How long before we reclaim our rightful position above the Skates?
Gorgiesaint replied to Mole's topic in The Saints
I think thats the key bit. I will worry about the lot down the road when I stop worrying about whether Saints will be around next week!! -
Neither Pinnacle or the FL come out of this with much credit regarding their statements. This puzzles me as well - if we cannot provide a CVA for the entity that has gone into administration then a further points deduction would have followed. If we had argued that the club is a separate entity, hence no CVA, would the league have ruled that we are a new 'club' and forced us further down teh pyramid?
-
Not sure that Fry can threaten to wind up the club on Friday whilst there are still bidders out there. If Nottm Forest have paid £1m for DMG then half of that is used to pay June's wages, some is due to Notts C (not sure how much), and some is used to keep the club functioning in the meantime. If Surman goes for £1.5m that must keep us going for at least 2 months?? This surely allows us to get into next season, albeit still admin like Darlington have been, and drawing in revenue from the gate. So I'm hoping that whilst there are bidders there is still hope. (and I'm sure the FL won't want the ignomy of a club failing mid season)
-
That is the question that I have come up with as well. it doesn't make sense, unless you make the assumption that DMG was going anyway (and given his desire to move to Nottingham for family reasons then its not unreasonable). Perhaps Pinnacle (and I'm not ITK) have factored this anyway, perhaps there was more to TL's visit to Staplewood last week? Who knows - no one on here anyway. So let's just wait & see what happens. Edit - If Surman goes that is a whole different question - but lets not go there just yet
-
No surprise given his desire to move back to Nottingham with his family situation. Seems to a decent fee - surprised that Forest would pay £1m + for a player who could have been out of contract in 2 weeks without a takeover going ahead so does this say anything about a deal being done? Let's hope he doesn't join a long line of ex-strikers to come back & bite having left SFC - Blackstock, Best, Davies, Beattie, Phillips and so on (sure I've missed some out...)
-
Do you know why? Is it a) Upset that the Fl won't back down b) Upset with Saints fans reactions to his unveiling c) Its my ball & I'm going to play with it d) He doesn't have & never had the money e) All of the above
-
Both correct IMO. The problem with the FL is that they seem to be flexible with their own rules when it suits them (eg you holding company is in admin so here's a 10 point penalty) and rigid also when it suits them (eg the CVA issue). If they were consistant in their approach then you could understand it, oh and then you get no right of appeal.
-
IMO if I understand this right, shows the speed that the FL are working at here. I would bet Pinnacle have pushed to get this resolved quickly so they could complete and pay the wages today, and the response was... pay is not FL's problem. Thats the FL caring for it's members!!!
-
Just a thought - if the wages are not paid today which now seems likely, surely the the football club will be forced into administration. Therefore if Pinnnacle agree to then subsequently pay the wages, there will have been no real change in the position of the creditors. Under those circumstances, what is stopping us getting a CVA agreed for the football club & negating the issue about further points penalties?
-
I'm not sure you're right on this, surely it would be held by the football club BUT if you are right then a) this could be Lowes final stab in the back to Saints and b) could be the reason that the FL are refusing any appeal, saying that to transfer the licence, we would have to accept the 10 point penalty
-
Actually a valid point. The assumption appears to be that the fight is over the 10 point deduction, but could it actually be that Pinnacle are fighting against a further points deduction (ie FL want a further 15 because we don't have CVA & Pinnacle say we don't need one?) If they are fighting the 10 points then fair play to them, but I for one would just accept & lets get on with planning for the new season.
-
That is interesting, like you I was intending to get a membership to help get tickets for away games (living in Edinburgh & working Saturdays means a season ticket is a non-runner - plastic me!!) Interesting also that Junior Saints membership is £15 for the year with entry to 5 games with a paying adult - thats a good encouragement to get some kids along & start up the next generation of Saints fans. I don't remember previous offers being that good although I will stand corrected if anyone can remember.

Who else is wetting themselves at the prospect
Gorgiesaint replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
I would be excited except midweek games in the South of England means zero chance of getting to any of them due to work. But the chance of getting to Wembley is something we should be excited about. So as Lee Saint says, we'll probably get knocked out by a L2 team in the first round!! -
Would have preferred a clean sweep but never mind. If Crouch is on the board then as long as a)he's not chairman & b)he's not a spokesman then fair enough. Maybe Pinnacle needed Crouch on board to replace the three that dropped out, so in that case would you prefer Pinnacle/Crouch or the MJ/Green bid? Final point, many have argued for some 'fan' involvement with the board. If this is true, then at least Crouch will provide that - after all, it's much better than having Illingsworth or Chorley on the board!!!!
-
Certainly they are a founder member of the Football League but I think you'll find it was Forest who were the founder members of the Premier League
-
Perhaps it will come out that Pompey will have been take over by the Middle East's finest photocopier salesman....
-
Yes, he's a massive Celtic fan - only one of two people apparantly with life-long tickets at Celtic Park according to the paper thsi morning.I would not be surprised if he's in and around the boardroom there as well.
-
Just got in from work & it's great to see some positive news for a change. Question though, if Pinnacle have paid the up front fee to allow us to pay wages, does that mean Dyer won't be going to Swansea for a paltry £400k?
-
I was going to title this the difference between the Premier League and the lesser mortals, but then it got me thinking. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/w/west_ham_utd/8068771.stm The bit that intrigues me, and admittedly is a comment Mihir Bose who is never the most reliable journalist on the beeb, which says "If an amount cannot be agreed then the creditors of Hansa - West Ham's holding company - will effectively take over the club and wait for a better time to sell the Hammers." Now WHU's holding company is in voluntary liquadation - arguably worse than the current predicament of SLH. Would Aviva & Barclays consider holding on to the club as a going concern rather than sell at a knock-down price? As an add-on - why haven't WHU been docked 10 points like us (I know its run by the FA rather than the FL but its the same game)
-
Odds on he says that something may happen in the next 48 hours!! The good news is that he's more optimistic, so it'll be another day of overusing the F5 key then.....
-
Two reasons- One- There is no guarantee that Wilde & Lowe would have sold their shares at that price, IMO Lowe would have held out to the bitter end in the belief that he would have turned things around. Two- Assuming you could buy the shares at a cheap price, and pay off the overdraft - you are still looking at re-negotiating £24m of stadium debt. What if Aviva say 'no thanks, we're happy with the terms'. Potentially you've just thrown the millions spent buying the club down the pan because you still can't service the stadium debt and you end up in administration anyway. Administration does give the best opportunity for clearance of the debt, it's also the last chance for Aviva & Barclays to claw any money back so they will be asking Fry to play hardball with anyone & everyone.
-
They're a meat market in London - it's where most of our cr*p players will end up if we go into liquidation & they don't get taken up by Blue Square teams!!! Any chance we can send an ex-director or two there as well....
-
But the fact you think you're the worlds biggest means you can't be Sorry Spades - I've just blown any value to bjk's autograph.
-
I must admit to having no working perspective of administration. But Fry did extend the deadline until late this afternoon - which means that the Pinnacle group must have been v close to doing a deal. As we've not reached the deadline, I take this (IMO) as Fry's get your money on the table call to them & also a warm up for any other group wanting to come in with a late bid.
