  1. Leon Crouch has lost a considerable amount of money already with his SLH shareholding now worthless and the guy is still putting his hand in his pocket trying to keep the club going - a true Saints fan and a top bloke in my view .
  2. Contaminated land can be cleaned up at a price (I live in Poole where a large housing development is being build on an old gas works site) and current planning use is not exactly set in stone either . I can see the redevelopment potential of the area if you could acquire the cement works as well as St Marys , being a waterside area you could really make something special of it with a lot of cash and some imagination . Please understand I don't actually want this to happen (far from it) but it could well offer a better return to Aviva Investments than seeing a non league club trying to exist within an embarrassingly oversized stadium that it could never even come close to filling .
  3. Just consider how badly designed football stadia are for events like concerts etc - the very shape (an oval) is fundamentally all wrong , and that's before we start thinking about poor acoustics or the lack of a roof in our notoriously unpredictable weather . The prospect of St Marys surviving without a significant football club is remote in the extreme IMO . Once the recession ends there would be better uses for this valuable land surely , but let's hope it doesn't come to that bitter end .
  4. Football stadia are a bit like a car factory - they are only profitable when they're working at maximum capacity . St Marys can only ever be a going concern when it has 20-30k fans inside , a non league club with 3k hard core fans rattling around would be a financial (& footballing) nonsense . St Marys will never see the Blue Star Premier League ...etc - It'll be knocked down and redeveloped if it came to that .
  5. It's pay day .
  6. Strangely this story was not even mentioned on Meridian Tonight (aka Skate News) - make of that what you will .
  7. Ricardo Fuller for £90k does seem a bit of a bargain now it must be said .
  8. Well D-Day seems to have been postponed after all - where is Group Captain Stagg when you need him (that's one for any saintsweb historians out there)
  9. The Saints terrible revenge on Dutch football - "they had it coming" claims disgruntled southerner .
  10. May I present Exhibit Number One for the defence M'lud :
  11. It seems quite clear that some kind of arrangement could have been reached between the 3 major players had Wilde & Lowe been prepared to cede power to LC - the fact they were prepared to put the company into Administration rather than admit defeat must go down as a 'toys out of the pram' moment of enormous immaturity . Pitiful .
  12. Newsflash....... Southampton fans object to being called 'peasants' by Rupert Lowe .
  13. Splendid idea Football is sometimes called 'Gods game' so logically the Saints must be Gods team I suppose . On the other hand true Christians have already given all their money away (camels & the eye of the needle etc) so funding may be limited . Nevertheless I shall continue praying for divine inspiration in the Chapel , God knows we need all the help we can get .
  14. It's a relatively minor point but the obvious Christian religious connotations of the term 'Saints' could actually be a negative factor in certain parts of the world .
  15. Couldn't agree more . Paul Wooton was a poor/below average player in the Championship this season and he'll surly prove to be a poor player in L1 next (although I do love the guys attitude). Anyone on here thinking that L1 is going to be a walk in the park really needs to take a reality check right now - you underestimate the opposition at your peril . Only the very best players we can get led by a competent manager will do next season , anything less and we could be looking at relegation again in 12 months time - I kid you not .
  16. MLT - administrators decision "imminent" . http://www.thisisjersey.com/2009/05/08/le-tissier-so-keen-to-help-saints-%E2%80%93-but-not-in-the-hot-seat/
  17. This lad seems keen : http://www.thisisjersey.com/2009/05/07/boyle-poised-to-sign-resign/
  18. In Arizona's theoretical future I'd be more than happy to see a player of Rasiak's class stay - if he's really up for it . I'd be even more pleased if we could keep Stern John but neither eventuality seems very likely at this time sadly .
  19. Every time I seen the Mule play this season he looks a a handful for the opposition to cope with and in the right circumstances he can do a job for the team no doubt . But I have to take issue with the suggestion that he'd be an effective L1 striker . There's just no evidence in this seasons goal tally to support this assertion and if you ask me the guy hasn't got the strikers 'touch' in front of goal that marks out the natural forward player or anywhere near the pace to get behind opposition defences either for that matter . If he takes a substantial pay cut and stays all well and good IMO - but at his age he's a centre midfield player now for sure .
  20. That's was part of the problem wasn't it ? We haven't had a 'Manager' all season just a Head Coach(s) whose responsibilities don't stretch as far as signing players apparently . Who'd have thought that system wouldn't work in the CCC .....oh yes it was us wasn't it .
  21. Didn't the great Georges Prost recommended this player to us ? - Generally a good judge of a young talent but you can't win 'em all I suppose .
