Are people more interested in Wednesdays international now?
Saints Fan Dan replied to ozzmeister's topic in The Saints
Of course, it's against the Jocks, I've been wishing for this fixture for years. But now Rickie is likely to play there's an extra incentive. It'll be 3am where I am (China) and if Rickie scores I'll go nuts. -
Born and bred in Hull, my Saints born and bred Dad got me into them and took me to my first game away to Barnsley in 1998 (lost 4-3). There's plenty of family down there so it made it easier to go to home games (after SMS opened though, could never get tickets to The Dell sadly) It's always funny having to explain why someone from Hull supports Southampton. I have to admit I sometimes have a hard time with it myself. I love supporting the Saints and have a perfectly legitimate reason for doing so but at times I wish I supported my local team. Not being anywhere near from Southampton and not being able to go to enough games as I'd like makes me feel like I'm not a 'proper' fan (perhaps I'm reading too many forums). I used to watch Hull City play back when they were at the foot of Division 3 but Saints got there first, they've always been my team and always will be.

So long Chuckle Brothers, we hardly knew ye.

Probably not kicking himself at all really. It may be the SPL but he plays in front of bigger home crowds, plays in the Champions League and wins titles.

A nice joyous occasion when the two sets of fans unite over how much they hate the scumaaaaaaahs, bless em.

Well we do want to be flying up the table don't we?

First game of the season we were delighted to narrowly lose to Man City. Then in the return game we tore them to pieces. In that time we had one of the worst starts to a season possible, turned it around and sacked our popular manager. I was thinking about how the ending to this season hasn't been quite as fun as previous ones and then I remembered, this actually is the first in 4 seasons that we haven't won anything. Still, it's been a great journey, long may it continue.

A crap game between two crap sides, we were bloody awful and have made a right balls up of our run in. But we're safe, so I'm happy. -

This. Is. Torture. -
Until they got promoted in 2003 a whole generation of Saints fans weren't too aware of a big rivalry between the two. It wasn't actually until the 1-0 defeat at Fratton, where every touch of the ball by a Saints player was met with a torrent of abuse, that I noticed how much they hated us. The following season it became more mutual and intensified. But now with the even larger gap between us I find myself cringing slightly at the anti Pompey songs, especially the constant airing of wtfiln. Enough already. Even the last bit in Matt's autobiography makes me cringe where he says "with Saints now on the up and Pompey in decline". He played during a time that we didn't really care about them, why mention them!

Charlton in 98, second game of the season, we lost 5-0 and me and my dad were sat in the home end. All the fans around us having the time of their lives getting their first PL win. I think by the end they figured us out because we pretty much stopped pretending to cheer their goals.

We are Southampton, we sing our own songs. We're Tottenham Hotspur, we'll sing what we want. Ouch.

Swansea 0-0 SAINTS // Post-Match Reaction

I thought there'd be plenty of goals in this but it was a bit of a damp squib in the end. Still, good point and 6 unbeaten. -
Matt Paterson was pretty bad. He provided 2 shocking moments, the first being when he got sent off for trying to decapitate Nemanja Vidic in the cup tie at home to Man Utd and then when he scored against Millwall in our first League 1 game. He had such a shocked expression on his face for both of them as if he thought it wasn't a foul (which it was) and that such a ****e player could actually score a goal.

Liking the bro handshake there. Fully expecting a fist bump picture when Boruc signs.

Cork has been the major difference between our poor start and our revival. But it still would go to Lambert. You always think he's so good already, how can he possibly get any better? And then, just like that, he surpases himself once again. A true Saints legend, our greatest player since Le Tissier, a real hero for younger fans and a top bloke.

My God that was satisfying. Can't see us going down, feel for Adkins but this justifies his sacking. You can stick your Championship title up your arse! -
Yeaaaaaahhhh!!
-
God I hope we smash this noddy club, then they can stick their Championship up their arse.

The paragraph about Lallana is spot on. He has on the whole been pretty poor this season and we've been worse since he's returned.
-
Really wish the fans would stop singing the fat/**** Rickie Lambert songs to grant Holt. It only means he'll bloody go and score.

I don't understand how we've gone back to playing the way we did at the beginning of the season, I thought those days were behind us. That peculiar game at Newcastle knocked all the confidence out of the team, today's outcome was so predictable, we never looked like scoring and when QPR got the odd chance they were always going to take it. The pressing game that got so much praise after Man City has alerted other teams and it's so easy to counter it.

Typical, a usually useless player has a blinder against us, today it's Rob ****ting Green.
