  8. The ball has still done a bit, even as it's got old, but they've missed anything close to the edge for the most part, and we've dropped two fairly straightforward catches in the slips. If Weatherly had taken the one off Lyth in the second over this morning, today could have panned out very differently. Warwickshire looking alright today at the Oval, and Jamie Overton has gone off injured so Surrey are a bowler down.
  9. Think we've generally always entered the Hampshire Senior Cup, it's the Southampton Senior Cup that we've usually swerved - we entered a few years back as it was an anniversary year of some sort, possibly the 100th or 150th year of the competition?
  10. Would definitely have taken a 59-run lead when we were 70-odd for 6, but having looked so comfortable once Brown and Barker got themselves settled, it does rather feel like those last 4 wickets were given away a little bit too cheaply. Surrey managed to burgle their way to 319 against Warwickshire in the end, so they've got two more batting points than we have here.
  11. The ball is doing all sorts. Yorkshire only had two players make double figures (although both got beyond 50), so it seems like a case of just having to tough it out.
  12. But it was a crappy outground that, last week, looked like it was meandering to a high-scoring and dull draw before Yorkshire shit the bed in their second innings. It's the middle of the summer, it should be perfect conditions for outgrounds, but we've had a week of shit weather after weeks of unusually hot and dry weather - not really much anyone can do about that.
  13. Looks difficult batting conditions this morning. While Felix Organ is capable of scoring a century on a relatively flat deck in scorching heat at Cheltenham, I'm not sure he'll have the technique to survive long here...
  14. Odd - the scorecard I saw on Cricinfo just after play started didn't have him listed.
  15. And yet Wheal is not in the Warwickshire team at the Oval. Bizarre. Great start at Scarborough having lost the toss, Yorkshire were 8/3 currently 17/3 off 12
  16. The bigger question for me with Surrey is how on earth they manage to get within the salary cap with the squad they have
  17. Bowled Gloucestershire out for 201, enforcing the follow-on, and they're already 14/2. Elsewhere, Essex had Surrey right where they (and we) wanted them in the first innings at 112/7 and 167/8 but Will Jacks got 150* to see them to 319, and Essex are 186/9 in their second, a lead of 138. Bit of rain forecast around lunchtime tomorrow, but otherwise that looks like another Surrey win.
  18. They have some expensive and very well paid players, certainly, but Lampard isn't the first manager to struggle to get much out of them. They've strengthened defensively with Tarkowski, which will help, but they've lost a player who single-handedly won them games last season and don't appear to have the money to replace him. Relying pretty heavily on Calvert-Lewin to regain the spark he had a year ago. I do suspect you're right that they'll bin him off mid-season, though.
  19. There was a full rerun of all three games on Sky Sports Cricket today - obviously too late now, but they might be on the Catchup section of the Sky EPG for the rest of the week.
  20. Finishing later, it seems. Started at 11 today, with 104 overs to be bowled. Felix Organ has a century, still can't get a handle on whether he's good or not, seems to be such an "all or nothing" batsman. Need to kick on a bit here though, batting points likely to be important.
  21. Decent save it may have been (and not hit right in the corner as it needed to be), but I assume there's been some sort of directive to the officials to not give a shit about keepers staying on their line this season - that save was made about halfway between the goal line and the edge of the six yard box
  22. Second half has definitely switched from an iPhone to a potato.
  23. Also worth bearing in mind they are weeks ahead of us in terms of fitness and readiness - they played the first round of the cup at the weekend and their first league game is on Saturday.
  24. Worth noting that Watford tickets are still available, and they've dropped the number of aways required down to what appears to be around 8 or 9.
  25. The 15-run over off Bess was preceded by a 7-ball over which was a 6-ball maiden followed by a single. First ball of the Bess over then went over the ropes. How the hell are first-class umpires allowing 7-ball overs in the modern game?!
