  1. Fun Lovin' Criminals today. In chronological order I think. Just listened to Come Find Yourself, now on 100% Colombian. This second album sounds much 'rougher' than the first and imho is the much better for it.
  2. Well, Mesrine: Public Enemy No 1 was good, but wasn't quite as captivating as the first part, due in part I suppose to the fact that you knew what would happen in the the end. Nevertheless it charts the increasingly violent and political latter years of Mesrine's life and you even start to feel some kind of sympathy for him on occasion.
  3. Sadly it's not just getting the points back, we have to close the gap on those around us. We are 11 pts from safety at the moment. We need to get that winning feeling back and we need it quick. We're on relegation form and we need to improve quickly. I'd be happy with survival in this league this season and then push onwards and upwards next.
  4. There was a lot that could have got left on the cutting room floor. Too much talking and not enough shooting. Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed it. And the opening scene with the farmer and Landa was terrific; the bloke who played Landa (Christoph Waltz) should be in the running for an Oscar for his performance throughout the film. I spoke to a mate who said he was a little bit affronted by the stereotyping of the British. But a lot of what went on in the film was so exaggerated and mimicked (played homage too?) war films of this type (Dirty Dozen, Great Escape) that this was to be expected and I personally found quite funny.
  5. Fantastic in a straight line I would imagine, but turning it around would probably require more skill than an oil tanker captain doing a 3 point turn in the Channel. A bike for gawking at, not for riding.
  6. A farmer in Devon has made history by growing a field of dildos. Unfortunately he's had a lot of trouble with squatters.
  7. +1 The only annoying thing about it is the whiny American voice telling you that your Avast Antivirus database has been updated. Got shot of Norton 'cos it Hogs CPU.
  8. I fancy a bit of rabbit for my tea tonight, but can't decide whether it'll be cheaper from the butcher or the pet shop....
  9. 1. RULE No1 is a book by Rupert Morgan about a bee keeper in Iraq who inadvertently gets labelled a terrorist when Western Intelligence decide he is going to unleash a swarm of killer bees.... 2. Posting a picture of the subject matter that the thread is about. 3. Probably best not to indulge in Rule 1 if someone is talking about Rule 34.

    Antichrist....

Definitely not for the faint hearted. It is very graphic, very dark and brooding but very, very good. This is more art house cinema; the sex scenes are graphic but not pornographic; they are more dysfunctional than erotic. The violence is graphic and extreme but again, it's not a slash horror. It is a very intense psychological thriller that some will find find very disturbing as it is very uncompromising.
  11. I sometimes make the earth move.... Unless she just tells me that to stop me getting upset....
  12. ..............................No it isn't. Anyway, now that this subject has been raised, I too would like to have some indication as to where some of my hard earned went, and also some of my nipper's pocket money, even if it is just itemised in the administrator's final report.
  13. Mesrine: Killer Instinct was excellent. A real Tour de forse from Vincent Cassell. Also, if you pick up a flyer from Harbour Lights and attach your ticket from Killer Instinct you get 2 for 1 on the second part which is on from 28th August....Can't wait!!!!
  14. Wonder what the odds are on 20 wickets falling in the first day of an Ashes test?
  15. Watched Let The Right One In on DVD last night. Saw it at the flicks when it came out but I'd been out on the sauce in the day and nodded off a couple of times, but still came out of the cinema thinking that I'd just seen a really good film judging from what I could remember seeing while I was awake.... Anyway, watching it again at home confirmed that it is indeed a fab film; it's up there as one of my faves for the year so far.

    John Hughes

Yes, RIP indeed. He'll be missed. I like all of his films, Planes, Trains and Automobiles is a fave for the whole family and I really quite like The Breakfast Club.
  17. Arbouretum; Rites of Uncovering

On a roll now.... Abinoni's* Adagio in G Minor for Strings and Organ. *Often prefixed with this possessive noun, but it was in fact written by R Giazotto. Apparently....

    Idle hands

Or even Rich Hall 'standing on a stone' during a pre season friendly after he left us for West Ham....We made a cool >£1m on him in the deal. Don't like to see footballers get injured; he was a bl00dy good CB for us.

I'll see your Satie and raise you Samuel Barber; Adagio for strings.....used so extensively in films like Gallipoli, Platoon, Amelie etc,
  22. The average amount of time spent by a bloke ogling the opposite sex per day.... Gheys, treble it and it may be nearer the mark!!!! http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/aug/05/men-ogle-women?commentpage=1 I added another 5 minutes to my daily total ogling Ariane's photo....
  23. +1 Also noticed that Alan Moore wasn't included in the credits at the start of the film, I presume at his own request. I missed the squid too....and Tales of the Black Freighter, but this is available on a separate DVD. Btw, Apollonia Vanova....nuff said.
  24. Arbouretum; Song of the Pearl.
