New one for you...
-
Yes you're right - it was used in 1984 for the football. Okay - closing this one down, the first stadium is the Stadio Flaminio in Rome.
-
No its not the Rose Bowl
-
Sorry Oxfordshire, the original info I had was that the Azteca didn't hold the final - but actually it did host the 1968 Olympic Final so should have been on the list - nice one!!
-
Very good Townhill - its the Stade Olympic Yves du Manoir in Colombes, Paris - now used for a fourth division team in the French League & a local rugby team but home to the 1924 Olympics in Paris & the 1938 World Cup Final.
-
No - Stockholm only held the equestrian part of the 56 Olympics (Melbourne was the main host) which was held in the Olympic Stadium in Stockholm, the Rasunda Stadium held the 58 World Cup Final. and you're right about Seoul. If it helps the first one didn't host the athletics - but did host the Olympic football final. Edit: and yes Wembley is the missing stadium (but that would have been too easy)
-
Very good - there are only 6 grounds that have hosted both a World Cup Final and Olympic events. The first one should be fairly easy as its still in use today (although is better known now for another sport), the second one is really hard so I'll take the city. (No prizes now for the 6th venue!!)
-
Yes 3 is the Munich Olympiastadion & 4 is the Stadio Olympico. The Olympics is part of the answer - they've held the Olympics & which other major event?
-
Hmmm interesting.... I'll get my pigeon french out & try the club website! Its not very clear but the junctions appear to be set up for driving on the left which is why I thought it was a UK ground. The website I use shows their old ground (and it's not the same ground).
-
Okay, here's some famous stadia for you (some easy, some a bit harder) but they are 5 out of 6 stadia which have a common connection - bonus point if you can get the link as well (and the missing stadium)!! 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
-
Sorry Majestic, can you check that one cos the way the junctions are set up, it must be a UK ground. It certainly isn't Lille's current ground (which has a running track), haven't checked out their old ground.

Some interesting quotes in the BBC article about Dindane... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/8628604.stm He's planning further changes to the boardroom - is this part of an administrators remit? Serious questions should be asked by the courts as to what this guy is up to. His main objective should be to gain the best deal for the creditors, not save the club.
-
I think this will be the crux of the matter - they need to pay the football debts in full to satisfy the league rules but then must pay all other unsecured debts to the same level under the laws of the land. Right now, I cannot see how they will get out of it, let's just hope that HMRC are watching closely.
-
Gotta say The MC, that one appears to have beaten everyone.
-
That would be Vitesse Arnhem's Gelredrome.
-
Great to hear that the fighting spirit is there - we just need to get 4 wins and see where that gets us. There are bound to be some twists & turns left but we should just go for it. If we can finish the season on 78 points that will have been some achievement (just to note that would have been enough to make 6th place in all seasons back to 2002-03 when Tranmere finished 7th on 80 points).
-
Think you're right Townhill. Is the last one Porto's old stadium, Das Antas? The giveaway is when they did the last expansion, they dug out the athletics track & dug down so the lowest ring of seats are seperated out as they are the newest seats.
-
It was reported that its £48m over 4 years - £16m for two years then £8m for two years. Heard an interview with Ray Ranson (Cov City Chairman) yesterday who used Southampton as an example of a club struggling having come down from the PL. He therefore supported the idea. This sets a worrying precedent for the other Championship chairman who may support it in the hope of getting up for one season. Would expect most of the L1 & L2 chairmen to vote against. Expected nothing else from the PL though, the pigs at the trough just continue to feed themselves even more.
-
Be interesting to know where they got them from - as Carp should be a catch & release species in this country.
-
They are biggest load of guff I've ever seen... Apart from the dodgy maths (not a great start for an administrator I know) there's a quality What social feckin' responsibility does he have? and Now this raises an interesting question - is he being deliberately stupid or is he not fully following the process by considering all of the options? He should not be in a position where he can increase the debts to try & trade out of this - although that appears to be what he is doing with the debts rising from £78m to the now stated £100m - which in reality would appear to be £137-140m from the figures given in these minutes. They are taking cheating to a new level - the sad thing is that the PL are too busy feathering their own nest to control what is going on & the FA are now just a toothless lapdog. Let's just hope the FL still have their teeth to deal with them.
-
Nice one Oxfordshire Saint, have to say struggling with most of these but I'll take a couple of shot's - one confident, one not so sure: 1) the old Stadium of Light in Lisbon 2) This one I'm fairly sure is De Meer, Ajax's old ground
-
Good work Sid. I'll be more than happy to send a letter from north of the border.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/8558580.stm Yes, it's having a 'can-do' approach that has got them into the problems they're now in. Unbelievable, they now want UEFA to change their rules to suit them as well. Cheating barstewards.
