  1. Exactly. The fact that absolutely nothing has happened on that front only backs up the "tyre kicker" theory, whether Fulthorpe and co like it or not.
  2. You might as well have just said "Have you heard whether Dominic Matteo is supposed to be coming here?"
  3. I'd have to agree. I spoke to someone supposedly involved in the deal some months ago who intimated that they were very close to actually getting something in writing and putting it on the table. The same sort of comment was reeled out to two people I know at one of the pre-season games in the Mick Channon suite, and then again to different people I know in the corporate area at Doncaster Rovers last month. It's been "you'll hear something in the next couple of weeks" for the last six months.
  4. Two of which were from set-pieces, something Arsenal are notoriously rubbish at.
  5. Which of course is entirely the fault of the players we've signed since the end of last season...
  6. I seem to remember someone (maybe Jonah) doing some digging and discovering that Derby pay much lower rates than SFC do, despite their respective stadia being pretty much the same size.
  7. Yep, which makes me feel slightly better with the current situation because, to my knowledge, HMRC has no issues with us at the moment.
  8. Correct. As far as I'm aware, while we owe significant money to both Norwich Union and Barclays Bank, we have ensured that HMRC aren't on the wrong side of us so they would not play a part in any CVA negotiations. Whether NU and BB would accept a fraction of their owings as full and final settlement, only they would know. If they don't accept what's on offer, we would then be subject to the second points deduction as the Football League's solvency rules state that any team exiting administration must have a CVA agreed by creditors accounting for at least 75% of the total debt.
  9. Un-****ing-believable.
  10. It really does take something special for a team to be so rubbish defensively that they concede any goals to Arsenal from set-pieces, but to concede two in one game is just ridiculous. My heart bleeds...
  11. Two things: 2nd October was quite a while ago. Surely midnight on 2nd November would be Sunday night/Monday morning?
  12. A quick look at that ever-reliable () site Wikipedia tells me that both UKIP and the Referendum Party had candidates standing for election in the 1997 General Election, so UKIP certainly wasn't formed as a result of Goldsmith's death. In fact, Wikipedia's entry for the Referendum Party says that "most Referendum Party candidates, activists and supporters were of Eurosceptic, but some were pro-European".
  13. To be fair, I don't think Euell was maligned too much after Nigel Pearson was appointed. The best thing Pearson did for us, in my opinion, was to get decent performances out of both Euell and Inigo Idiakez, both of whom had been utter **** previously. Davis has generally been fairly consistent, but he's received very short shrift from those who still remember the costly ****-ups he made early on in his Saints career against Preston and QPR. Yes, he's not particularly commanding, but I'd rather have an excellent shot-stopper than someone who can take crosses but can't save anything. Also, his distribution has improved dramatically this season.
  14. I thought Euell was excellent last night and gave McGoldrick someone to work off of as he was always looking to get forward to support him and also making runs beyond the front man as well, which is something we've lacked all season really.
  15. Not true. He was a candidate for the Referendum Party, who have absolutely no ties to UKIP at all.
  16. Having been witness to the Stuart Gray and Steve Wigley episodes in the Premier League, I think we're in prime position to pass comment, to be honest! The current situation is borne out of necessity rather than choice.
  17. The cost per kwH is a bit more these days - the average back in 2006 was 11.89p (according to this site), and we've seen significant increases since then, so I'd possibly go as far as to say it's nearly doubled. Therefore assume 20p per kwH, which would make £174.40 just to power the floodlights for two hours. While it doesn't sound a lot, consider that a lot of people wouldn't necessarily use that much energy in their home in a month... That said, the energy prices clearly aren't going to be the straw that breaks the camel's back in terms of our debt levels!
  18. They're spam bots, usually originating from Russia or China. Fortunately, because we use a two-stage registration filter process, none of them ever get through to actually being able to post, although just their profiles being available can be a problem in terms of search engine listings. I try to delete as many of them as and when they register, and the domain names they register from get added to the blocked domains list we maintain.
  19. Lancashire's suspended...
  20. He's younger than me, which - in my eyes at least - makes him a youngster Robertson's been a bit of a strange one so far, he was outstanding against Norwich but I'm not sure I remember him actually touching the ball against Watford! Smith being available again is useful, particularly as it may mean that Wright-Phillips won't have to play. I'd like to see Pekhart given another go. While he's not set the world alight in the games he's played so far, he's the sort of player who should be able to hold the ball up a lot better than we have been doing in recent games. Defenders will make mistakes, but they will be more likely to make MORE mistakes if we're constantly defending, and if we're not keeping hold of the ball up front, we'll be defending for the vast majority of the game.
  21. They've won a few already this season.
  22. In an ideal world, we'd have probably implemented both of those. However, there are now regulations which have to be adhered to when building a stadium, one of which I think basically means that the stands have to be a certain distance from the playing area to enable an ambulance to drive around it in case of an emergency, and another limits the gradient of the stands so that it's not too steep. If you look around the country at all of the new stadia, I don't think I can think of any which have any sort of "character" which makes them stand out from the others. I'm sure it won't be long before every stadium in the top two divisions are built along the same soulless "flat-pack" concept, simply because it seems to have been proven to be the most cost-effective way of doing it.
  23. I don't think he was convicted of a criminal offence. He was guilty of taking a bung, but I don't think any criminal proceedings were brought against him. David Pleat is probably correct, but I'm guessing he didn't serve time for kerb-crawling.
  24. Destined to end well, that appointment... A question posed on another forum I regularly visit: would Adams be the first convicted criminal to manage a Premier League club?
