  1. Ok most succesful manager that used to be a goalkeeper that I can think of is Dino Zoff (sure he's already been mentioned). One that hasn't is Jock Wallace - used to be lower level goalkeeper in England & Scotland before going on to be part of the team that managed Rangers to the 1972 CWC, before he became sole manager afterwards - and went on to break Celtic's 9 titles in a row streak.
  2. So I'd better run sharpish because sooner or later even you mongs will work it all out, and you won't have your heads held high then..... PMSL :smt042
  3. Weston, sorry just for clarification (if you feel able) which part is incorrect: that Saints approached Wolves to take Surman on loan in Jan or that Surman turned it down because he wouldn't drop 2 divisions?
  4. I think officially they stay as members of the PL until something like 3rd June. That's when they become members of the FL (hopefully in their case).
  5. For those who were pushing for Sam Vokes, just being reported that he has signed a new contract with Wolves Edit: Sorry for heavens Saint, didn't see your earlier post
  6. See if we can get a quick re-work on the lyrics but New Gold Dream by Utah Saints
  7. Just seen the Storrie interview on the BBC site. As Kammy would sum it up UNBELIEVABLE They should be ****ing ashamed that he will be there tomorrow in an official capacity. No doubt he will be banned for life from football, but for him to suggest he might be there next year staggers belief - but then they always have lived on fantasy island. Will be very interested to see the Pimply fans reaction to him tomorrow.
  8. Not sure if this has been already mentioned (I know Trotman has) but Preston might be willing to let him go cheap http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/preston/8683899.stm
  9. The first qualifying session will be very interesting. The slower teams should still fall out but the 7th driver to go could be anybody - Barrichello lost out last time. The tightness of Monaco means getting a clear lap will be almost impossible. Could see the fromt runners going out early in the session with plenty of fuel & staying out until they get a banker lap.
  10. Would agree with this. I'm sure that NC is media trained - however there are significant differences between how the banking media operate & the football media - one is very aware of idle speculation and the ramifications on the industry, the other is 90% speculation and gossip. I'm sure NC would have viewed this year as a learning curve as well. I would also say that its a learning curve for the fans as well - when we get to the PL, if we start jumping on every piece of gossip as we have done this season, then I reckon at least 3 forum members will spontaneously combust!!
  11. Where's that picture of the tyre-kicker gone? £1.6m investment for 40% but they want control of the board & £400k pa for their 'management' advice - laughable. Still if that leaves them £20m in debt then it will be difficult for them to mount a push for promotion.
  12. Jeez, Solent just don't know when to stop do they... (on Twitter) more #saintsfc stuff - my story saturday stands - club owner Herr Liebherr was/is unhappy with failure to make progress and play-offs #saintsfc - personal view - maybe the chairman takes some credit , and Pards, for convincing Markus to stick not twist? On what basis are they continuing with this story. Markus in unhappy - how do they know? Did they speak to him directly in Switzerland? Oh and lets twist everything round so its still fits their little fantasy.
  13. Very interesting. So it would appear that the FL pension fund has placed a claim for £50m - hmm that might make sure that when the FL get their hands on Pompey, there may not be any mercy whatsoever!! :finga:
  14. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/may/12/portsmouth-avram-grant-west-ham If Avram has 3 years left on his contract then fair enough to demand compensation - but to offer Avram increased terms when they are in the financial postion then are in is just ridiculous. Another example of AA failing to complete his duties correctly.
  15. As someone who used to be a manager in a call centre in Scotland, this made me lol
  16. Hasn't AP already stated that he's happy to see out his contract?
  17. or the Con-Dem nation as one paper put it (happily ripping it off someone of Facebook). Have to say - I also agree with Alps.
  18. There's a few people down the east end of the M27 who said that But you're right, there will be less transparency then under a plc. I'm sure that things will work out - its the first pre-season under the new regime & its different to what we are all used to. Let's just see how things go but there is nothing wrong with people asking questions - whether any answers come is another matter.
  19. Another piece from Matt Slater on the BBC this morning... http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/mattslater/2010/05/its_a_fudge_not_a_fairytale.html An interesting insite to the creditors meeting.
  20. The creditors commitee does have representitives from a couple of local creditors - but they are being represented by insolvency experts so that would indicate they are going to fight for what they can get & not just roll over because its Pompey.
  21. As I've posted on the other Zola threads, Ian Abrahams on Talksport (who has good sources inside Upton Park) said this morning that Grant will be unveiled next week.
  22. The Moose (Ian Abrahams) on Talksport who has good contacts inside Upton Park reckons Avram Grant will be unveiled next week.
  23. Talksport just confirming Zola sacked as West Ham manager - Ian Abrahams (The Moose) reckons Avram Grant will be announced as new West Ham manager next week - and he is usually pretty accurate when it comes to all things West Ham.
