The public sector isn't an invention of Brown, it's been around a little bit longer than that, and Brown et al started the ball rolling with pay freezes in the public sector long before the tories got their teeth into it. And there are many jobs and services within the public sector that couldn't be easily filled that quickly by the private sector. Air traffic controllers; social psychologists; teachers for special needs kids etc. etc. Of course, they could take the money and run and get re-employed on nice fat consultants wages by the private sector!! Everyone's a winner then!!! Until it all goes Southern Cross....

We've got false widows in our garden and living in our shed. They look mean but they're harmless. Must admit, we did 5h1t ourselves the first time we saw one!!!

I was sat in the lounge with the missus last night, idly flicking through the TV channels: Porn; Golf; Porn; Golf; Porn; Golf.... The wife says, "Leave it on porn, you know how to play bl00dy golf...."

F. F. S.... That was a real head slap moment; thanks Hutch. This works straight from the iPod list too obviously. Sorry, I was overthinking this and was looking for something like an 'Export as .CSV' or '.TXT' function, and all I had to do was a simple Ctrl A, C, and V.... I've recently changed PCs but I've got an old iPod classic which contains all my CDs and which I fill manually so the only back ups I have are the original CDs; I can't sync with iTunes. Thanks Hutch....

Okay, I know you used to be able to do this 'cos I've done it. I want to export as a .csv file all the info on the albums/tracks I have on my iPod, but don't seem to be able to....does anyone know how to do this? Thanx....

13 Assassins Takishi Miike's take on the Samurai genre. A very good film in it's own right, it's a slow burn start as the plot is introduced (a straightforward one really; the assassination of a cruel lord, half brother of the shogun) and the characters are introduced, but it builds to a furious crescendo with a fight scene that must be all of half an hour long!! Seven Samurai it ain't, but in fairness it doesn't try to be. It falls down however in that there isn't much in the way of humour or lightheartedness (the role of Kikuchiyo played by Toshiro Mifune in 7 Samurai for example) and you never really feel any empathy or feeling for any of the characters. That aside, I enjoyed it, but not as much as I was hoping to given Miike's pedigree. 7/10

The Beat That My Heart Skipped The cover says this is a gangster film, but I think this is a little misleading. It's basically the story of a Parisian 'real estate trader' and his gang whose methods are somewhat illegal. The film is focused on the central character of Thomas Seyr and the conflict he has in deciding to continue to follow in his fathers footsteps and continue the shady property dealing or (and this sounds bizarre but works very well) become a concert pianist like his mother, unfortunately deceased. So the film follows the violence of Thom's day job and his almost diametrically opposed determination to realise his dream of concert pianist. Quite violent and brutal in places the film documents Thom's attempts to make the transition. Excellent film with a fabulous soundtrack featuring the likes of The Kills and Bloc Party. 8.5/10

I met Ayrton Senna once at BAT in Shirley when he was racing for the JPS Lotus team (I think). Very personable and likeable bloke and I too remember the tragedy at Imola. Sunday dinner left to go cold as we watched dumbstruck as the events unfolded. Very sad day.
