Armstrong is a clever player who can and has made those killer passes. His recent assists alone, show that. He links well with Danny. If anything, Redmond has probably been not quite as affective since the restart as we know he can be. Hopefully Smallbone will also contribute in that area too.

Not convinced we need to go different, it’s just tradition I guess. When I see stripes I think Saints and not Stoke, Sheff U, Brentford etc. But when I see the sash style I don’t really think Saints. I regard the stripes as ‘our kit’ not there’s. having said that’ Under Armour have been poor with or without stripes, so roll on the next manufacturer. Let’s win a cup in sashes and I might buy it 😉

Share all the sentiments and respect for Lawrie, but not a fan of too many statues. Maybe a plaque, the first of many, on a 'Legends' wall. An area of exterior wall set aside. An inductee or two each year. Fans vote for favourites ?

From the Echo : Ralph Hasenhuttl revealed that he has no idea why Cedric Soares pulled put of Saints' Premier League match at Tottenham Hotspur BEFORE the players had even warmed up. When Hasenhuttl changed his team shortly before kick-off, with Jannik Vestergaard brought in to replace Cedric, it was assumed the right-back had sustained an injury while preparing for Saints’ first match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. But, speaking in his post-match press conference Hasenhuttl, revealed that was not the case.

Poor decisions from Ralph. After Cedric pulled out Valery SHOULD’VE replaced him, a straight swap, not having to shuffle 2 or 3. Then after sending off, we SHOULD’VE went to a back 4 at half time. Waited too long to change personnel & tactics. Obafemi SHOULD’VE been on earlier to partner Ings not replace him. Points lost here I’m afraid by Ralph(SHOULD’VE) Hasenhuttl. I like him but some choices recently have been odd.

RIP. Sad news, Condolences to family and friends

I expect you'll be right. Think I can handle him seeing out his final year ha! but don't think a contract extension should be anywhere near the table.

Absolutely this!! Apologies to Shane but I’ve never been a fan, yet he seems to have engaged every manager with his attributes of wit, charm, guitar playing, singing voice, banter and self praise. None of it football based ! He can run very fast in a straight line and if the luck of the Irish is with him he might just get the odd goal every dozen or so games. His recent goal ‘splurge’ seems to have got him off of most people’s ‘Gone in the Summer’ lists! Whilst it’s been a welcome and fortunate spell, it’s not a sudden change in form. The miss against the post yesterday is more indicative of where he’s been for a few years. Time to thank him for that goal at Liverpool and upgrade for an exciting season ahead. Ta Shane.

Absolutely agree with everything written in the above posts. Long is absolutely useless and getting worse. He really has no footballing attributes at all. Running fast in a straight line is not enough! He and Austin need emptied out, there joint contributions today were totally forgettable. Long ultimately not doing his job cost us.

And proved that to be the case this evening. Should've taken more for us and a few free kicks into the bargain too. Still not tall enough though
-
Oh I know it's not new to him. Was just watching game and thought that for anyone making their debut in front of a home crowd in an important game, volunteering to take a pen was fairly brave. Miss it and they instantly don't fancy you. Crowd wasn't any bigger than when we were there, but as I'm sure you'll remember from that night, they can be a hostile bunch. There's plenty players would've dodged the potential bullet. He's still not tall enough though

Fair play to Cedric tonight. Stepped up in the shoot out to score a pen for Inter after having just come on to make his debut in extra time of a cup quarter final v Lazio. Lost in the end but didn't shirk the pressure in San Siro.

Our allocation was 2,458 and there were about 6 sections on sale after ST's, when the members window opened. Currently 2 sections available with under 100 seats left. So maybe a pretty healthy number making the trip.

Possibly resolved before we get there?!?! Fingers crossed Latest News Northern responds to RMT February strike announcement You are here: Home News Latest News Northern responds to RMT February strike announcement Northern has issued a response to RMT's announcement of further strikes on Saturdays in February. David Brown, Managing Director at Northern, said: “There is no reason for RMT to continue this needless strike action. The Department for Transport and Transport for the North have guaranteed that all current conductors will continue to work in modernised on-board roles on all trains to provide customer service. This will include helping customers with accessibility, personal security, ticketing and information. “Customer groups and business groups have supported Northern’s call for RMT to take part in an independent inquiry on Northern’s plans. This inquiry would be held by ACAS with an independent chair and independent panel and would give all parties the chance to have their say.”

Hope he does well back in Italy . Was so nearly the guy who hit a hat trick at Wembley and won us a cup. Cheers and Good luck fella -
All the best Davo. Top pro with a great attitude, probably our best pound-for-pound signing of recent years. Hope he retains a base in he south and returns in coaching capacity in the near future.

Can we handle TWO Ralphs. !!!!!!
-
The right decision and not before time Wonder if the Les replacement has already been identified on the black box
-
Absolutely correct! His choices/decisions so far don't bode well. Mediocrity ahead...at best !
-
We only paid around £800,000 for him 6 years ago and he's been an excellent buy. Classy fella. Hope he gets the move he wants. No fee surely. That would be a nice gesture for a good servant.

Finally, the long-overdue 2018/19 kit thread...

They suit the kids cause they look like kids kits, which to be fair is the market, so job done I guess. Unless the fit over 40's are going to cough up £100 for the 'authentic' one !! *breathes in !!!! -

Absolutely agree with all of the above At our poorest moments during yesterday's first half it made me wonder if this group of players just 'are what they are'. A mixed bag of good individuals who don't really compliment each other that well. Despite what the black box nonsense would have us believe. We have more examples of a pair of players who don't work well together (Tadic Boufal. Various CB pairings. Davis JWP ? Gabby Carrillo? etc) than we do of a duo who we can't do without. A squad like that need more direction to find the route home. Our top priced purchases have only really glowed briefly and of course the Pellegrino factor can't be ignored. Yesterday's win was obviously vital for everyone's spirit and Mark Hughes will have a better idea of what's ahead after watching the first 45 minutes.
