  1. Actually, I don't think Pardew's thoughts are that much different (IMO). He has said he would like some of the fringe players out on loan to get experience, I just don't think he's had the squad long enough to decide on his first 11. That will come in the next couple of weeks when the final blocks of Jaidi & Papa Waigo drop into place. I then expect a pretty stable 11 to be fielded but we'll see.....
  2. No why don't we judge him 6 games into a 46 games season Just what do people want? Do you want Pardew sacked so we can start again for the umpteenth time. If so, who would you like in? If not then yes, you also have a right to be critical but do you think Pardew is happy with the start we've made. The attitude that we should be beating teams like this because we're Southampton is large part of the problem - who knows, perhaps some of the players have previously thought like that. The back is starting to look sorted - we were very short up front on Saturday. This week we'll hopefully get Waigo and Saga will be back from watching international football, that should give us a boost up front.

The situation I always remember was against Arsenal in (I think) 78. The game had finished and the OB were just about to herd the Arsenal fans out of Archers Road & back down Hill Lane to the station so they were taking up all of the road. Someone who obviously didn't like his Saturday afternoon being delayed just decided to try and drive straight through the Arsenal fans!! Needless to say, he didn't get very far & didn't have an undamaged panel left. I left (being only about 8 at the time) with 3 of them on the roof!!!
  4. I've not yet seen Saints this season due to work commitments & living in Scotland, so I only get to see highlights, match reports in the papers and SWF to follow whats happening. From that outside perspective, the start of this season does look similar to last season - an under-prepared squad (all be it for different reasons) and taking time to get the first league win although some decent performances. That said, last season, we were never going to improve with the side we had. This season, I do feel more confident that when this side gels we will be capable of going on a run and pull ourselves up the table. But the side has to gel. No doubt, Charlton away will be tough - but then we have games against Yeovil, Carlisle & Bristol Rovers which are all winnable. If we come out of the back of those games and we still don't have a win then that is the time to start being concerned.
  5. Haha - love the quote by Bagpuss in the Guardian article on a day Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp once described as "my favourite day of the year, my raison d'etre, my first, my last and my everything." Multiple brown paper bag day (allegedly) or transfer deadline day as the rest of us know it!!!
  6. Thanks S-Clarke. There must be someone still out there we can get - I see Leon McKenzie has gone to Charlton & Billy Sharp has gone to Donny - even Nugent managed to find someone who would take him!!!!
  7. But now we're not a PL club with its own website run by the club.... ... did we not join in with the rest of the football league in getting our website run centrally?? If so then they will be working on the CCC websites & Notts County first as they probably pay the most for the service. Lets hope AP is trawling through those who are without a contract and see who is worth a trial. As I posted on the HCDAJFU thread, I see Quincy Owusu-Abeyie was on trial at Bristol City - might be worth a look (not sure if he's out of contract or we would need to loan him for now)
  8. I see Bristol City had Quincy Owusu-Abeyie on trial but rejected him because of question marks about his fitness. Might be worth a look at him as he had some pace about him when he was at Arsenal (if I remember correctly) we could at least get him on trial as Bristol will have spent 10 days working on his fitness. Not sure if he's out of contract or available for a small fee. Edit: Obviously if there's a fee involved then we would need to get him on loan
  9. Krancjar will be a big loss for them, Nugent less so although I was looking forward to him & the lead boot forming a great partnership up front for them. Yes Distan was also a big loss but £3m for Williamson (if thats right) does seem over the top or have Watford seen them coming!!??
  10. You have to laugh at Storrie: “Twice we were on the brink of going into administration and let’s be honest a great deal of that was down to Alexandre because he overspent on players and wages to chase a dream and couldn’t sustain it.” and your job as Chief Executive was what exactly? I didn't hear you complaining when you were signing the cheques. “And it is no coincidence at the time he withdrew his financial backing the South African bankers Standard Bank demanded complete repayment of a £34 million loan.” and as a Chief Executive you're surprised by this!!! Still great news that Gaydemak has ended up selling to the fake sheik and not the group with money
  11. To show how stupid they are being with their money, Campbell expects to be playing for the next 3 years - yet apparently they have signed him on 5 year contract at £40k per week. If that is true then Notts County will be fully reliant on their owner providing the funds. And if thats typical of the deals they are going to do then as soon as he gets bored then they will cease to exist. Sorry but not a route I want SFC to go down.
  12. Well we'll see how happy you all are when the transfer window shuts. Will it be a) delighted with Maradona bringing in half the Argentina squad b) Mancini supplying the Italian revolution c) Paul Hart explaining why Sylvan Distan has been sold & desparately searching for a replacement I seem to remember that you were all very upset at the prospect of Distan going. Anyway, I'm sure we can lend you Olly Lancashire for a reasonable loan fee!!!!
  13. I had mentioned him on the thread about JP's interview in Voetbal International that someone kindly translated part of. I don't suspect that we will ever get to the bottom of what exactly his role at the club was.
  14. er yes Beattie. There were two sides to Beattie - pre his England call up, he did work hard & put his shift in (after all thats what got him the call up). Post the England call up - he was incrediably lazy - I can remember one game where he came out in the 2nd half and whilst waiting to kick off a burger box blew across in front of him. I think he must have been a bit peckish cos that going after that was the fastest he moved all afternoon!!!
  15. Theres a way of doing it in this league - yes, called stability & having a pre-season!! Not why you think 'we should be on -4 points' - because we're an ex-prem club perhaps? We are the team we are right now not what we were 6 years ago, we've had 4-5 years of total mis-management of the club at all levels, it will take more than 4-5 weeks to repair it. And if you think that just throwing money at it is the answer then it is one solution - but I would much prefer that Liebherr & Cortese build a solid club that can support itself if & when Liebherr walks away (unless you think Pompey fans are enjoying themselves at the moment)
  16. Good work Dr Kucho and thank your friend for the translation. Just confirms what we all knew anyway - no-one comes out of this with any credit whatsoever. JP looks like a bumbling buffoon, Wotte a slimy backstabber & Lowe is just the complete **** that he is. One question Dr Kucho (if you read this), was there any mention of the mystery Dutchman that Lowe brought - can't remember his name but the agent who wasn't employed by us but hung around all of the time?
  17. Does anyone know which magazine this was in? (I'm assuming Voetbal International) and if so, do they have access to the original article as something may have been lost in the translation. Edit: It was VI but the on-line search does not have the line as the full article is only in the magazine
  18. Maybe, wonder how the Norwich fans feel about Gunny now - he was certainly a legend before (arguable whether he was their MLT), but is still?
  19. A reminder to anyone who suggested that MLT should have been our new manager that it wouldn't have worked
  20. There's probably a very good reason for that - sorry L1 or not, Balde is an accident waiting to happen. He is quite possibly the clumsiest defender I have ever seen. He was only kept on at Celtic cos he refused to go anywhere else & sat on his £40-50k pw contract. They've been trying to get rid of him for at least 2 years.
  21. lol FWIW I agree that he could be worth taking back as cover for Thomas & another new CB (Jaidi?). That gives four solid CB's with Perry and allows Lancashire some time to develop in the reserves or even go out on loan to L2 or the Blue Square to gain some experience.
  22. or for Cardiff v Bristol Rovers!!
  23. To be honest, I would give just about any player who we've had in the last 4-5 years another go under Pardew because each an every one of them would have been mis-managed under Burley, Poortvliet, Wotte or whoever else has been in charge. I bet there are a number of players who we have let go believing them to be complete garbage when what they needed was some proper direction. Right now, if they're good enough for Pardew then that good enough for me!! (except maybe Hamill but he's gone to Barnsley anyway )
  24. Sorry, but not sure I understand you - if its a good signing & within budget, why is this wasting cash?
  25. Terrible news - to be honest I'm at a complete loss for what to say about the people who do this sort of thing. RIP - condolences to family & friends.
