Good good, that should settle the nerves a bit. Intrigued that it was Paul Wotton who made the marauding run forwards to make the goal! Elsewhere, Bournemouth 1-2 Cardiff

Dagenham 0-1 Reading

From what the reporter on SSN said, it seems as if Bart's been very very dodgy. Hopefully we'll get a goal to settle us down a bit. Loads of goals elsewhere: Sheff Weds 1-1 Rotherham Bournemouth 0-2 Cardiff Bristol City 0-1 Peterborough Crewe 1-0 Barnsley Ipswich 2-0 Leyton Orient Macclesfield 1-0 Blackpool Luton 1-0 Plymouth All other games with Championship teams are goalless.

Not sure about that, but Alan McInally made a couple of comments about him looking impressive on Soccer Saturday. That said, he also said that it was Holmes who put the cross in for the goal when it was actually Surman, so I guess we should probably take that with a pinch of salt!

In my defence, I only watched the penalties. Cracking entertainment

Day 5 is always cheaper than the preceding 4 days, although I'm not sure why they make it cheaper at the Oval as with that batting track it almost always goes into a 5th day.

Everyone's belatedly become interested in the "revolutionary coaching structure"... I think realistically, it's probably just a fairly slow news day. Sky always have reporters in the area anyway, usually for Pompey/Rent-a-Quote news, so while they're busy practicing hitting the goal from the penalty spot rather than the crowd, I guess they thought they'd come and have a look at what we were up to.
-
To be honest, I'm not actually that bothered about Pompey right now, particularly given that they're light years ahead of us at the moment. And yes, I'm still pretty bitter about that night, and I laughed very loudly when the Doncaster goal came through on Soccer Saturday.

Yep. Ultimately, the way I see it is as follows: The main board is for Saints discussion topics. If a fan of another club (whether it's Pompey, Arsenal, Accrington Stanley, I'm not bothered) has something sensible to add to the discussion, I've got no problem with it. If they don't, but they still decide to post on the main board, it'll be dealt with accordingly.

Any chance you might be able to post a thread in the right forum? If they want to pay the subscription fee, that's entirely up to them. They know the score regarding posting on the main forum, so I don't see what the problem is really.

You shouldn't need to create a PayPal account... when you get to the PayPal page, you'll see the following: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=12&d=1218451561 Click the link I've highlighted in the red box and you shouldn't have to create an account. Also, the subscription thing is (unfortunately) a "feature" of the paid subscriptions module on vBulletin which we can't turn off. What PayPal does is take the £5 payment and then creates a recurring subscription. You (and anyone else) are welcome to cancel the recurring subscription if you wish. I don't know if the forum automatically reminds users that their subscription is about to end via a private message or e-mail, so in a year's time you may find that, if you've not got the recurring subscription set up, your SaintsWeb account simply reverts back to a standard Registered User account rather than a Full Member account. Hope that clarifies things a bit better. PS. You could always circumvent PayPal completely by doing a bank transfer.

Because tomorrow's games aren't in the FA Cup...

There are absolutely massive differences in the way independent forums such as this one function compared to "networked" sites like the Ugly Inside. For a start, the network is owned by a profit-seeking business aiming to reward its shareholders. Site administrators on these networks, such as Nick Illingsworth on TUI, are paid to run their team's site based on a revenue-sharing scheme whereby the more popular sites earn their administrators more money than the less popular sites. The network themselves fund the entire technical infrastructure, i.e. servers, databases, site development, etc (with absolutely zero cost to the site administrator) from massive advertising revenues and outside investment. We, on the other hand, wanted something a bit more long-term (investors could pull the plug at any time, in reality) that would ensure the site was self-funding but that it was done in an "ethical" way, i.e. we have no desire to make money from forum users. We don't think it's unreasonable to ask everyone to contribute (after all, nobody had a problem when we asked for donations 18 months ago), but in order to make it viable long-term, donations simply aren't the answer as there's absolutely no guaranteed long-term revenue. It did make me laugh when someone on another forum, who will remain nameless, did a "rough" calculation expecting 1000 people to subscribe suggesting that we'll be "coining it in", which was highly amusing (and even more inaccurate). So, in conclusion, Nick gets paid to run the Ugly Inside site (not as much as he used to get on Rivals apparently, but he gets a regular monthly income stream) with no costs or technical support required on his part and nobody bats an eyelid, and yet me and Baj get accused of using the popularity of this site for our own personal gain when we have to fund the entire technical infrastructure and give up hours of our own time to manage said infrastructure, and still don't see any of the money ourselves at the end of it. Work that one out... Oh, and adverts will be appearing on here to increase the revenue, but they will be for non-subscribed users only.

A pub close to the incident had scaffolding up outside it, I think. Quite how that turned into "someone was hit over the head with a scaffolding pole", I'm not too sure!
-
Not a clue who they are (although I guess they might be quite easy to spot on Saturday! ), a friend of mine does know them though.

From what I've heard, no weapons of any description were used (with the exception of body parts), so it sounds like they "just" took a severe kicking. Apparently one needed stitches but is ok and the other is fine. While what happened was obviously unpleasant, these things do tend to get blown out of proportions.

The delay to the audio commentary is usually about 30 seconds to a minute. I don't think that's SaintsTV's fault as it's Radio Hampshire who provide the audio feed.
