  1. Yeah, boring but right.
  2. Anton Yelchin, Star Trek's new 'Chekov' killed by his own car. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-36572649
  3. I'm not really interested in what achieved years ago. Look at how his team spent half of last season 'on the beach' and how he struggled to get a performance out if them - at least in the PL.
  4. You'd be happy with a manager that had a £300m+ squad that somehow finished a whole three points ahead of us last season?
  5. And where did he finish in the PL?
  6. You'd struggle to argue that Pellegrini acheived very much last season considering the exceptionally talented (and hugly expensive) squad placed at his disposal. At the age of 63 he may also be too old now to retain the level of mental flexibility and energy required to adapt to a ever changing game and relate to youthful players. What this club really needs, and I think what separates the good from the average manager in general, is that the former can produce a team that is somehow MORE than the sum of its parts. Whatever he has achieved in the past, that really cannot be said about Manuel Pellegrini today can it?
  7. He looks calm enough to me.
  8. I think he is fighting his corner quite successfully against a pretty hostile audience. You will think differently of course.
  9. You posting this is about as predictable as death and taxation.
  10. Well you get a opportunity to vote for both your MP and MEP every five years or so - is that not good enough? As for the EU Commission, critics of the EU (such as yourself) habitually like to argue that Britain is losing its 'soverengthy' to unelected bureaucrats in Brussels. While the senior staff of the Commission are indeed unelected, so are bureaucrats almost everywhere - including those in Whitehall of course. Members of the EU Commission, as well as being appointed by the elected governments of member states, are indeed subject to confirmation in their positions by the directly elected European Parliament and cannot make final decisions on EU law or policy.
  11. Well if you against both the EU and HMG then please explain what you do want - freedom for Tooting perhaps?
  12. And your government has told you, in the most categorical terms, that this nation will have nothing to do with a so-called 'EU Army' and would employ our veto power to squash any proposal to involve the UK in this area. So that seems clear enough then.
  13. You really don't understand the nature of what research evidence is do you? I find this quite remarkable in a man of your age. Researchers can't practically collate patient immigration status with waiting times from every single GP surgery in the land - I doubt these are even generated. So they study what is calculated to be a representative sample and base their conclusions on that. This is reasonable and common practice in the real world. If you on the other hand have any reputable evidence that immigration has significantly incresed GP waiting times (as claimed on here) then I suggest that you either produce it or shut up. Also, I must note (without rising to the bait) that you have elected to call me "arrogant" (for the umpteenth time) while at the same time proudly stating that you intend to ignore everyone else's opinion! This is as clear a case of 'the pot calling the kettle black' as could be possibly imagined. Not for the first time on this thread your epic lack of self-awareness seemingly prevents you from comprehending even this eminently obvious point.
  14. "May" is a useful word that conveys the profound truth that the world is a uncertain and complicated place. To the type of person (such as yourself) who likes to see everything in simplistic black and white terms then this will seem unsatisfactory. Nevertheless, science and evidence are not quite the same thing - although it "may" require a mind more subtle than yours is to comprehend the point.
  15. I doubt somehow that being told to "ignore" that which does not conform to one's established opinion is the wisest piece of advice ever offered on here ...
  16. Even if we ignore the significant role foreign born staff play in running the NHS, research shows that in areas where significant numbers of immigrants live then GP waiting times may actualy be reduced somewhat as they are (on average) a younger and healthier population that requires less medical attention. http://blogs.lse.ac.uk/politicsandpolicy/immigration-may-reduce-the-time-you-wait-to-see-the-doctor/ Not that I expect mere evidence to change anyone's mind at this stage of course.
  17. Well Vladmir Putin will be delighted I expect.
  18. More signs of a UK economy not exactly in crisis - all data gathered from recent official statistics: • Inflation = stable at just 0.3%. • Unemployment = down to 5% of available workforce. • Employment = still at a record high of 72.4%. • Earnings = rising by 2.3%. • Exports = up by 11.2% (a new record). • GDP = up by 0.4% in the last quarter. • Manufacturing Output = up 2.3% in April (the biggest rise in 4 years). • Retail Sales = up 0.9% in May.
  19. Endlessly trawling pro-Bretix websites seems to have become the sole route to truth and enlightenment on here now ... let's face it, this is certainly a sight easier than coming up with anything original and no mistake!
  20. Whatever the outcome of Thursday's vote this nation will still be a member state of the EU next week - and for years to come in reality. Therefore, I expect we shall continue to pay our negotiated EU 'membership fee' as agreed to by HMG.
  21. The most depressing thing about the notorious '£350m' lie is that survey evidence shows that a majority of the British public actually believe it now. Sickening isn't it? I can only take this is proof that by shamelessly repeating a lie it can somehow gain a kind of spurious 'currency' regardless of the real facts of the matter. I can already see Colonel Blimp chipping in with the inevitable "well David Cameron said this or David Cameron said that" type of excuse for this egregious behaviour - as if two wrongs added up to a right in his mind.
  22. I have just watched the first practice session from the new F1 street circuit at Baku. A bit like Monarco except even trickier perhaps. I've seldom seen a dry track produce so many accidents in such a short time.
  23. Just like Germany yesterday I thought that Italy looked pretty decent in their first game - but right now they appear to be ordinary at best. Why can't England go far in this competition?
  24. Any keeper can make a mistake. But what irritates me most about Joe Hart is that he appears to have all the swagger and arrogance of a truely top class proffessional sportsman (such as Lewis Hamilton for example) but without neccessarily possessing the exceptional talent required to back that up.
