I think he'd go like a shot if everyone got what they wanted in the deal. I've never felt and still don't, that he even wants to be here. Problem for him now is the same thing that got him here in the first place - a great big fat transfer fee and the "they're paying me loads a money" bit. I'm sure several clubs on the continent would have him but not at that sort of money and as we have moved on from being a selling club he's stuck here for the time being. I think he's under serious pressure to perform this season. Last season he was at a bit of a flop imo but many including myself give him the benefit of the doubt that it's his first season and all that with the hope/expectation that this season he nails it. My fear is that he never will for us. As others have said though you can see he's got a bit of class about him and is very talented some people will write him off and he'll go on to be world beater, hopefully with us but I'm not sure. So no one can accuse me of sitting on the fence my view is that I would sell him. It's a close call because it could go either way and I'm not one of these Gashton bashers on here but on balance, from what I've seen, for what he cost, yeah I'd sell him.

Nothing to be proud of mate, put another 0 on it and even then I'd say they've had your pants down.

I wonder whether this adds any weight to the fact that as someone said on the hcdajfu thread we appear to be linked with less exciting names. Sounds mental I know and I'm not going to lose sleep over it but makes you wonder whether they are getting fed up with being messed around by players whos clubs are happy to deal with us. Could be 2 + 2 = 5 of course but it makes sense to me if this was the case.
-
So do I. Shows how far we've come though when what was possibly an unrealistic target once now turns into a 4-6m "pop" obviously remaining contract length has something to do with his lower fee but you get the gist of what I mean.

Doesn't mean anything. Last week Wanyama wasn't going to join - its all ifs and buts. I got a feeling Banega is the most likely.
-
I reckon its Damiao. Whether we get him or not there appears to be no limit to the ambition of NC. Nothing lasts forever so lets enjoy it while we can.
-
Any news on Wanyama or just a million posts about how big Celtic are? which btw is blindingly obvious.
-
This ones a gonna happen IMO.
-
Exactly why this mboard is not a true reflection of all saints fans because on this reckoning their going to sell about 10 shirts. Can't see what all the fuss is about tbh looks alright -miles better than last seasons imo.

Exactly this. I think people are missing the point slightly about the greedy agent thing. We've offered a good sum which has been agreed and I'd assume we would offer a decent package with that. The player doesn't want to come here thats pretty obvious to me and the agent thing is just a stalling tactic to allow any other clubs (hopefully higher profile than us) to come in and do the deal. He would of course be happy to join a lower profile club like us or Cardiff if a) his agent gets a big fat chunk of cash and b) whoever is paying the player the most in the first place but if Arsenal came in tomorrow with a £12 mil bid but stated quite clearly that they are not paying £1 mil agent fees, what stance do you think VW and his agent would take?
-
You also said that if NC sacks Adkins now he's and idiot (or words to that effect) Nothing would surprise me now knowing what NC is capable of.
-
I would imagine NA was on a minimum of £500k.

Early days but could you see the changes with MP tonight?

Glass half full and all that I thought it was an excellent performance last night. As some have said prob no different to how it would have been with NA, too early to tell but after all the fuss that has gone on, I was really chuffed with that. We're a totally different team to what we were a few months ago and I've got a sneaky feeling this just might turn out alright. -
I think there's more to it. I wonder if NC wanted this guy to come in as defensive coach and NA didn't like it. They had a fall out agreed to part company? The decision is so mental that there must be more to it than replacing NA with this guy.
-
Not often I'm totally stunned but I honestly feel as if someone has died. W T F ? I could almost understand it if it was a big name but this is taking the ****

"Saints considering Mauricio Pochettino" - Daily Mirror

Exactly this. I'm ashamed to say I probably would have sacked him by now because we were going nowhere with him. To his credit, he has turned it around and you can tell just by looking at him on the box, he's a totally different character to the one clinging onto his job a few months ago. Come on NC you've played it right so far, don't **** it up now. -
Very much this.
-
Ha, Hilarious What the "footballing world" think is irrelevant to NA position, it's NC that matters. I am convinced he's only still here because NC doesn't know or cant get who he wants in. Hardly a vote of confidence from NC. Do you think he's happy losing 8 of our first 11 games? Saying NC is happy for him to stay at the moment is true of course, but I think it's a bit like saying NC decides not to sack him at the moment. NA is still here either way but the end result remains the same.
-
Like I have said before, I think he is already a gonner. It's starting to turn into a bit of a pipe dream for some that if we lose on Saturday we just keep NA becasue we're all behind him and the fans love him and all that. If we lose this game people should ask themselves where do you draw the line? When is enough, enough? We are going to be relegated. If he loses this then I will go from hoping he turns it around (been saying that for 2 months) to hoping he's sacked because this clearly isn't working. At this rate it will be March 2013 and people will be saying he will turn it around and such like when we are 12 points adrift at the bottom. Mental.
-
Tell that to NC when he sacks him.
-
I don't care what anyone says, Adkins time at this club is up. Almost.
-
No we should not get a new manager in because that is the worst thing we could do. We should keep the good bond that NA has with all the players because team spirit and all that are far more important when we get relegated. The fact that some of our best players will go and we will start over again gets forgotten, as long as we don't rock the boat we'll be alright. Right?
-
Exactly this. Even if we won our next 3 games I still wouldn't expect NA to be retained and I think it's more a lack of replacement than anything else holding NC back. Adkins time is up and he knows it to - shame really. As for PDC, I would give him a month tops before he is sacked, has a fight, walks out or any other combination of those.
-
Shame for the club, shame for the fans and a shame for NA but it appears the Adkins journey is over. Thanks for the good times Nige but time to move on.
