizing season in the championship and be ready to push for the premiership. i wouldnt say bart is ready for that position yet, let alone the premiership so there has to come a time when you either stand up and say bart is going to be the saints #1 for the future or you get someone else in who both replaces kelvin and bart in the team. If bart is to be the #1 then he has to play a number of games in league 1 to get him ready for what is to come, cherry pick some home games in the league as well as the cups in my opinion.
  21. Its very basic retail skills, get the people in the shop and then sting them for everything you can get. Give people a good price on an expensive computer and then sell them the aftercare package and they go away thinking they have got a good deal! If a business has no sales it can make no money no mater how much you cut costs, if a club has no fans in the ground it can make no money! This is the first rule and you ignore it at your peril.
  22. apart from being incredibly bad customer service, despite in many eyes destroying the feel good factor that has been developed over the season the removal of the payment plan, which i have only used once FYI is incredibly short sighted. NC maybe a great business man but lets treat it as a retail business model. The one thing you dont try to do in retail is prevent people coming through the door of your shop! Are you trying to tell me that any cost incurred by the club by offering a payment plan will not be made up ten fold by the money made from concessions inside the ground on 23 games. The trick is to make the tickets as cheap as possible to get 30000+ fans in the ground every game without always selling out. The club should be putting the efforts into inproving the the clubs merchandising range and service levels at the food stands in the concourses (which is incredibly poor, i for 1 dont often bother). This is where you make money!
  23. that is a view point, but should we be blinded by the world class work he does to the point were you ignore, if you look carefully the simple saves he fails to make. he is a great servant of the club, capable of producing world class saves but im not sure he saves us more points that he gains, especially when you take into account he has a game where he makes loads of point making saves, then 3 or 4 when hes largely missing. if i was pardew, this wouldnt be my simplest selection on the team sheet and as such i bow to his better knowledge and daily involvement. anyway at the very least kelvin deserves saints fans respect for what he gives to the club, both on and off it!
  24. not going to argue with the main point of the thread, it an obvious issue, ill just add one more point why cant we score more goals(or even create decent chances) when we normally control the games for the other 75% of the 90 mins. this is the biggest problem, im pretty sure with a 2 or 3 goal lead the defense would be much more adept at seeing out the last 15-20 mins. just my thoughts of course!
  25. i paid my money, spent the time to go there! when i see a player 15 yrds in the opponents half turn round, pass the ball backwards followed to 2 further back passes back to the keeper(which was over hit and wide so that KD could only spoon it into touch), none of which was under pressure if want to boo i will, and when i hear you guys say that ill also tell you to shut the **** up!
