  1. Farnham is obviously a hotbed of Saints fans
  2. On behalf of those fans who don't live near Southampton... I grew up in Farnham and have always supported Saints, lots of classmates in those days were Man U, Liverpool, Leeds, Chelsea plastics. Used to look forward to my Dad getting the Southern Daily Echo on a Saturday evening (for the Saints news) and the rare treat of going to watch the saints. Weekends were ruined if Saints and my youth football team lost! Have since moved further afield Lincolnshire now via Mombasa. The Internet is a wonderful thing to keep up to date when you live away from Southampton - unfortunately you don't get many fans in local pubs able to chat in depth about Saints. My six year old is an avid Saints fan - we manage to get to two or three games a season. When I lived in Africa the only football available to watch is premier league (Terry Paine!) so I understand how so many supporters from abroad come to develop their 'support'. Some of the previous posters comments that to be a supporter you need to be able to either go to majority of matches or actually come from Southampton seems a tad harsh on those unable to do so. Many fans who live away would like nothing better than to live close enough to be able to see the team regularly.
  3. Must keep him in squad for next game What a beauty
  4. Agree with the above. If you do decide to try it I would recommend taking a bag of surprises etc to help with keeping her happy

  9. Good luck and enjoy I spent four years in Mombasa. I used to see the occasional saints shirt on locals. Be ready for being out of breath if you are playing any matches up country Tourist souvenirs pay about a quarter of original price asked ( unless it's a shop) Cheers Johnny
  10. Burnley have quite a lot in common with us They also have a small slum called Portsmouth nearby Burnley fans very friendly before game last time I went there unfortunately the mutants were out after we beat them - dread to think what they will be like this year if we get two of their players

  16. Davis
  17. Just back from game, a couple of observations Although I thought that seabourne was relatively poor there was no way that jail would have coped with the pace of their front line Think the subs were about right but think that the formation should have been changed to 442 as they always had so much space on our left Would like to see the penalties on tv we gave away our second won by chap low looked very soft If we can get cms then he would definitely add to our team
  18. I work near doncaster and their fans are very keen to keep him
  19. Back on according to sky
  20. I rate Adkins. He is thought highly of by S****horpe fans. Haven't heard anything locally and I'm living in exile up here!
  21. You're not on your own (being a Saints fan in lincs that is) There's also me, a friend from work, my 2 year old boy - he sings super saints anyway and my Dad. Only been to a Saints game on my own for a half - my mate had to leave at half time as Arsenal were on the TV (it was when the ground was pretty flooded and our start got delayed against Leicester; pleased to say that we won and Arsenal lost!)
  22. Lawrie Mac has his place in a lot of our hearts for the accomplishments during his tenure and due to this we will be interested in his thoughts. I was slightly too young to fully appreciate the cup win but the season after Alan Ball gave me a football at the start of a game against Palace. A Palace fan grabbed it off me to leave me crestfallen. I wrote (in my best handwriting) to explain what had happened to Lawrie Mac and sent my programme with the letter - I had it returned with autographs of all the team. Happy days - which are hopefully about to begin again (probably a bumpy road). My sons only two so I'm hoping he will get to see the Saints climb to the top of the tree (or close) again.
  23. When we practice offensive corners against a defence who do we have in goal? Much as I rate Kelvin his ability to come for crosses is not his strongest point. Does this then mean that in practice our corners are effective closer to goal than when in a real match situation. More likely it is due to the lack of height thoroughout the team!
  24. Can the blame for our poor success rate at corners be put at the door of our goalkeepers? I will explain more ...
