  1. WTF? Are you for real? You've probably alienated yourself from quite a chunk of the people that post on here. On another note; one of the questions that gets asked when you're interviewed to become a magistrate goes along the lines of "Whose evidence are you more likely to believe, that of the defendant or that of the arresting police officer?" Those that answer "Why, the police officer of course" find that their careers as magistrates could end sooner than they thought.* *No, I'm not a magistrate.
  2. Curve; Doppelgänger. (Mmmm....Toni Halliday....)
  3. I was at the game with my little nipper and tbh the majority of what I saw going on was handbags. Not that I condone the intimidation that seemed to be aimed at the the Burnley fans, but get a grip, it wasn't exactly a return to the bad old days; the police didn't baton charge anyone from horseback.
  4. http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=15374&window_height=691&window_width=1131 This is pretty spectacular; zoom in to an area of the photo and wait for the images to load. Bit Big Brotherish though if you think of some of the apps it could be used for....
  5. Finishing off the day with Soulbossa: Come Into Soulbossa.
  6. Just heard that JG Ballard (Crash, Cocaine Nights) has died. Crash the book was surreal (to say the least) but the film just did it no justice at all. Except that Holly Hunter was in it. But Empire of the Sun was a fabulous film. RIP.
  7. Today I've been listening to two contrasting genres: Salt Tank; Science and Nature, ambient trippy stuff to see the day gently in followed by; Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins; Rabbit Fur Coat. An indie/country sound.
  8. It's not dodgy, one's just further away. I'd have her over to do the house up and then give her a cuppa.
  9. Band of Horses; Cease to Begin. Strange choice as I'll be going to a punk/garage gig tonight....
  10. Not going to Talking Heads tonight too are you?
  11. Apologies if someone has said this before (I confess I haven't read all of the posts in this thread) but any prospective purchaser will be waiting to see if we survive in this league and will also be waiting to see what the FL decide to do to us. Whatever the outcomes, any offer will reflect these. We won't hear anything until our future staus is confirmed. Personally, I'm fairly confident that we'll be okay. Current climate notwithstanding, I cannot believe that we won't be bought up. All the infrastructure is there to make us a real force in football again. Yes, I said 'again'. Confident, see?
  12. No, wasn't me. But I had to laugh at much further away from the goal Ronaldo seemed to get at each news update; 30 yards, 35 yards then 40.... I do concur though, it was a fabulous goal but it just reminded me of Barry Horne's bullet which I remember (wrongly) seemed to have been hit from the half way line.
  13. Pffffffffffffff. All the pundits that are creaming themselves over it have obviously forgotten Barry Horne's screamer against Bolton at the Dell. Or indeed a good selection of Matt's dazzlers.
  14. I've been listening to the Good Time Charlies today in preparation for the Penetration gig at Talking Heads tomorrow night. GTC are supporting.
  15. I was going back a few years today at work and was giving 18 Wheeler (Year Zero) a bit of dust off which led (through the Dave Keenan link) to the Telstar Ponies; In the Space of Few Minutes getting an airing. Haven't listened to these for years.

    Soccer AM

I was listening with interest to what MLT was saying about there being 2 or 3 serious bidders for the club. And when Max asked him if he was fit enough to play to help us out, Matt's reply made me smile when he said he was never fit enough to play at the height of his career!!!!
  17. I feel absolutely devastated. I don't think I have ever seen us look so clueless and passionless. I'm so shell shocked I'm speechless, I can't think of anything else to say.
  18. Very good article. I have many Liverpool supporting mates who, to this day, will not read The Sun. Can't say that I blame them.

  20. Love Felt, saw them supporting the Cocteau Twins at the Royal Festival Hall, must have been just after they'd released The Splendour of Fear. Was in the kitchen tidying up the kids breakfast things jigging around to Morphine earlier; Like Swimming, in particular Murder For The Money. Timeless.
  21. This will open at Harbour Lights on May 1st.... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1139797/ There is already a Hollywood remake planned gawd help us....
  22. That's a good shout BTF....I read this a few years ago. There are some top recommendations here, I can see me ittying off to Ikea for a couple more Billy's at this rate!!!! Thanks all!!!!
  23. Just finishing the day off with day off with Whale; We Care. Old Euro stuff that was fairly big in the 90s with favourites such as Hobo Humpin' Slobo Babe, Kickin'.... Just before this I was enjoying the retro sounds of Man Or Astro Man; Intravenous Television Continuum.
  24. Teenage Fanclub started the day today.
  25. Took my nipper to reserves and the Red v Yellow thing a few years ago when he was about 5 or 6. As for proper league games I started taking him last year; he was 8. Now he plays for an under 9s team he enjoys coming along more 'cos he has more of an idea of what's going on and really feels a part of the proceedings. So, in answer to the question, I think 8 or 9 is the ideal age because: They can pay attention for 90 minutes; They are starting to understand the basic rules and tactics; They don't want food or drink every 5 minutes; and They don't want the loo every 5 minutes.... Therefore you can still enjoy the game without having to explain the game too much to your prodigy or annoy the t1ts off everyone in your row to get stuff for him/her.
