  1. It brings a warm glow to the heart : http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/newshome/Four-years-on-and-it39s.5010711.jp 8-1 to the blue few , we just can't get anything right can we .
  2. Yes Amesbury I take the point . I was (mistakenly) thinking more of the movie than the actual historical facts . Delving deeper into the pretty disastrous history of the 24th Foot it's surprising they managed to avoid their customary complete calamity again .
  3. If only we'd known , 1000 impoverished Saints fans singing 'Gordon is a moron' at full volume might have got us on the news and possibly even encouraged that Lord Ashcroft bloke to bung us a £1m or so - another missed opportunity - I blame Rupert .
  4. This chap seems to possess the qualities need to represent Saintsweb members at Boardroom meetings : At least he's unlikely to be as easily intimidated as Mary Corbett (allegedly)
  5. I was born in Dorset but having a (very) Welsh surname I too avoid the 'Sheep ****ger' jibe - I'm not really Welsh in any meaningful sense but I still can't watch the movie 'Zulu' without a sense of (entirely undeserved) pride for some spurious reason . As for racism all the British peoples have become so interbred over the last 2000 years it's all just too absurd to take seriously in this day and age .
  6. I hope they look after him for us , because I reckon this lad has real talent and he's going to become decent player before very long .
  7. The Internet like most other Human inventions is a tool that can be used for good or bad purposes , it seems to me this site and others like easily it falls in to the 'Hitchhikers' definition of humanity - mostly harmless . Look at it this way , debating issues on here is a far more mentally stimulating way to spend an hour rather than just vegetating in front of a TV watching 'Eastenders' or ferking 'Emmerdale Farm' .
  8. Interesting and surprisingly candid comments from Saga , desperate to keep us up and not at all happy about being loaned to Aalborg . http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1152582/Southampton-3-Preston-1-Irvine-8217-s-fury-sloppy-Preston.html Good lad .
  9. To return to the original question Wayne Thomas signed a 3 year contract in August 2007 (£1.2m) : http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/search/?mode=movenav&page_id=8870 So unless a extension has been signed (of which I'm unaware) he will be on contract with SFC until the end of the 2009/10 season .
  10. If the players have woken up let's hope it's not too late .
  11. It's true Wotte has taken over a worse team in a worse position than Nigel Pearson did last season , if he manages to keep this team up it would be little short of a footballing miracle IMO . As for being 'disliked' it seems to me the better managers seem to install a mixture of fear/respect/admiration among their players - not dislike . The jury's still out on whether Wotte has the right qualities to succed in football management , some might say his record suggests he probably doesn't . It's likely to be of academic interest only , we're already down I fear .
  12. The above could well apply not only to the clubs major shareholders but to some on here as well . As the share price plummets so does Rupert Lowe's support , it can only be a matter of time now before a critical mass is reached and a EGM is called to remove Lowe from power , unfortunately the damage is already done and it will all be far to late .
  13. Newsflash..... Southampton Football Club release image of St Marys future should we lose to Preston North End today , Chairman claims "It's still better than Fratton Park"
  14. I share some of the sentiments expressed on here and it's fair to say fan moral is probably at it's lowest ebb , but I feel numb not apathetic - for it's apathy (not hate) that is the true opposite of love , and we could never hate the our grand old club could we . Remember Southampton Football Club existed long before Rupert Lowe and Michael Wilde came along and believe it or not it will still be here long after they've gone .
  15. I reckon that fella had it coming then [-(
  16. This chap ?
  17. I can live with that but remember the Spinnaker Tower does have one advantage - it allows people to look down on Portsmouth , a pastime any Saints should appreciate surely .
  18. Remove HMS Victory from your list of hate at once sir ! she was built in Chatham , fought at Trafalgar under the command of a Dorset Captain and is truly a National historic monument - she just happens to be docked in Eastern Hampshire . Additionally It's a well known fact that Lord Nelson was a Saints fan . HTH
  19. I wonder if the depressed share price will have any baring on the banks decision regarding whether to put SLH into Administration or not , the less the PLC is worth the less it's worth their while supporting us ? (possibly , I'm no financial expert) .
  20. Mike (let's not upset Sir Alex) Riley - what a bustard .
  21. One of the little know repercussions of the recession is that clubs are having to reduce the width & height of the goals in order to cut costs , leading to fewer penalties being scored and completely explaining David McGoldrick's apparent inability to score a goal . I hear the FA is planing to introduce a revolutionary 'Midget Goalkeepers Only' law to restore the status quo . QED
  22. That would work out as 17/18 management changes a season , which seems a tad on the high side .
  23. There's little or no chance of me renewing my season ticket with Lowe & Wilde still running things but I can't imagine not going at all next season - Saturday 3pm football's just too big a part of my life to go 'cold turkey' regardless of principle .
  24. Come on let's be fair about it , there were a great many fans on here who were extremely worried about this season even before a ball had been kicked . This season's strategy was always likely to fail as it has - that's not revisionism or being wise after the event it's called judgment .
