  1. Had Bart still be injured then would have taken him straightaway, but Bart's back - question is, will we need 3 keepers between now & the end of the season? Probably not. Perhaps we should let him come and train with us whilst he looks for another club, and then if one of Davies or Bart gets injured, we'll be in prime position to pick him up short term.
  2. Nice one Dune!
  3. I suspect they know exactly what they're getting. I also suspect that if they take over then there will be some changes behind the scenes, a large expansion of the kit room facilities will be followed by the people who wash the shirts being quietly replaced some rather large Russian gentlemen who will be seen entering and leaving with copious quantities of brown envelopes stuffed full of you know what!! Allegedly, of course!
  4. The problem here is that they cannot milk anyone over Portsmouth rotting carcase - the Russian central bank were only interested in trying to bale out an ailing Russian bank, not an ailing second teir team in a foreign country and Chinny will have long taken any parachute payments. Plus the guy wants to emulate Abramovich, that sounds more like trying put some of his funds into the club. Of course he may just be trying to use it to launder some of his alleged ill-gotten roubles - who would have thought of using Portsmouth for that?!
  5. I did read that report last week about clubs charging hundreds of £s for kids who wanted to be match day mascots - typical skates taking it to a new low!
  6. This is one of the worst examples of a closed shop I have ever seen - Ireland I believe are ranked higher than Zimbabwe and have been for the last 4 years!
  7. Has left Notts County today. No surprise IMO, as they were heading straight for the relegation zone. edit: Talksport reporting as sacked, BBC saying mutual consent http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/12951734.stm
  8. Well done to India for a deserved victory, playing with that weight of expectation would not have been easy. A slight anti-climax with Sachin only getting 18 and Murali not taking a wicket but there you go. Let's hope England are better organised next time round, I see Strauss is the fall guy as captain this time round, nothing to do with the team selection or selectors for starting the tournament playing only one front line spinner when most teams were playing 3. Who would have thought that spin would have been effective on crumbly pitches in the Indian sub-continent!
  9. I think it's more likely that Deppo might have been playing with his snake rather than playing snake on his phone!
  10. I don't care either way as long as we get promoted this season. If Cortese prefers Adkins over Pardew & that gives us more chance of the manager being allowed to sign the right players the Adkins being here can only be positive. Not yet seen Adkins team play, but from what I have seen on the TV would a fair comment be that Pardew potentially sets his side up better from the off but Adkins is the more flexible and likely/able to change if its not working? ie Pardew wouldn't have got us back from 2 down yesterday but may not have been 2 down in the first place? Anyway it's all irrelevent as Nigel's our man & Pardew is history.
  11. This one for me, especially as I was right behind the Archers Road goal that night! Preston away wasn't bad either with DMG getting a last minute winner after we'd been 2 down at half time.
  12. The page you requested is currently unavailable Have they suddenly realised how stupid they've been looking?
  13. Well it's Celtic v Rangers again today, this time in the CIS cup final. And even more remarkably, there are 2 teams trying to play football. 1-1 at half time and quite a good game, appears Rangers injuries in defence (only 4 defenders left so none on the bench) mean they've had to be more attacking. Wish the BBC would stop showing us that smug **** Lennon sitting in the stand. And the ref's doing ok, controversy in the first half when he gave a penalty to Rangers but then changed his mind - got the call right in the end.
  14. tbf he hadn't played for a while when he joined West Ham, think he was injured at City, he's now showing what he can really do now he's getting regular games. (edit: but yes he was bloody awful in that game!)
  15. I love the way the increase in prices is described by the different parties I wonder which set of spin will be swallowed by the few....
  16. It all started so well, but by the time the second sentance was written, we all knew it was complete rubbish Never mind
  17. So WTF would you like a newspaper article in a column which is about Saints to talk about on the weekend when we are playing Bompey but we can't talk about them?! The price of replica shirts in Tripoli maybe? Of course he's got to mention them, still doesn't mean we see them as our massive rivals. Say nothing at all, would you buy a paper with nothing in it? Thought not.
  18. Think that 2nd is now down to us, Huddersfield & Peterborough - it is in our hands. The play-offs will be the two that miss out plus MkDons and then either Bompey or Leyton Orient - and nearly always someone sneaks in late to the party.
  19. China, Australia, USA and Germany have all pledged assistance and are sending teams to help, even New Zealand are sending rescue teams. Don't know about other European countries but don't get caught in the trap of because its not reported in the UK then it hasn't happened. That's the major problem with US news and seems to be increasingly apparant with our media in the UK.
  20. But the problem is that they will get £30m min for finishing as the biggest laughing stock in the Prem and then be guaranteed £48m in parachute payments - so that's £75m over 5 years. So even if they've spent £16m in advance of the current parachute payments, that's still another £59m to be trousered by Chinny over the next few years. That's the key - even if they do get back to the Prem watch Chinny change his tune about being a reluctant owner!!
  21. Picked up from Tim Vickery's excellent blog on the BBC sports website, Jhon Viafara got a mention in passing that he's scored 2 goals in 2 games in the Copa Libertadores this season for his team, Athletico Junior. Good to see him doing so well and back home in Colombia after a spell in Peru. It's put them in a great position to qualify with 2 wins from 2 games, with potentially the weakest team in the group still to be played. For those who've not seen Tim's blogs, they are the best thing on the BBC website and are usually published on a Monday, very informative look at South American football. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/timvickery/2011/02/giovanni_hernandez_-_from_medi.html
  22. Scouting for players for next season? or maybe just eyeing up the replacement pitch for Farton Park!
  23. Not necessarily, don't be surprised if another renegotiation of the CVA occurs again! Paying the CVA really is the last thing on their minds.
  24. Very sad news, an extremely talented defender whose career was cut short by injury & illness, tragic to pass away at 36 RIP
  25. Failed a medical at Sporting Braga, if I recall it correctly they'd lost Ricardo so Bart would have been playing CL and Europa League football!
