  1. that looks like it is the #1 starting line up(putting a lot of faith in JP but the thread is best 16) bench you can start with bart, add martin/harding(unless further quality addition). the last 3 would be very subjective, i think 2 are chaplow and guly due to versatility and then 1 from and lee sdr. hammond, holmes and the youngsters being the backup to the regular 16. that puts barnard, forte, dickson, seabourne as senior players that have no future at the club and id add to that connelly, jaidi and butterfield for next season
  2. here is my effort of a song to the tune of 'two by two' were heading to the premier league with tadanari lee he comes from the land of the rising sun, we love the japanese when he get the ball he scores a goal he thinks that pompeys a ****ing **** hole and we all start singing for tadanari lee
  3. alpine if it really does bother you why dont you help yourself by not responding to every post that has a different view to you, maybe just accept that is there view and you have stateted yours and if you really want to have a rant with individuals use the private message function. this may prevent valid topics becoming 20 page threads that has no substaince and that puts off many users on this forum who have become as previously mentioned 'readers' rather than 'users' contributing. as for the rest of you why dont you take the same advice and stop encouraging him, you are at least 50% on the problem, then maybe use the same advice on the others who are classed th same as alpine and we may get a forum were everyone feels they can have a point of view and become more active in the discussions
  4. it 100% had an effect on the game, there spoiling throughout the 95mins never allowed us to get going(not withstanding another poor performance) if the ref had put a stop to it from the start, to which there were many instances that he could have for one point they wouldnt have had 11 players on the pitch for the last 1/4 of the game, if morgan can get booked for persitant fouling(even thou most wernt fouls) then there centre back should have been off even before the ref pulled him to one side and told him to calm down just because he was on a yellow!
  5. filling the coke vending machine in the old club shop at notarf and putting a pannini saints squad photo on the inside of the door!
  6. two strikers, 1 speedy to start(maynard) and 1 back up to lambert(Jutkiewitz as hes will be much cheeper than j-rod) right midfield/winger, im really of the belief that snodgrass would be perfect although phillips was a real danger on sat. centre back, ??? and then it depends on you view on the goalkeeping side, ive never been that big a kelvin fan and have been a big advicate of barts but his 'bottle' for the game was really exposed on the weekend and im not sure he will ever recover mentally while with us all imho
  7. i dont see any smiley winky things so i take i that might be a serious comment, if so both parts are silly comments we are nowhere near far enough through the season to think we are dead certs for promotion bristol have got a bit of form with there new manager and will not be easy hull have never been pushovers and are as much of a team then individuals as we are making them a very tough proposition balckpool are no mugs and can beat anyone on there day and seem to have a habbit of not getting beat which is a worry plus i personally am getting really worried that we could go to the skates and lose! none of this takes into account how stong some of the chasing teams areso any talk of promtion before january should result in an 'infraction' and barring from the site until promotion is hopefully assued! it will get tougher next year so unless we have a 15 point gap over 3rd by then its all to play for and we should just enjoy it
  8. the ref gave the second yellow as much for the fact that the first yelow should have been a red! oh and the fergies are cocks!
  9. as said many times before with nigel its horses for courses, morgan was probably the first of the names on the midfield sheet last night simply because WHam stated they were likely to overload the midde of the park and morgan has the spacial awareness and passing range to unlock that type of side. id read no more into it than that
  10. really had a good game last night, improved on the little niggles we had in his first few games like clearing the ball away from danger rather than just getting the ball away from the attacker, good commitement and positioning throughout and add in the goal well worth the MOM. After the game made an obvious rallying call for the team to go and salute the northam which to me was a show to us fans and the club that he wants a seat on the bus for the long term. overall i like the idea of extending the loan to the end of the season just to see how he reacts to us having a sticky patch where things arent so rosy but is looking like he could be an unexpected solution
  11. the biggest reason why this month maybe a pivotal 1 is because of the january transfer window. being top now means that for the club management promotion is a nice thought, go into january still in the top 2/3 it because a realistic option and may mean money will be spent in the window to make it happen rather than see how it goes and enjoy the ride. to compare and contrast octobers games to novembers is like chalk and cheese so if we come away this month with 3 wins and a draw(inc watford) we go into november still in the top 2 at least and a very winnable fixture list in november. if we have a bad spell we still have a strong points total already and have little concerns for the season but plans for spending arent made in january they are made much earlier so if we are still top mid november january could be quite exciting. Overall for the rest of october we have everything to gain and nothing to lose, so lets just enjoy it
  12. to answer the original post how do we know if if any of the deals done are bad, all of them are 'undisclosed' so we have no idea if we have overpaid or undersold!
  13. all these amount being thrown around for a two players that are little known and totally unproven at the top levels and then this deal is done today http://www.skysports.com/story/0,,11727_7102700,00.html anyone else think we have missed a trick big time?
  14. if you look at the movement of chaplows leg i think he made a decision that he could get away with it, obviously couldnt and right to be red carded
  15. ive had that when it messed up when i tried to enter the seasons results in one go, a lot went to a 'saved' 0v0, when i tried to re enter a result and clicked save it didnt change the prediction but did remove the saved tag, then my next attempt to save the correct predicted score worked.
  16. no thats the genius of the goal, most players wold have been thinking just smash it and its goal of the season but le god thought, even after the amazing skill before 'im going to do the keeper with my eyes' and casually pass it in the net. the only thing better would have been while the keeper was sitting on his arse he walked it to the goal line stood there and took a bow!
  17. to say that Adkins is the best manager since WGS is a bit silly looking at the list, probably 3 other names that would be in contention for that tag, but anyone who knows anything about football will know that its not as simple as that. If you were to ask if Adkins is the best 'fit' as a saints manager since WGS you would probably get a positive answer with maybe only nigel Pearson giving him a run for his money(given how short a time he had here) his tenure has coincided with new owners(relatively), playing in a lower league allowing more success etc but all in all he gives the impression that he has a vision that fits with the current owners and the supporters and given time could go down as one of the best managers the club has had, all needs time and above all a little bit of luck.
  18. very underwhelmed and even more so that all the players pictured are all players we know about!
  19. as im sure you are employed or have been employed you will know that what an employee says is 'busy' or 'too much to do' and and what is actually 'busy' or 'too much to do' are never the same thing :-)
  20. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_6990960,00.html Jimmy Bullard yes not a great age, maybe concerned with wages and what it could do to squad but a fit Bullard playing in front of morgan would be a top notch signing + he a charactor that can really get the dressing room going
  21. first person to get it almost spot on although id rate a fit holmes as more than adequate cover with dickson. so id add another CM(i.e 2) as i dont think either hammond or chaplow can take us to the top levels and if alex goes id be looking at a starting RM. 6 signings looks right with 3 of them for playing 30+ games, thats if the target is to go for the top 6.
  22. anybody who watched the play off match(swansea/forrest) will tell you he is far to slow to play at the upper levels of the NPC, his footwork as with hammond is far too slow and we will struggle starting with either of those 2 next year.
  23. he may not have blistering top speed but he acceleration is rapid, played high up the pitch this is a potent weapon for a winger and he likes to run at players and beat them either in or outside them. his injury record speaks for itself but if fit even in the NPC i can see him being one of the first names on the bench and one of the impact players nigel like to put on midway through the second half.

    Hammond

theres no doubt there, im sure ive seen a few last ditch blocks where hes got no idea where its going to hit him but hes at his level as a starting player, he would i assume he will take over the role of paul wotton as the game closer where his limitations on the ball wont be so much of an hindrance and his commitment will be a benefit

    Hammond

his footwork is too slow passing is very inconsistent, but too often poor too slow across the ground positioning defensively is appalling for a captain i see very little in the way of organizing the team on the pitch if it wasnt for the fact he has a great work ethic he shouldnt be anywhere near the starting 11 and everyone would be on his back. believe it or not for a promotion winning team our midfield has been given the run around in most of our home games if it wasnt for a good defense and a lack of quality in attack throughout the devision we would have struggled to get in the playoffs. he may be getting exposed by the overall team tactics i.e playing with wingers and them not getting back and tucking in when defending but if we stay as we are in the NPC we will consed between 60-70 goals next year. he will be at best 3rd choice behind morgan and the number 1 CM we have to buy to compete next year. nothing against the guy and he will get the standing ovation from me tomorrow for getting us promotion but hard decisions have to be made for next season. all IMHO of course
