  1. Anyhows - Dubai! I think 4 days/nights was the right amount of time to stay there. Went to a Friday brunch at Warehouse in Le Meridian near the airport. £60 all in, I thought the buffet was very good. A fusion one of Thai and English food. Lots of fresh fish and cravery! Had loads before realisign that we could order main meals and dessert! Stayed there till ten before hitting Barsti, although I didnt find that place that good - could be tiredness by that point. Had a look around the Dubai Mall, went to the Burj Khalifa - much better to go to At.mosphere rather than the observation deck. Burj Al Arab was a little different but good again for pictures and cocktails. Missed out on the Gold Soukh but did do some sisha in the deira late at night. Desert Safari - well worth the money. Definitely something to do when there. Also went to Cavalli and Sensation nightclubs....full of women of the night! And Phil, I never made it across the road to Staying Alive! But did go to an Irish Pub called Fibber Macgees!
  2. JPT - I've had this conversation before with Phil. However you have to question the agents in India/Pakistan/Africa etc that sell folk down the river. Plenty of locals in their own country acting as agents saying its great in the middle east, willing to take money upfront and then not caring a jot when reality is a lot different for those that move over.
  3. Went there in January and stayed in the Tribeca area - around a ten minute walk from where the World Trade center buildings were. Good place as China town, Soho and Broadway all converge there. Plenty of retaurants there to choose from. Also if you fancy a drink or meal and maybe some partying the Meat Packing District is a place to go. Range of bars/clubs/restaurants to suit all tastes from casuals to dressed up folk. If your going with your missus, take her to The Spice Market. Thai-Indo food in a decent setting plus it wont kill your wallet. Also apparently its were the gals from Sex in the City go to.....or so I have been told, so you'll get extra brownie points. Maddison Square Gardens is a good shout for either the Basketball or Ice Hockey. Post on here closer to the time if you want some restaurant names or not.
  4. What if its not you that has the problem but your boss does. If you have asked them whats wrong and what can be done to rectify the situation? Its not always easy just highlighting the issues. Your boss could just be a sh*t, who may not want to take the issues into account. P Previous company I worked for, the manager was not a people person. Who, if they were having a bad day would take it out on the staff. Several people complained to the head of department but the concerns were just ignored. Why would you want to work in an environment like that, even when you are trying your best its just not worthwhile. I think you have been fortunate to work in decent places where that isn't an issue.....I presume.
  5. You know Bearsy, I get depressed over thinking too much about planet earth sometimes. I mean whats going to happen when all the fossil fuels run out and over population? We're living the good life but what are my kids going to be facing and then their kids? Its sad, too many people think about the here and now but not tomorrow.
  6. *Sigh* Ok Shorey => Fox > Harding, its how I see it. Yes, agree that its only worthwhile buying players better than that we already have but would that be feasible across the whole team in every position. In some instances we would need decent player that could do a job so similar level. I'm not advocating dross coming in as Saints had the last time they were in the Premier League.
  7. http://www.wba.co.uk/page/News/0,,10366~2774175,00.html Have their release list out. Nicky Shorey would be good as cover for Fox as I think Harding will be found out in the premier league. Also allowing Shaw to be eased in as and when practical.
  8. Blimey, you sure you've got your sums the right way round?! Are you trying to recover the full cost of buying a diesel instead of a petrol car or will you be doing a low mpg? I did the same thing, bought a diesel fiesta and I'll make up the difference in two years (the price difference between the diesel and petrol version). Savings to be made on road tax and insurance but you have to offset the cost of a higher service I guess.
  9. River crossing on the boats hey? Sounds like an idea. And DP, I sent what you wrote on to my friend and his reply was, "he knows the crack." Ha ha, quality!
  10. Thanks DP. Going with a couple of friends who have worked out there and one of them gets a good deal on the Rolla hotel. I think they know more of the tourist areas but hey-ho. Has to be done. And yep, I am too tight for full membership considering I'm more of a lurker these days than a poster so shall look up the Dubai Saints FB page. Ohio - I wish there were magic carpet rides there!
  11. Going to Dubai for 4 days come the end of the month and was wondering if anyone could give me any ideas/tips on what to do out there (within reason of course in terms of money!). Will be doing a brunch on friday and looking at drinks at the 7-star hotel along with a meal at the restaurant up 123 floors in a relatively tall building there. Cheers!
  12. Good to have an ignore function. I can't be bothered to read posts by the same people saying 'Saints are crap, we've lost the game blah, blah, blah' minutes into a match thread. Alternatively who cares if you mix up their and there? Too many people on here act like the grammar police. Or some threads just go around in circles. Whats the point? Just agree to disagree instead of micro analysing every word and the context of the previous post!
  13. In that case can we assume it is a great laugh? I think what we need here is a poll SWF or even for you guys to get into the streets and do a census type survey asking why its a great laugh dressing up at football. Maybe then, from the results a serious conclusion could be drawn whether it is a great laugh or not. Each to their own I say. Not my thing but hey-ho it is a laugh (for me anyway) seeing costumed people out at the football.
  14. Working fine Sent from my HTC Desire Super X Special Cool Blue Edition using Tapatalk
  15. I don't see this game being a walk over as many others seem to think it is. Or maybe it's just the nerves!
  16. Really? A fan is a fan, regardless of them turning up to games or not. Hey I know lets write off the additional 'plastics' that have been going to the odd game or two home and away the last two seasons hey?
  17. Went down, did the ol' own leg trip which the players are so good at. I don't understand why he didnt try and slot it in with his left instead of carrying on though.
  18. I dont understand why didnt close the game out like previous games? Hold the ball and keep the passing simple. Too much hoofing today and all it did was come back and haunt us.
  19. FFS. They score two belters. Unbeliveable. Maybe Davis should have been more alert for the sevond. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH
  20. Sweet.
  21. To be fair Oxo is still unproven in this league...................
  22. Captain Hindsight. You will never be wrong.
  23. I love Saints. End of story.
  24. But why not? I thought you said we were the new Barcelona?
