  1. Frankly, I don't give a flying f*** abut the Burnley fans - what I do care about is SFC & its fans. You need to take the reality check if you think what happened yesterday was acceptable.
  2. And that still rankles with many fans. But of course if it us doing it, then it must be ok
  3. Lordswood - if all the Saints fans on the pitch had been doing what you were doing, there wouldn't be an outcry. You probably couldn't see the scale of what was going on in from of the Burnley fans - you may well feel differently when you've seen the tv footage.
  4. Mike, I wasn't lucky enough to be at the Sheff Utd game last season, but did several hundred fans run straight at the Sheff Utd supporters or was it a case of lets get on the pitch to celebrate? I suspect it was the latter. Whilst it is wrong to be on the pitch, I can understand it and I have no problem with that. But I do I have a problem with the several hundred who ran straight over to the Burnley fans to goad them. It makes me laugh to read people saying that the police made it worse by bringing out 4-5 dogs in front of the Northam. I am sure the chavs involved weren't thinking we'll just get on the pitch peacefully, but now they've got police dogs out so lets try & have a fight with Burnley crowd? Lets hope that all involved are identified & given life bans from SMS. There is no excuse for what happened today.
  5. That just about sums it up for me. If I had a choice, I would get rid of & go for someone like Boothroyd. Wotte has been responsible for some poorly motivated sides & his tactics / selections are dubious. The 2nd half today was an example of him not influencing the team in a positive manner.
  6. A few.. maybe a few hundred Do you really think the FL will view it as a 'non event'? I don't care if it was a few bottles - thats a few bottles too many, and if you think posturing with the old bill in that manner is acceptable then run along & be hooligan somewhere else.
  7. Absolutely disgraceful - the pride that I had built up watching my team since the old div 2 days under Lawrie has taken a battering, but the scenes at the end today hve sucked the last bit of pride out of me. When we went into admin, I remember reading a comment from a Luton fan ona forum saying we deserved the 10 point penalty because we were a bunch of hooligans - at that time I thought it was rich coming from a Luton fan. Actually he was right & I was wrong - tonight I am ashamed to be a Saints fan. And people want to come on here trying to defend those involved with baiting the Burnley fans, what did you expect them to do, clap our mob for attacking them? That caps the season - and its not like we were trying to project a positive image so someone might put their hand in their pocket to save us....
  8. The ideal world is that we do keep SMS as part of the club. Second best option is someone buys it & we get a long term lease agreed with them. The nightmare option (other than the club folding) is that the club survives & the stadium is sold to a proprty developer who promptly pulls it down. Groundsharing is ok, but how many grounds within easy reach of Southampton are up to L1 standard & would be capable of holding 12-14k (at a guess of what our regular L1 attendance might be). If we get promoted, the situation is even worse. This has massive impacts on revenue generation so, combined with the fact that Aviva will probably accept much less than whats owed, itis vital we retain SMS. Lets face it, if we have to build another stadium, how long is that going to take? We don't have a great record it that regard...
  9. Very true but I bet he couldn't afford the pay cut!! ;-)
  10. Stanley, I would agree that administration has been inevitable, that much is clear from the accounts of the last few years. You have no doubts there is more than one party who can buy Saints - lots of people can buy Saints, the big question is will they buy Saints? You have no doubts that we will have new owners in 2 weeks - good, because I have major doubts that we'll even exist & even if we do get bought, we still need to find out what our new owners will have in store for us. Remember, without a plc, there will be even less transparency.
  11. Why would Fry not reveal the true position? Surely to those who had signed a NDA he would have to disclose the true position, sure he may not want the truth in the public domain but if the situation is that bad then maybe thats where the 24 days came from? I notice Darlington have had their administration extended, I read somewhere that the administrator said that they could extend up to 18 months although it wasn't desirable. If Crouch (& hence Chorley) have gone against the wishes of the administrator, this cannot be for the best interests of club. So have Fry & Crouch just spun Chorley line (knowing he would blab to the press) so they try & maximise revenue from Saturdays game?
  12. Like many who have posted before, I thought this would not happen. But what is most concerning is what UEFA have said today - effectively that thy would not veto Celtic & Rangers moving to Prem 1 & 2. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/8006934.stm However, it would appear that the FL can block the proposal - let's hope they do!!
  13. The only reason the SFC job is a big one is because we are in a massive hole right now. You need to get over the fact that we have no divine right to be in the prem - we are not a big club FACT.
  14. Piecing together statements, my opinion is that the overdraft reduced from abut £6.5m to £4m which is quite impressive. Despite that it would appear that Barclays had little confidence is Lowe's ability to steer the club in the right direction... which is a pretty damning indictment.
  15. The blame is not entirely Lowe's, Wilde & to a lesser extent Crouch also share the blame but Lowe takes the majority as he has overseen our relegation from the prem & the CCC (because yes we are going down). We are not where we are now because of Lowe's 9 months in charge So are you really saying that there were no alternatives to Lowes cunning plan - I'm sorry but getting rid of Pearson & blaming cost when he was talking to JP & Wotte before he took over is a joke. I appreciate Lowe had some tough decisions to be made but as he has proven previously, he often gets decisions wrong (e.g. Sturrock, Gray, Wigley) That said, I believe that Lowe was well meaning - just incompetent.
  16. Yes - Dyer was doing such a fantastic job at SFC wasn't he?
  17. and which club would have had the potential to be promoted straightaway? Not a Lowe-led SFC in L1 - you're forgetting reduced income (coupled with lower salary costs) but a steady cost of maintaining the stadium debt, even less people through the turnstiles, etc, etc The overdraft would only be going one way hence Barclays decision to cut their losses.
  18. The problem is that Barclays don't decide when we breach our overdraft. To be fair to Lowe, it could be one of two options: either he is incompetent in managing his cash flow and predictions, or as you say he is an arrogant tw*t.
  19. 19C, you really are a complete numpty at times Duckhunter has already responded regarding the breach of overdraft. This is the £500k that Lowe should have taken from Swansea in Jan that would have seen us safe until the end of the season http://www.thisishampshire.net/sport/hampshiresport/4094249.Swansea_refuse_to_increase_Dyer_bid/
  20. Talk about a rollercoaster - 8 days ago they take 40,000 to Wembley & win the Johnstones Paint Trophy, and now they know they are no longer a football league club. Football should be decided on the pitch, not by polititians.
  21. Saints v Cardiff - we won 3-1, would have been around 76 or 77 (after the cup final),stood in what became the cage in the corner of the Archers Road end. Happy days!
