Did BWP & McGoldrick attack a Saints fan?
Gorgiesaint replied to StuRomseySaint's topic in The Saints
You're right, it does take a strong manager to get a group of players moulded into athletes - but isn't that what the manager is paid to do? It wouldn't have taken much to put on extra training on Saturday to compensate for the missing game - would the players then have gone out on the lash? Not sure I want the team having extra days off when they are in the predicament they are in. -

I'm not going to comment on the apparent DMG & BWP situation, as it is just rumour at the moment. However several people have commented that they might have had a few words with the players themselves had they seen them out larging it up. Others have been criticle of that action. What I would comment on is that these players are supposed to be athletes. Ok so their game got postponed, but they are 2nd bottom of the league with a record (since WGS left) of not being the fittest group in the world compared to their peers. So who thought it was a good idea to even let them go out on the lash on Friday or Saturday or whenever, wouldn't some extra training so they now how to shoot or defend a corner have been a better idea? -
Perhaps he was bringing down Chris Iwelumo's draft piece for insertion into the half year figures for Rupes to cast his eye over!!

Askham, Richards, Windsor-Clive, Withers, Wilde
Gorgiesaint replied to Channon's Sideburns's topic in The Saints
Well Michael Richards, tonight, consider that trust relieved because you certainly will know that on 21st Feb at the Preston game. So sell your shares now & start convincing your cronies to do likewise. -
Working on Saturdays at the wrong end of the country, not been able to make it down for any games at SMS thisseason. So today I managed to get 2 days off to come down for the Preston game. Well thanks very f*cking much SFC, I'll now be able to come down for a boycott!!! On the bright side, should be a good march!!

If it took the bloke 10 days to pass a medical, then there is no way he should have been signed!!! and didn't he have a broken bone in his foot/ankle anyway? In which case, what sort of cr*p medical did he pass?

Just to be Controversial regarding Transfers out
Gorgiesaint replied to Secret Site Agent's topic in The Saints
MLT certainly was very loyal to Saints, and possibly one of the reasons for that was remembering what happened to Steve Williams when he moved to Arsenal. Not sure it would be fair to compare Surman & Lallana to MLT just yet, there is a slight difference between moving to a top 4 club & someone like Reading or Fulham - and a huge difference in the wages. That said maybe the influence of retaining that idol status with the Saints crowd may be something to do with it. -
According to the Scottish NOTW, Hearts are looking at a unnamed German Striker currently playing in Spain - so they have no real idea then!! Would be good news with £8k off the weekly wage bill, although if wanted a fee then we might have found a better club than Hearts who struggle to pay their players at times. That said they look like they're getting £2m plus from Wolves for Christophe Berra, so now would be the time!!

Hmm you may well be right. I would think that Barclays would be unlikely to pull the plug with a load of customers being fans, so boycotting the bank just removes that leverage we have with them.
-
Maybe, just maybe the wrong people are being targetted. We've talked about targetting Wilde, Askham, etc as Lowe's support but the one group that no-one has spoken about is Barclays. How many Barclays customers do we have on here, or out of the 15k regulars. How would Barclays feel if instead of 1500 people marching, it was 1500 people closing their accounts? But any protest against Barclays would have to be extremely careful, it is much easier for that sort of protest to be jumped on by other, less desirable protesters with other issues.
-
Well done to everyone concerned with todays march, great to hear so many turned out & behaved in the way Southampton fans usually do. Let's hope we're first up on The Championship tomorrow!!
-
Yes when you re-read the article: The threat to kill the multimillionaire businessman was made just hours after Saints boss Jan Poortvliet resigned from the club. Makes you even more suspicious that this allegedly happened last Friday & gets made public now - 2 days before the march.
-
As you say 2 days before the march. If this is genuine, why target Wilde? All that is required of him initially is to withdraw his support of Lowe. Could it be that its because he potentially may be there on Saturday & Lowe is off skiing.... Be interested to see what Hampshire Constabulary have to say about it. That said if it is genuine, then extremely stupid & not something we want associated with our club.
-
Now the true contents of the letter Lowe waived around at the AGM can be revealed, surprised it took Lowe so long to leave it on Wilde;s desk!!
-
Has BWP now learnt the offside rule to be able to play up front? Seriously I think Saga & DMG together might be able to put a run of goals together.

You have to actually wonder what Wotte has been doing all season, cos he sure as hell ain't been watching the football produced under JP. Put out the side that JP would have done & we're 2 down, playing useless football. Put a second striker & guess what happens....
-
So has Wotte found the missing plan b? (Shame his plan a was so c**p)
-
You're right, he's not registered in England or Holland http://www.fifa.com/associations/association=eng/footballofficials/agents/peoplekind=pag.html http://www.fifa.com/associations/association=ned/footballofficials/agents/peoplekind=pag.html If we are not paying him, then who is? I can't believe an agent (or anyone else) would spend as much time at the club without any form of retainer. It would appear from the independant article in Voetbal International (a well respected publication) that vd Waals has a deal of influence beyond that of an agent or advisor. Lowe & Wilde need to know that another straw has been added to the camel's back!!
-
Your words are truly ironic Nineteen Canteen. What you and your paymaster continually miss is that having a genuine connection with the fans is a massively important concern when dealing with an entertainment based inductry. The fact that you suggest MC should look to Sir Bobby Charlton as an example is laughable given how Lowe treats his 'customers'. I would be surprised if he knew who Sir Bobby was! Secondly, you suggest that a paid CEO would be a better alternative to Crouch taking over - that I would agree with if the right person were to be found - but I would also suggest that it is essential for the future of this club that an independant paid CEO to take over from Lowe & Wilde is even more important. And please do not query my intelligence by trying to justify Lowe's position, you know why he's there but even with your blinkers on, you must appreciate that he's playing a losing game.

Demonstration for Swansea game- Time and place!!
Gorgiesaint replied to scott_saints's topic in The Saints
To reduce the debt, you have to make a profit or create debt elsewhere. Minstral Man is on a wind-up, I don't believe its PR plant as the figures are just too good so I'll happily assume he's a skate. -

So would you mind revealing the source of this information? If this is true, then it surely demonstrates that costs have been overcut & that Lowe's assertions that we could not afford Pearson were pure fantasy. -
New striker - signed? According to Dutch Media
Gorgiesaint replied to ladysaint's topic in The Saints
Looks like a free transfer, dependant on FC Twente signing Nikita Rukavytsya from the Australian side for €600k - nothing on either transfer on the FC Twente official site Apologies - mis-translated part of it - he is out of favour at the moment with the Tukkers (FC Twente's nickname) -
OS Confirmed Michael Svennson - New Assistant Coach
Gorgiesaint replied to steadyeddie's topic in The Saints
Look I don't know whether MS will be a success as much as the next man however... ... he has a pride in the football club which most agreed was beneficial for the younger players to experience - this just gives him a chance to put that across even more. People have commented that Svennson & Lundekvam were one of best central defensive partnerships - there was only one leader & one communicator out of the two of them & that's MS - that's why Claus looked so poor on his own when Michael got injured. First thing the club has done right in long time IMO (& time will tell!!) -
Can only wish Jan all the best. At times he came across very well, and although he tried hard, circumstances were always against him. However he has more dignity & pride in his little finger than in Lowe & Wilde combined.

Best I can do at this time of night, but looking at Wotte's record at the major clubs - it reads like this The Eredivsie which the top league in Holland The Eerstedivisie (now the Jupiler League) which is their 2nd division 91-92 FC Den Haag - Eredivisie 16th out of 18 - relegated 96-97 ADO Den Haag - Eerstedivise 8th out of 18 97-98 ADO Den Haag - Eerstedivisie 5th out of 18 98-99 FC Utrecht - Eredivisie 12th out of 18 99-00 FC Den Bosch - Eredivisie 18th out of 18 - relegated* 02-03 Willem II - Eredivisie 11th out of 18 03-04 Willem II - Eredivisie 7th out of 18 06-07 RKC Waalwijk - Eredivisie 17th out of 18 - relegated * Wotte was only at Den Bosch for the last few months of the season, but appears couldn't help them Unfortunately this doesn't bode well, he's had lots of practice at being relegated!! As Paulsaint points out later - finishing 16th or 17th usually means a playoff for promotion/relegation - 18th is the only place that usually gets straight relegation (if my memory serves me correctly)
