Yesterday's events have shown that F1 is not a true sport, its more like wrestling - its all fixed. Now we all know team orders have existed in every race but as usual Ferrari manage to flaunt them in the most brazen way possible. Shame on the stewards & FIA for not enforcing the rules - what is a £65k fine to Ferrari? Both cars should have been disqualified. Having said that, its not to say that the rules are correct but whilst there are there, they have to be enforced. So what can be done? Couple of options- 1) Just scrap the no team orders rule & accept that team orders will happen. If you are happy with what went on in Austria in 2002 when Schumi was allowed through by Barrichello then thats the easy answer. For me, I can't really accept that. 2) The other solution is in two parts Introduce a rule similar to the non-tryers rule in horse racing. For example say that any car that is in front of his teammates car and is more than 1 second slower on any lap must give a satisfactory explanation to the stewards. All telemetry should be made available to the stewards as well. In the event of a failure to give a satisfactory explanation, both cars will be disqualified and the drivers suspended for 2 races. All driver contracts should be lodged with the FIA to ensure that no number 1/2 driver clauses are inserted. I think that might work but open to discussion.

This. Take Man City for example - they are now talking about selling SWP, Nigel de Jong & Steven Ireland. They will move to other PL squads - meaning other players there move down the pecking order, which frees a squad players or two to be sold to NPC clubs, which in turn frees players in their squads which is where we come in. (possibly).

Here's what I want the FL to do... They should take a look at the skate squad as it stood at the end of last season - and then review how many players they need now to make up the 20. If they need say 3 players - then yhey should take the wages of the 3 lowest plaid players released during the summer and that beocmes the ceiling for the FL signing off that signing. So for example, if the wages of the 3 lowest paid players were £500pw, £500pw & £700pw then that is the max they can spend. Oh - and no image rights either!!

So you've already been stalking him then....

They hope to find out in the next 24 hours when the appeal hearing will be according to the BBC website... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/8839169.stm Edit: Well done Mr Grant - you beat me to it

Lee Hendrie looks like he's on his way to Aberdeen according to Sky Sports http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12874_6270245,00.html (so no loss there then) -
Hmm not sure on de Ridder. He has never made the breakthrough at any club he's played at so stepping down a level or two might just help him. As a loan signing, he can do a job so fair enough but have to have some concerns about a player who has never played more than 30 games for any club he's been at.

Correct - Warren Feeney has just signed for Oldham, David Healy is still with Sunderland at the moment. -
Another one that is well worth a read is Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts
-
I can endorse this one as well - very good read

I'd be worried if I were you DBP, all this talk of you ***gging a Pompey bird & you putting your 'exploits' on here.... ... maybe the 'in-laws' have come to visit

According to the BBC rumour page - The Mirror has a rumour that Harewood is going to join David O'Leary at Al Ahli. Given the history of what they pay, I would suggest that everyone else is now priced out of picking him up - unless Manc City want him! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/gossip_and_transfers/8832665.stm (last one in transfer gossip section - link didn't work for me) -
Think the starting XI is fine, but there are a couple of area's on work on. Papa Waigo & Antonio did provide something different from the bench last season so they need to be replaced - from what I've seen so far Alex O-C will be one who can provide something different & I expect him to be used more frequently this season, certainly pardew seems to be impressed with the lad, so maybe one other potential loan signing in this area. The other area is cover for Morgan & Hammond, we are a different side & certainly not as effective without Morgan, but I cannot see us getting a straight back-up of sufficient quality for him. That said Wotten is not good enough as back up so needs a signing/loanee in this area. So we need a couple in at some point but we're not desperate. It can even be after the seasons starts for me - getting the right players (signings or loans) is more important than getting any old player in quickly.
-
Any number of reasons: - ensure that we get cover in (Butterfield) without looking too needy to cover that position ie negotiating stance with the player - knock on effect if we had to go elsewhere, we may have had to pay an increased fee - they didn't have an exact diagnosis on the severity of the injury - they didn't want half of the SWF fanbase to keel over with stress and miss the start of the season due to not having a RB in place - at least this way we already have Butterfield in place spring to mind immediately

No but quite a decent line-up this year... http://www.rockenseine.com/en/lineup/ If I wasn't starting a new job, would def be tempted to go - but no chance of getting the Friday off

Fairly unlikely to happen at the moment I would have thought as he has been included in the England u-19 squad to play in the Euro Championships in France. England's first game is tomorrow v Austria (coverage on Eurosport). That said, would def be worth looking at. -
Well I can't see us allowing him to play just to allow him to keep fit for someone else, it would be an opportunity missed to get another goalkeeper some fitness & match practice. A positive sign but I'll be happier when the OS states he's signed a new contract.

See my original post above - I've updated it with a brief synopsis For me - the strangest thing was his use of the phrase that a 'combination of the Gaydemaks' were the largest creditors - just a shame Danny Kelly wasn't as up to speed with what has happened to ask what he meant by that - Gaydemak snr & jnr or Gaydemak & Chainrai? You would have to say the former.
-
Handy Andy was on Talksport... Brief synopsis of what he said... He's in Cyprus - funny thought AEK were in Greece HMRC not happy with football creditors rule. Ongoing saga is putting off buyers Said can keep the club in admin for a number of seasons without penalty!! (er don't think so) Danny Kelly questioned re Sonko - we've been releasing expensive players gives opportunity to bring in up to 6 new players Season ticket sales extremely good (fans are the main asset) Will be in court on Monday, wants appeal held before the end of July Confirmed "combination of the Gaydemak's" is the largest creditor (interesting choice of phrase) HMRC should go with the majority decision FL & PL now putting regulations in place around budgets to avoid over-spending Confirmed sponsors paid for USA tour (except insurance) Finished with "we'll have closure in the next 2 weeks I'm sure"
-
Little disappointed with the signings so far - which fan wouldn't want more players! That said, we have a couple of players who look like they can step up and Lee Holmes will return from injury (fingers crossed). There is still plenty of time to fill a few gaps and I would much rather have quality signings over a quantity of signings.
-
Talking about Pompey now on Danny Kelly's show on Talksport Edit: Tony Evans (Times, I think) 'HMRC want to get their hands on the books' Danny Kelly 'Well god help them if they do, who know's what they'll find in there' lol General consensus was that HMRC want to make an example of someone - they thought it might have been Cardiff or Southend, but there's only Pompey left to go after
-
Absolutely, I did look at the list of opening pre-season games & think 1 or 2 had games against PL 'names' but then that could just have been their youth team, as Winchester played our Saints XI. No-one would have played a team as prepared as Thun.
-
Meanwhile according to Betfair, amongst news about a possible loan signing is the news that West Ham can't agree wages with Tal Ben Haim. That would be the skates paying his £30k pw plus for a little longer then.. http://www.betfairfootball.com/league-one/southampton/southampton-pursue-city-youngster-on-loan/

Just to correct you slightly, Thun played CL football about 4 or 5 years ago - last season they were promoted from the Swiss 2nd division. That said, they appear to have a good pre-season (I think won all of their 6 games including against us) and start their league season this weekend.
