If we keep him, we only have one unhappy player to deal with. It'll be hard for him to keep up his attitude after 1st Sept. However if we sell, we may well have at least two unhappy players, in Bertrand & Cedric, plus any others who think they can pull the same stunt. I feel that Les needs to stand firm on this one. The Gao's also need to set a precedent as well. Sell and they'll be seen as profit takers by other clubs and the fans.

Are you seriously trying to compare Forster with Gazzaniga? Gianluigi Buffon hasn't improved much over the last few years but that doesn't make him a poor goalkeeper (and I am in no way comparing Forster with Buffon!) Interesting analysis by Goalie66, but I think you've missed one area. Forster, IMO, has never recovered his form he had prior to getting injured. I would not only look at changing the coaching as you suggested, but also consider whether he should seek help from a sports psychologist. I wonder if mentally he has fully recovered form his injury.

Well Sims is injured (not sure when he's back), and at €750k it's not the most expensive deal in the world. If he's that good a prospect then worth a gamble.
-
My gut feeling is that the deal is in place, but we're waiting for Lazio to agree a deal for his replacement.

Even funnier are the players who leave teams like those you mention (who are pretty much guaranteed to win their league, at least one cup each season and leave the Champions League football) to get a bigger salary in a more competitive league who then complain about not winning things and appearing in the Champions League.

Lazio are talking to Milan about signing Gabriel Paletta as a replacement for Hoedt according to Gianluca Di Marzio http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/lazio-paletta-is-the-main-target-to-replace-hoedt-whos-on-his-way-to-southampton

Couple of updates from an Italian journalist this morning http://www.gianlucadimarzio.com/en Regarding Luciano Vietto, Sampdoria have supposedly agreed a fee with Athletico Madrid at €20m, however they are struggling to agree terms with the player. He's quoting a current salary of €2.4m and Sampdoria are only offering €1.6m plus bonuses. Other options for Sampdoria that they are considering are Inglese from Chievo Verona and Luan from Gremio. The translation isn't great but I read into it that Luan has declined a move to Spartak Moscow and Sampdoria have made an initial bid for him somewhere in the region of €16m to €18m. The other update is regarding Yann Karamoh (remember him from the start of the transfer window). The young French winger, currently at Caen, was supposed to be joining Inter Milan. However Caen are holding out for a transfer fee of €10m, which Inter have not yet met.

See Eljaro Elia has just scored for Istanbul Basaksehir against Sevilla in the Champions League qualifier.

I'd be shocked if he was on Napoli's bench given he plays for Lazio...

Dier is a centre back by trade and was converted to a defensive midfielder by Pochettino, so hiim being third choice CB at Spurs ahead of Wimmer is not that surprising, especially when they have Wanyama to step in as the defensive midfielder. Valverde has only just started there, Luis Enrique was there for 3 years. Prior to that Tito Vilanova and Gerardo Martino were there for a season each (Vilanova stepped down due to cancer) so whilst you're right, you're taking it from the end of Vilanova's reign to the start of Valverde's. You're also ignoring that Pep was there for 4 years prior to Vilanova. The slow start is more to do with Valverde just starting, and the fact that they played most of the game with 10 men as Deulofeu had to start in Neymar's role. The fact tey can't defend doesn't help!

Exactly, it's not like we post quotes from the papers on here and 'breach' their copyright...

An alternative would be: 1) VvD is happy at Saints and his agent 2) New agent taps him up promising more money 3) Gets injured and has time to consider how short his career might be so changes agent 4) Gets new agent to engineer the move At the end of the day it's pure speculation but it would be interesting to know how much certain agents tap up other agents clients. I suspect it might be more widespread than is commonly known.

If it's taken Lander that long to get the funds out of China to buy us, then how long will it take them to get some funds to actually invest in the club (if they want to)? Which means any funds for investment will need to be raised in the UK, which means debt. I wish Kat would pull the plug on the deal now.

Finished 1-1 with Dundee United winning 4-3 on penalties. Two saves in the penalty shoot out. Made a couple of decent saves during the game, no chance with the Dundee goal but did look poor in his decision making when coming for crosses. Kicked pretty well with both feet when he needed to. Hopefully he'll get plenty of game time in the Championship which will do him good.

Starts for Dundee United today in the derby against Dundee. Live now on BT Sport 1.

Fraser Forster has just signed a new five year deal, having signed one last year... coincidence?
-
And by only signing one player rather than two or three, the wages should be cheaper as well which makes the spend easier to fit with expenditure rules. Still would be surprised if it happened.

or players even...

So any rumours about okayers we might sign? (Perhaps they've been spotted at the Mayflower or getting off a P&O cruise.... )

Nick Holmes, Chris Marsden, surprised no-one has said Anders Svensson. Always wanted Yoann Folly to succeed.
-
William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon (hopefully Cedric's been tapping him up at the Confederations Cup)

Not sure it's a lack of respect. In the same way that players (and we've had plenty) that want to move to a bigger and supposedly better clubs to improve themselves (putting the money aside for moment), why shouldn't the club try and sign players who are better than what we have. Most people on here respect Yoshi for what he's done over the last few years, but feel we could do better. It's the same as getting rid of Adkins to bring in Pochettino, but also the same as Lovren, Lallana, Schneiderlein & Wanyama all leaving. It has to work both ways.

WUM = Wind-up Merchant HTH

Probably that it shouldn't take them so long to source the funds, and if they're that skint then Kat should have pulled the plug on the deal. If they end up borrowing the money from somewhere then we end up with owners with no cash and lots of debt. Not in the best interests of the club I would say.

Couple more from Spain that have been missed out are Sporting Gijon and Logrones. Granada have also played in red & white stripes but have changed to hoops for the last few years. In Italy, Vicenza also pay in red & white stripes.
