  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VLA0tg5yI0 Not long now.... According to a quote on the Beeb website: "Hollywood director Zack Snyder has promised his adaptation of cult graphic novel Watchmen will be faithful to its source." I hope so....
  2. Similar kind of reaction when I got attacked by a dog when I was out running near the Muni golf course. I literally ran about 400yds with a f***in' dog hanging off my arse. I 'phoned the police about it when I got in (dripping blood all over the living room carpet, my arse, running shirt and shorts in tatters) and was told it was my own fault for running too close to the owners.... Sorry, little off topic, but I've had cars broken into and I feel your pain Hamster....Sympathy to you.
  3. 0-3 I fear....
  4. Is this from running? For the top half, don't wear new cotton tops; wash them first, ditto Dubai_Phil's advice, don't wear cheap polyester. Bottom half, well fitting running shorts or football training shorts with the built in cacks.
  5. What is the problem with the existing 21 days detention? Why now go to 42 for terrorists? The 21 days was okay when we were getting bombed by the IRA every other week, so why change it now? Tbh, if you haven't gathered enough evidence to prosecute after 21 days, then you ain't got a case. IMO of course. And if Osama Bin Laden ever does get caught then he will be tried according to the rule of law; it is after all what we are supposed to be defending isn't it? The HRA is something to be proud of, let's not start eroding it.
  6. Same thing here when I took the missus to Anfield when we got stuffed 7-1. It was so bad it was funny. I now only go occasionally and take the nipper if he wants to go but the sad thing is I know longer get that Match Day Buzz.
  7. Er, Pete Waterfield lives near me in Millbrook and his nipper goes to the same school as my youngest, I would hazard that he doesn't benefit from any state handout to assist in his competing in diving....And I would have absolutely no trouble in applauding anybody that competes at any level in the Olympics; they have to work bl00dy hard to get to that peak of achievment. Having said that though, the parade is being staged 2 months after the finish of the Games....if it had been a week afterwards I might have been a little more enthusiastic.
  8. Pompey couple walking out of the divorce court, the wife is crying her heart out. Husband says ' Oh for f*ck's sake stop crying, you're still my sister!!!!' ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My ex-wife asked me what reincarnation is. I explained, when you die you come back as something else. She said she wanted to come back as a pig. I said, 'You're not f*cking listening!!!!'
  9. Yep, that's sound. Reminds me of some more advice a mate who's a golf pro gave me; "Putt when you can putt, chip when you can't putt and pitch when you can't chip." Keep it all as simple as possible.
  10. I thought that was set in Somalia....
  11. Not much more to add from what the others have been saying, just to reiterate the importance of putting. Also it's important to practice your short game too, ie any shots a hundred yards or less into the green or pin. This is all about knowing your clubs and distances and needs practice. Don't try and emulate the pros if you hear commentators say things like "200 yards to go and out comes the 7 iron...." or something like that. A lot of high handicappers would be happy to hit a driver of the tee that far!!!! Toomer quoted John Daly when he said "Drivers for show, putters for dough" and that is very true advice. However, when you do want to get one of the big sticks out on the tee, go for a 3 wood instead of a driver, it's much more forgiving and DON'T TRY AND KNOCK THE SKIN OFF THE BALL!!!! As somebody else said, it's all about rhythm. The ball will go a surprisingly long way with what may seem to be a slowish, but correctly executed swing. Last bit I'll throw in which I don't think anyone else has mentioned, don't let one bad hole ruin your round. Forget about it and move onto the next. *Talking about golf presents an absolute minefield of opportunity for double entendres....
  12. Just tucking into The Steep Approach to Garbadale by Iain Banks. Been a big fan of Iain Banks (and as Iain M Banks when writing SF) ever since the critics slated The Wasp Factory; I couldn't understand why none of them had been chuckling at the very dark humour running through it.
  13. It was a schoolboy error. The most he should have got was a few "What the **** do you think you're doing!!!!" Booing him served no purpose whatsoever.
  14. Sorry to hear of this, I remember the old thread. RIP and condolences to Bob's family and friends.

    Ventura....

Just back from a 12 day cruise on this ship going to La Coruna, Madeira, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lisbon and Vigo (although took a trip to Santiago de Compostela from here). If you have a family and have never cruised before then this is the ship for you. There is so much every member of the family can see and do, stand up comics, tribute type bands, casino, night club, there are kids clubs which will also look after the little ones if you fancy a late night in the bars, casino or clubs. There's a 750 seat theatre on board where we saw some pretty good acts (Kev Orkian, Mike Starky and Darren Day (he was actually pretty funny....)). The ship even has it's own theatre company. There is also a circus school where our brood spent a lot of time. Food. Excellent quality and so much of it. The old addage is true, you need to pack another suitcase with bigger clothes for the 2nd week. The only minor downside is that there was a sizable element of more elderly passengers that lamented the old days of more formal cruising and weren't too happy with this casually dressed and boisterous rabble. (There were more formal evenings if you wanted to get togged up, but it's only a suggested dress code....). Still, there's the Oceana, Aurora, Oriana etc. for that demographic. Brill. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.
  16. Does that clock get in the way when you open the door?
  17. Congrats DSM, a proper excuse to buy Werthers Original now then.... Glad to hear Mum and babe and all are doing okay.
  18. Are they teaching Intelligent Design too? It's zed. And aitch. I remember when I first saw My Cousin Vinny and Vinny got a suit from a shop called E-Z Credit, I thought 'What the f*** does E-zed credit mean??'

    The Ryder Cup

Good to see evidence of terrace humour gracing the pristine fairways of Valhalla.... 1324: "The European fans are in good voice on the 1st tee, singing such classics as 'Walking in a Faldo wonderland' and 'Where's your Tiger gone?'. The US can only reply with 'USA, USA'."
  20. Kebab Express in Shirley. Fab humous (sp)....
  21. I'm sure many of the people that have stopped going were those that jumped on the Euro '96 bandwagon and were expecting to see the spactacle of top flight football every week. For me, I find Championship football exciting and entertaining; it's great going along to a match knowing that you'll be watching some honest, proper football between 2 fairly evenly matched teams, not, as was the case with many games in the Prem, turning up to watch us get rubbished by Man Ure, Arsenal, Liverpool or Chelsea. Admittedly we did have success against them (6-3 against Man Ure in '96, the fantastic last league match against Arsenal at the Dell and MLT's fairytale winning goal etc. etc.) but you could fairly easily predict the outcome of most matches in the Prem.
  22. The Common and the Sports Centre. They were my playgrounds as a nipper.
  23. Hadn't thought of that....And I'm normally such a scrooge when it comes to things like this. I suppose the only thing I can offer in defence of this is that if the solicitor is offering the rest of the service for a house move, perhaps they'd be more confident that the searches they did were right. I know what I'm like if I ask someone to trawl through data using SQL or something....when the results come back I invariably do 'em again just to check them!!!!
  24. har har!!!!
