Official..Southampton appoint Mark Hughes.
sydenhamssocks replied to saint lard's topic in The Saints
Whatever our thoughts on Hughes appointment, Let’s get behind him, starting with the 4400 heading to Wigan on Sunday. The glimmer of hope is still flickering! -
February 2001. Cancelled about 90 mins before KO, pitch fine but areas around stadium not so. Finished my pizza and pint then went home. Rescheduled fixture was a Monday(poss Tuesday) night in May. Ended 1-1 super Marian with the late equaliser!

Allocation is approx 4,600 according to OS
-
2013. Tickets were available on the day.
-
2013 just after Poch took over. 2-2 draw. Tickets available at the gate on the day. Wigan went on to win cup and get relegated. We headed for the dizzy heights and Europe. History can only repeat one of those scenarios for the victors !

Yep! and, finally it was the one we all wanted too. wasted!

COME ON CANADA!! Don't you just love the Winter Olympics Kat

Pelligrino looks a maths teacher who's been forced to take the football team. Odd arm signals, clueless expression. Clearly out of his depth. He has to be replaced. So the talent in our squad can kick on, be motivated and give us fighting chance of staying up. Like most on here I'd take just about anyone! We need the best organiser available to us. Be that Hughes or Silva or ??? I don't care if it is Hughes, there's others I'd prefer, I just want that idiot gone.

Mark Lawrenson just said on Football Focus that he can't see us being relegated! The kiss of death

WBA v Saints - 5th Round FA Cup Thread
sydenhamssocks replied to Edmonton Saint's topic in The Saints
Knocked us out in the 4th round then beat the Skates in the 5th. -
Yep. Saw that. Over egging the PR again. A nice bloke and all that. Dressing room joker. Popular with the lads. Yes. But Saints Legend. No. I’m afraid not
-
He’s had his fun at no cost to himself. Get him out !
-
Haha! Glad you don't drive the team bus! Top goal !
-
But..bizarrely, he can play the banjo! He's in the wrong job, a club singer not a striker... Footballs Forest Gump.....run Shane run !
-
The right man in the right place at the right time! Saints and Rickie were a perfect combination. Great goals. Great times. Thank you Rickie Lambert for playing your best football at Southampton it was a pleasure to watch.

Absolutely this, well said. Marcus set us on our way and it's been a memorable time. New owners have a lot to live up to and I wish them well.
-
Nice for the lad, but he'd benefit from a decent loan spell in the championship, like Gallagher or Reed or Stephens. See what he's really made of.

Dundee Utd are in the div below the Old Firm. A'rough and tumble' league but good experience just the same, with Dundee Utd expected to be promotion candidates.

From 2005 Long has played at Reading,WBA,Hull & Saints Scoring 85 goals over 12 seasons That's an average of just 7 per season!! He's never been a big goal scorer, not sure how he has been valued so highly for just running incredibly fast! Always one of the first to perk up for a new manager, selling himself as a poor soul who didn't get the opportunities during the previous season. A speedy Irish troubadour with an ear for a tune and a cheeky grin! Time to freshen up the striking pack and move him on like Jay Rod Nice fella,I'm sure...but anything north of £10m and I'd be inclined to take it!!
-
Well done Saints! You got this one right.
-
Absolutely correct! Hope he's not going to be a surprise cheap option !!!!!!
-
That is brilliant! And totally correct
-
Totally agree, your thoughts are spot on. We've mysteriously stopped playing to suit Gabbiadini's strengths and he now cuts a forlorn figure up front and being subbed regularly. An attacking midfielder would support him for sure,as would finding the width again and getting those crosses whipped in. In fact....who's strengths do we play to ?
-
Seconded !
-
Yep! Absolutely this. Every time without fail these last 41years
