You forget one thing Corpy, You have now been relegated so by the time a footballing body comes to look at points deductions, it won't be your friendly chums at the PL that will look at it - it will now been down to the FL. I think if you find a Luton fan and ask him how the FL react to clubs uncovering criminal activity, I think you'll say they don't give a monkeys and its down to the club & you can have an extra points deduction. But if you think that its a possibility that you'll get the current deduction rescinded then a) you're completely deluded and b) you're still going down anyway. Just heard on Talksport that AA is going to appeal to the FA about not putting in an application to play in Europe next season. Words fail me....
-
So for all the speculation about Lallana interesting Celtic.... Celtic 0 Ross County 2 in the Scottish Cup Semi Final - and Celtic were hopeless. If Adam needs any more reason why not to move (and I don't think he'll go anyway) then there it is.
-
A very interesting theory which may have some credence. I've been trying to figure why AA would be putting in a new CEO - does he have the authority to do so given that as the administrator he is in effect the CEO? And, as someone has already pointed out, if the club is sold then the new owners would want their own man in place.

Unbelievable.... I posted on another similar thread about a week ago, if you look at our progress since the end of October (10 games into the season, we'd just lost to Bristol Rovers) we have then taken 55 points from our league games. Only Norwich (69) and Millwall (60) have taken more with Swindon matching us on 55 points. But Pardew has also taken us to Wembley in the JPT final and to the 5th round of the FA Cup where we gave a PL side a real scare. Yes, there are games that we probably should have won - Brentford, Wycombe and Tranmere are game where we should have done better but overall Pardew has done better than most of us expected. But one question - if we were only 7 points from the playoffs after boxing day - did Pardew affect our chances by making so many signings in January and then having to bed them in? What he has done is now give us team capable of challenging for the title next year.

Some interesting comments So £5.5m over 2 years is about £52k per week in wages, unless of course you factor in Harry's (and Peter's) cut & ignore agents fees - no wonder he came to Pompey. Of course, this is the same Harry who said he didn't know how much his players were paid. Marc Wilson - £4m ROFL

lol First Celtic fan phones up but wants to talk about Newcastle. Durham asked him and he just said well of course its better. Durham asked him to convince him, and he just went I'd rather talk about the point I'd phoned about. Durham just went ok - so you can't convince me that Celtic are better than Saints!!
-
Not yet, too busy talking about Barca-Arsenal. Either that or the Celtic fans are still trying to read this mornings Sun. Joke for you all from up here - What does a Celtic fan do when his team beats Barcelona - Switches off his playstation & goes back to bed with his sister. Feel free to insert Pompey & Milan!!
-
Haha. Adrian Durham on Talksport (normally a complete kn obend)... question for a phone in.... Celtic interested in Adam Lallana - would it actually be a step up to move?
-
For once Alpine, I am in complete agreement with you. Here's the article if anyone wants to read it http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/spl/2921494/Land-Lalla.html (Sorry to the OP - hadn't realised that the link was already there!!)

Another quality comment from the BBC text today... 1605: It's so wet at Fratton Park, all 22 players have changed their kit at half-time. What a bunch of girls. Back under way everywhere.

League table based on results from 1st October: (after the Bristol Rovers defeat at St Marys) 1 Norwich 69 2 Millwall 60 3= Saints 55 3= Swindon 55 5= Colchester 47 5= Huddersfield 47 7= Charlton 45 7= Leeds 45 9 Carlisle 41 10 MK Dons 40 I've just done the top 10 as its shows the teams we're interested in. Hope that demonstrates that the slow start to the season has cost us probably more than the 10 points deduction.
-
Some of you have very short memories... ...less than a year ago, we were 3 weeks from the start of the season when Pardew walked through the door, he had Stewart Henderson in charge of the first team at that point and no disrespect to Stewart but he was out of his depth. At that time we had a squad in turmoil and under-prepared for the season ahead. Would I have taken 8th place & winning the JPT - I would have bitten your hand off. But..... I can understand the frustration - games against (in no particular order) Tranmere (a), Brentford (a), Exeter (a), Brighton (h) & Wycombe (a) have cost us points that would should have picked up.

Looks like Owusu-Abeyie is off (some Middle-Eastern deal that was - they managed to shed a loanee - well done AA) http://www.imscouting.com/global-news-article/Quincy-Owusu-Abeyie-leaves-Portsmouth-for-Qatar/6817/ But the bad news it appears they are close to be able to keep Dindane for the rest of the season http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Transfer-news-Blackburn-Rovers-boss-Sam-Allardyce-ready-to-pounce-for-Portsmouth-strike-star-article374141.html Cheats

Again probably totally unconnected, but wasn't there a story last week about some arrests in the Dordogne area of France relating to shipments of white powdery substances that was linked to British football agents money. As I said, probably nothing in it, but its a poor choice of a company name...
-
That really ought to be brought to the attention of the blue few, perhaps they may even be educated by it and understand that Bournemouth have had a transfer embargo (and been refused emergency loans when they've had to play players with injuries) over a £314k tax bill - and that embargo's been in place for 15 months. How much do Pompey owe HMRC again? One word - cheats
-
Yeah that would be pretty unlikely. There were 2 discussions going on at once, one about Owusu-Abeiye and whether Pompey breached rules by paying Spartak Moscow a £500k loan 'fee' when they weren't supposed to be spending any money and the other about Pompey's desire to plead to Spuds' better nature & allow O'Hara to play against them in the semi-final. Anyway, they're still cheats!!
-
Think we're talking cross purposes here. That certainly applies to O'Hara, but the conversation was about Owusu-Abeiye (sp) which the following applies:
-
No it only states that any loan player has to have written permission to play in the FA cup - sure they wouldn't have been stupid enough to forget that. Did check the PL website but their press releases are so far out of date it's unreal, would like to have seen what their original ruling was. Guess we'll have to see if the PL respond to COYR's email. What I did pick out is that the PL have to get their rules agreed by the FA at the start of each season so thats the link between PL & FA to make sure they play under the same rulesets.
-
Nice one COYR. Despite the ban having been put in place by the PL, it is the FA who are responsible for player registrations so I think the point still applies.
-
I thought all of the youth team transport had been repossessed!!
-
I wonder if anyone fancies taking this up with the FA. It would be interesting if the the lifting the transfer embargo allowed them to pay a fee for a loan. Either someone at the FA has ****ed up in lifting the embargo or Pompey have breached the rules (again). I, for one, would like to know which it is. I suspect the former but if it is the latter then potentially the skates should be thrown out of the FA cup. I suspect we won't find out the answer - the implications are too great whatever the answer. Edit: Sorry forgot to add CHEATS
-
I believe its an African Peac()ck Cichlid.
-
PMSL at this one Well thats not going to do much for the attendance tonight, AA's gonna sell the 'best fans in the world'.
-
The problem is - they don't see it as humiliation!! They still see themselves as being hard done by and the world & his dog are against them. Not sure what you can do to humiliate them, which why liquidation was so attractive.

http://mypompey.com/blogs/goldenboot/archive/2010/03/21/boot-portsmouth-find-legal-loophole-to-stay-in-premier-league.aspx What a load of sh*te they talk... Lacked spirit & fight? How many fans turned up for our first game after administration? How many turned up against Hull? Greatest fans in the world - my a*se!! Ignore the fact that the only way we got our golden share to play this season was to agree to not contest the points deduction, but I guess your scummy little club is about to find out how 'fair' the FL are. ah, now it makes sense. pride & passion = breaking the rules & the law Welcome to the People's Republic....
