  1. He is a top guy very sad for him. Hope to see him back on a pitch playing at the same level next season
  2. He also didn't score 74 goals for us like it claims!
  3. Lets judge it when the window has closed. Who knows a good result at the weekend and a few decent signings and the mood in the camp may change. I must say I was disappointed by Ron's comments last night. How we can blame the officials when over the two games we can have no complaints I do not know. I hope he gets his mojo back for Sunday and we can then progress and concentrate on the season ahead. A few good signings and lets hope we can finish top half.
  4. Clyne and Davis both have black Range Rovers. Lambert also had a nice one. Maya doesn't drive.
  5. I would say no, not on financial or form reasons but because he is a very big player for us and a role model to a lot of the young players and this could upset the great togetherness we have. I would rather wait until the summer after the World Cup when and make a decision. I think people forget how much of a leader he is for us on and off the pitch. What is £8m when we have spent £30m on Gaston and Osi and they are both being given time. I would rather gamble on a good second half to the season and then if we do sell accept £4-6m in the summer if it is right for the club to move SRL on.
  6. Saints transfer activities have nothing to do with the media team. I would be very suprised if we signed anyone but it has happened before where a deal has been concluded and then announced the next day. I would think that Lee will be mutually terminated in the next week as will 'Darnhard'. Sharp will be difficult to offload. Actually don't think we need anyone we have enough talented wide players in the youth ranks I would rather give a chance.
  7. Statistics don't tell the full story. At least 3/4 times he played a simple short pass that was intercepted fair play he won it back a couple of times but against better teams we will get caught on the turn. He did have a good game and adds good physical possession but I want to see him carry the ball through a few challenges and open the play up. Makelele was fantastic at breaking play up for Lampard et al to build play with and I don't have a problem with Wan doing that but I think he can offer more than that.
  8. I actually thought we were quite poor. We looked one dimensional and didn't have a plan B until the last five minutes when the direct approach one us the free kick we scored from. Wanyama looked good in the tackle but gave the ball away to much, thought JwP was good but we need him playing further up the field and also central. Thought Lallana had moments but didn't really offer width or look willing to take defenders on the outside. We have to play more direct against teams who are happy to sit behind the ball otherwise we just go side to side. I thought we missed the width Clyne gave last season on the overlap. In truth Sunderland were poor but we need o play a lot better at home against the weaker teams against the top five different story. Lets hope we sign a winger.
  9. There are loads of reasons why we won't sell out that have already been mentioned. Our August home games rarely go above 30k in the BPL don't panic support the team however you can and enjoy the game.
  10. It does look like the '#' and 'FC' have been added to the SAINTS that was already there. But when the stadium is full and rocking who cares?!
  11. aap3 signed the deal when we were in L1 with a good chance of going up. It's fair to say they weren't expecting us to get back to back promotions and end up in the Premier league for 2 seasons. Both parties were looking to move away from the agreement but we all know this didn't materialise. Next year I expect aap3 will sponsor the Saints Foundation and possibly the development squad.
  12. If we don't sign another striker or winger I expect to see the likes of Rowe and Sinclair get a chance in the cup games to push for a regular spot on the bench.
  13. He has confidence in bringing the young players in. Same was true last season with Shaw and JwP and this year Chambers looked good today. I think you can almost look at the new lads coming in as new signings seeing a as we have let the old guard go the allow the youngsters to be blooded if they are good enough.
  14. Jay Lucas was playing in Australia a few years back but had a series of knee injuries. He was playing in one of the regional leagues out there.
  15. I would say he is guessing like the rest of us. Some of his comments don't stack up. He said earlier that Wanyama flew back from holidays for talks. Other reports from the press guy who knows him said he is still on holiday. If I were a betting man I would side with the guy who knows him not the one who is probably like the rest of us and just wants it to happen. I hope I am wrong and he does sign but I would think its unlikely knowing how the club does it's business that this guy is ITK on not just one but all three rumours he claims to know about...
  16. If you are supposedly ITK why would you not share publically unless you are directly involved in the deal if it is going to happen anyway. To me it simply suggests you know nothing. As the people who have proved to actually know something have shared it and it has happened not just speculated or 'Pm'd'. Is this thread not about people suggesting who we could buy not pretending they know something when they don't? Correct me if I am wrong, but I guess you will probably need to 'PM' in answer to then boast that you have done it...
  17. I was in the aap3 box for the Reading game before Christmas and chatting to the lady who holds the stakeholder relationship with Saints and asked about next season. She said they weren't renewing the shirt sponsorship but would continue to sponsor the Saints charity and other areas of the club. At that time she said they were talks ongoing with other large well known companies in the area as their Directors had been involved in early discussions. If I had to guess I would say P&O but that is only a guess from the information she gave. They have been very active in the local promoting the area. I guess we will know in the next few weeks.
  18. I sometimes get taken into a box by one of our major sponsors and the food and service are always excellent, not as good as when we went in a large corporate area of Wembley for the JPT but not bad.
  19. I think SSN just showed some more footage of the interview with NC as I don't recall seeing this clip yesterday. "It's not one moment it's a consequence moments where you realise what's going on in the team I am ver close to the team. You could see that the team are hungry, hungry to progress, hungry to get to the next step." He goes onto to say that he felt that hunger wasn't satisfied, that was the moment you start thinking about a change. Then talks about keeping the young players in the squad and not selling them like had previously happened.
  20. From the clip shown Cortese says if people dislike me for making what I feel is the right decision then fine I can live with that or words to that effect.
  21. Jay Lucas - the 16 year Australian wonder kid.
  22. Uwe Rosler
  23. Having watched a lot of La Liga and knowing the level of respect that people inside the Spanish game have talked about Pochettino I am confident he is the future. My niggling concern is surfing this season. If we can do that I think we can set about putting in place the foundations for the next 3-5 years. I am also excited by the prospect of his scouting network bring in Spanish players as there is very little value in the UK transfer market on the whole. As Ballague said he knows where there are good players in Spain and which clubs are struggling financially and Pochettino can take advantage of that.
  24. I am probably one of the few who thinks a change was needed but agree the timing is very poor I would have done it in the summer. I like Nigel but think he had taken us as far as he could. No doubt we have treated him poorly but having watched a lot of Espanyol he did have them playing well up until the finances forced him to sell he key players. My concern about this is that Nigel seemed to have a good team spirit and seeing what has happened at QPR with a good group of players and lack of team spirit.
