  1. But it is not a insult if it is true. Again, you fullfil all the criteria required to be classed as a little englander. Indeed, this is quite obvious and I can't see why this upsets you so.
  2. But you are a little englander - indeed you are the archetypal little englander. That is older, wealthier, and tending towards a more backward looking attitude than those young people who will bear the brunt of your irresponsibility.
  3. To be frank, I find it more than a little perplexing that anyone can possibly look back on this referendum campaign and somehow conclude that the 'Remain' side have been uniquely engaging in the black art of "misinformation" when the evidence shows I think that the 'Leave' campaign are surely very far from being innocent in this respect. Indeed, you need only open your eyes and look at the shameless lie written all over the side of Boris Johnson's so-called 'battle bus' to see the evidence of that. It is not misinformation that the clear (often overwhelming) majority of economic, political, financial and business opinion has come out in favour of our retaining our EU membership. That is rather the fact of the matter. I note with interest that while accusing others of misleading behaviour you are attempting to downplay the importance of the Single Market by stating that this accounts for a mere 12% of our total economy. This really will not do as the record shows that our trade with the EU still accounts for over 45% of UK exports. Trading nations, such as the UK, do need to export do they not in order to survive? Clearly millions of jobs and a large portion of inward investment depend upon this commerce and damage inflicted here will soon have a profound effect on the future prospertity of this nation. Again, England voting to leave while Scotland votes to stay may well have a grave impact on the future political stability and economy of this old nation. As for your opinion that the polls somehow underestimate the number of 'silent' Leave campaign supporters out there, I see little reason to believe that this is true. Indeed, in my expereince your average little englander is anything but silent when it comes to expressing themselves on the EU! Something tells me that the reverse of that situation is just as likley to be the case as many Leave supporters are so vehement in their hatred of the EU that I suspect that some of your (typically) more mild-mannered Remain voters are keeping their 'heads down' at the moment. This factor may explain why the polls misread the outcome of the Scottish Independance Referendum so significantly. Time will tell.
  4. It's so damn easy for some lazy jurno to slate SFC as some kind of lacking-in-ambition 'selling club'. And okay, plenty of good players have left us in recent seasons and more will follow in the coming months I expect. It's not so damn easy however to lay out some realistic alternative as to what middle sized clubs in our position are supposed to do when players (or even managers) are determined to go and allowing them to run down their contracts risks either a huge financial loss, or (as this case) the type of 'the gaffer is leaving' mentality we saw destroy Man City last season. One of the principle reasons why Leicester City have just won the Premier League is because they were a collective of manager and players who ALL truely wanted to be there. Players and managers come and go, but I for one only want to see people who are fully committed to my club working at my club. If they can't really say that then we better let them go and find replacements who do really want to be here.
  5. David Moyes would be a very good choice I reckon. However, past experience shows that someone who we have either never heard of, or a manager who is not (as yet) even on our 'radar' will end up getting the job. Let's hope whoever it is they do as well as the last two appointments did because they were both your stereotypical 'tough acts to follow'. What we shouldn't waste time worrying about is that there will be some shortage of good quality candidates seeking the job - because make no mistake managing SFC now is a good opportunity in the richest league in the world.
  6. Not really my kind of thing normaly, but I did take the boy to see the new 'X Men' film last weekend - X Men: Apocalypse. What, I ask myself, is there left to say that is remotely orginal about Hollywood superhero films? On the positive side this movie had a strong cast for sure. James McIlvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult - the viewer certainly had plenty of top class young acting talent to both see and enjoy. Somehow the cast even manage to take this stuff seriously - while awaiting a huge pay off to arrive in the post no doubt. As is nearly always the case now with big budget Hollywood action movies the production values and special effects are beyond any real critism. But as for the plot ... well all these superhero films are essentially the same aren't they? Yet another regulation combination of angst, a seemingly unstoppable super villian, and a climatic punch-up with a outcome that will be utterly predictable to anyone who has ever seen this type of stuff before. So methinks you really don't need to see this film ... unless that is a few hours of mindless superhero mayhem happens to float your boat I suppose.
  7. Maybe because members of the Vote Leave campaign have leveled EXACTLY the same critism at the PM?
  8. As this thread shows it seems that the manager is in a near impossible situation here. Whatever squad he picks you can GUARANTEE that some fans will disagree with this or that selection as their personal favourites either miss the cut or players they happen to dislike for some reason are included. If Roy rates Jack Wilshire so very highly then he is perfectly entitled to pick him - if that doesn't work out then he will surely answer for that decision later. For me the manager has assembled a reasonable squad here and England fans should concentrate their efforts on looking forward to watching some good football - I hope.
  9. Again, those outside nations that have negotiated some form of 'free trade' like arrangement with the EU in reality do not have full access to the Single Market area as financial services are always excluded. Further, although the share of world GDP Europe accounts for is indeed in long term decline (as devloping nations become industrialised of course) it is nevertheless still almost certainly true that the UK will continue to conduct a large percentage of its export trade with our nearest neighbours. Europe can be both declining in relationship to the rest of the world and still be vital to us. I take it that there is no need for me to explain yet again the reality of the situation nations such as Norway and Switzerland are in vis-a-vis the EU?
  10. Good grief that was terrible. It started with some incomprehensidle jibberish about predicting football results and then when on to predict a early death awaits us all if we dare not vote to leave the EU. To cap it all the bare faced '£350m' lie made yet another unwelcome appearance! I'd rather watch Big Brother - and that's saying summit.
  11. We have all on here been supporting a obviously flawed team that habitualy underperformed for much of lives. You support your team regardless of its shortcomings - that is what being a proper fan is all about is it not?
  12. Of course most English football fans care about their national team. Why wouldn't you?
  13. ^ Well if the UK were to leave the EU, and then negotiate some trade deal in which we could in effect 'cherry pick' all that we wanted from the Single Market while rejecting all that we were no so keen about, then it seems to me that would impact on the remaining EU 27 quite profoundly. What then is to stop other nations from embarking down the same road if it is a consequence-free move? No, it seems to me that it is very much in the EU interest that this organisation should do all it possibly can to discourage other nations from following our example and seceding from the union. A new UK-EU trade deal would be reached eventualy I suppose. However, the nature and timing of this deal are unknown and the prospect of our vital financial services sector regaining its current open access to European markets looks pretty bleak.
  14. I see that the contraversial '£350m a week' nonsence has been removed from the side of the Vote Leave battlebus - only to be replaced by a new sign claiming we give the EU '£50m a day'. You "do the math" as they sometimes say on TV. Yes of course both sides are at it to a greater or lesser degree - but this kind of contempt for the truth can't be a good thing for the long term health of our democracy.
  15. The question is a reasonable one I think. To be fair Matt Targett has played a bit. However, a player who is not a kid anymore but rather a young man in his early twenties who is (seemingly) nowhere near the first team, must be questioning where his career is going. If not then they really should.
  16. Well apparently Johnny Foreigner has to dance to our tune because 15% of their export trade comes to us while a mere 45% of our export trade goes to them. Therefore clearly we hold the balance of power in this relationship so they can go and do one ... or something like that.
  17. Chandlers Ford then?
  18. Well my world does seem real enough to me. But as you keep dropping heavy hints on here that somehow only you are in touch with reality perhaps you would specify where this veritable hell-hole you in live is? Hedge End is it?
  19. An empolyer can legally deduct no more than £37.45 a week in accommodation 'offset' charges: https://www.gov.uk/national-minimum-wage-accommodation/rates So, on the face of it, I'm stuggeling to see how the numbers add up here. In any case, surely potential abuses of this nature point to the need to crack down on bad UK employers rather than on their unfortunet foreign born victims.
  20. Just like any UK born worker by law EU immigrants working over here must be paid the new National Living Wage of £7.20 per hour, or the old Minimum Wage of between £3.87 and £6.70 per hour if they are aged under 25. Even if some unscrupulous employer has somehow had them classified as teenage apprentices, then they would still be entitled to at least £3.30. So either: A - Your uncle is mistaken. B - These Romanians are working part time hours. C - The law is being broken. If option C is the situation here then you should perhaps advise your uncle to inform HM Revenue and Customs of this offence.
  21. Well we don't often agree on much - to put it mildly - but let's enjoy this rare moment of concord while it lasts. The Australian 'Points Based System' (PBS) may in reality not deliver the significant fall in immigration Bretex supporters seem to presume it might. Indeed, the record shows that after this system was introduced in 1989 immigration into Australia actually increased: http://leftfootforward.org/2015/03/ukip-take-note-australias-immigration-system-is-far-from-perfect/ Furthermore, some on here clearly misunderstand PBS because it is not just about highly qualified professionals (such as surgeons for example) and many of those EU immigrants arriving here now would probably still qualify for entry anyway.
  22. This is great fun: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/immigration/10404421/Boris-I-am-the-only-British-politician-who-will-admit-to-being-pro-immigration.html So I wonder how can it be that a politician who is himself the descendent of a immigrant family, and whatismore one who not so very long ago was quite prepared to state that he was firmly in favour of legal immigration, can now express the polar opposit opinion to that? Perhaps I am being excessively cynical here, but something tells me that All Boris Johnson is about is ensuring that Boris Johnson becomes our next Prime Minister and that those on here who expect him to do what they want him to post Brexit are p1ssing up entirly the wrong tree?
  23. I agree, there is little doubt that many immigrants do live in overcrowded conditions and some end up being exploited in all kinds of ways. This is regrettable of course, but I suppose we live in a capitalist society and therefore money will exploit labour as it always has done - remember the Single Market was (in large part) designed by Margret Thatcher.
  24. Well if this firm is breaking the law then it should be reported to the authorites. Can it be however that the management of this private hire business know that it is difficult to find British born people who will reliably do the job for the pay they are offering?
  25. I don't know the answer to you question. But cab driving (the world over) is one of these low-skilled, but still useful, jobs immigrants end up doing - probably because local people are often unwilling to put up with the long hours and low pay nature of the work. To my personal knowledge a Taxi firm down the road from me has had a 'now hiring' sign in its window for a decade or more.
