  1. Any other Saints in HK? Just realised us vs skates is going to clash on the tv with Man Utd then the Liverpool game, gonna be tricky finding a bar to watch it in.
  2. Not strictly related to watching the game on TV in Soton but......bloody 'ell, just realised the game clashes with QPR vs Man U and then Villa Vs Liverpool. I'll never my local to show it. Damn!
  3. Form and home advantage says them. I think they can bully us. Skates by two unfortunately.
  4. I'm sure we let them win that one easily in an attempt to lull them into complacency for the cup final game.
  5. As mentioned in the post quoting the WHU fan, I too have wondered if we are already currently playing at or near our best. We can argue we have room for improvement in our away form. However I wouldn't expect us to improve our points per game ratio from here on in. Clearly there are teams in this division we would expect to see an improvement from. If we can keep it up as we are obviously we would be ok but it is rare for a team to storm through any division. Plenty of brown trousers moment to come I'm sure.
  6. I think football fans in general are increasingly disillusioned with what is going on at the top of our game. Those in power need to be mindful of that. It's not all about having 'the best league in the world' as they like to bang on about, being competitive in the champions league or even a successful national side. There is more to it than the "big 4", or whatever it is these days.
  7. I didn't know that.
  8. Perhaps it's Danny Fox..?
  9. How about using the theme from the 'Double Deckers' for a song?
  10. He feels like a Leicester kind of player to me.
  11. 8 goals in 32 appearances for Everton, I suspect his 'sitters missed' tally is a tad higher and his work outside the box is largely horrible. Vastly overrated imho. I recall Moyes subbed him once for not putting enough effort in. Would be very disappointed if we were in for him.
  12. ........or Ron Davies, Terry Paine and Nick Holmes for that matter. Far from ordinary.
  13. Where's the thrill if we were guaranteed to win the playoff final? In that case might as well just celebrate now
  14. I know it's off topic but sorry but I have to say it....amazed that some people are still getting the name of our manager wrong.
  15. First away from the Dell was the 1979 League Cup final. I stood behind the goal on a 'stool' I had made from a few pieces of chipboard. My abiding memory of that was when Forest scored their fans silently erupted at the far end of the stadium and there was a fractional time lag before their cheer reached us.
  16. Yes, I think next summer could be a very interesting time to be a Saints fan. If we are still in L1, AP should have a very good idea of what needs to be done to get promoted, being champions should be a realistic target. If we have managed to get promoted this term, how will AP 'churn' the team to make us competitive in CCC? I would say most managers can build one competitive team, but for me, the mark of a good manager is to have the ability and appetite to rebuild your team a number of times. Questions for the future indeed and I'm certainly enjoing watching things develop right now. Beats being Premier League also-rans?
  17. Seems that the consensus from the 'realists' is that we will still be in League One next season. The 'devils advocate' in me is wondering then if it is really worth busting a gut to get out of the division this season. Could it be argued that we quietly consolidate and keep our powder dry for next season. Then we could go out full speed from the off and push hard all season. For example, I don't know the stats here but is it common for a striker to have three good seasons in a row? Why doesn't Ricky have a breather this season and give us +25 next when it will really count. Crazy nonsense or pragmatists delight? Tin hat on (we need a smily for that)
  18. Could we win half of our remaining games? I don't see why not. Throw in the usual mixture of draws & defeats we could reach mid 60's in points. Not enough but, if we win slightly more than half, say 20 games instead of 17 we could get ourselves into the low 70's. That would give us a chance.
  19. Not sure that this gelling argument holds much water in the context of a match against Yeovil. Surely a bunch of strangers could beat them?
  20. So the toss is the pivotal point of the match? We better get a psychic as a captain!
  21. Although the Poles are streaks ahead of most other strikers in this league we haven't seen too much of their silky skills of late. However, if we lose either it will be vidal for AP to get replacements in to add some shine to an otherwise dull start to the season. I would be really ticked-off if he didn't.
  22. Yeah, well if he goes, he goes. Be it Watford or Reading, - you're just splitting hairs.
  23. I think the level we are playing at probably is an important factor. There is enough dross kicking around without importing more from further afield.
  24. This is exactly what we need to be doing - buying the best players from this league. They should fall within our budget and be should also be good enough for the league above. Given that players always score against their previous club I suggest we buy one player from each of our rivals and then go for 1-0 wins.
