Wasn't the rumour that we had a loan with an option to buy at the end of the season?
-
Not seen enough of Saints live this year to be able to comment on each player individually but re the Aaron Martin debate - is he not in the same position Seabourne was in last year? A young CB who some thought wasn't good enough but has shown potential - and Seabourne would definately appear to have come on leaps & bounds during the last 12 months. Remembering where Martin has come from, not that long ago he was playing non-league, he probably is worth a new contract & I can see him going on loan for a spell with a L1 or L2 club to gain some experience (a spell at somewhere like Exeter would do him the world of good). With some regular football, at least we'd able to see if he has that potential to step up on a regular basis or he's just going to be the next Olly Lancashire.

I see Paul Hart has left Swindon Town today.. what does that have to do with Pompey, you ask? Well in reading the article in alluded to Swindon being demoted 2 divisions from the Premier League for illegal payments to players including the avoidance of tax on those payments. Does anyone know what happened then? and should this have any relevance to the ongoing problems down the road & any potential court cases coming up? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/swindon_town/9469955.stm

Brighton Doing Us A Favour On Saturday Beating Huddersfield...!?!
Gorgiesaint replied to dannysfc's topic in The Saints
You're right, with my record of breaking unbeaten runs by backing sides, I'm off down the bookies now to get some pennies on Udders! -
I don't think we should underestimate the fact that KD now has a solid & settled defence in front of him, which is bound to give him more confidence.
-
77/78 was the season I started supporting Saints, Brighton was my first ever away game & then the Orient game my second. Was about 20 yards away from the wall that collapsed. Being 8 at the time, there was never any stress about the run in, what a difference these days!!!
-
Yep, the County Ground at Northampton for me as well, been there a few times. It's one of the long sides that faces the cricket pitch that doesn't have any stands, and in fact I'm sure just had a rope with some people standing behind it!
-
Believe they have sold over 16k season tickets already for next season
-
Not looking too good now.....
-
and I have to say the optimistic spin given by Keith Harris sounds like a desperate estate agent... and Keith Harris isn't the only one is he now....
-
Guess the number of pennies paid as part of the CVA? Actually on second thoughts, that's still nearly twenty quid - give them another year and they may get near paying that amount.

I don't know him personally but only from how he portrays himself in the media. But agree, the sending of letter bombs is crazy but neither side of the old firm have taken much action to reduce sectarianism as I can vouch for from recent visits to Parkhead & Ibrox.
-
Welcome to the sick world of sectarianism in Scottish football. It is totally wrong but I might have a little more sympathy if the clubs involved were actually interested in sorting the problem out, but they seem to be doing precious little to try and eradicate it. and if I can correct AndyNorthernSaints, if Lennon resigns over this it will be a very sad day for Scotland and Scottish football. If Lennon resigns for any other reason it will be a very great day for Scotland and Scottish football as the guy is a complete kn0b.

The answer of what should happen is in the last paragraph of that article.... Question, question, question them. Use that well known Pompey scepticism to look for the truth. Time to learn from history - judge PFC’s owners by their actions, not their words. Shame they've not used that well known Pompey scepticism over the last few years. But will they have learnt their lesson and judge Pompey's potential new owners by their previous actions? Thought not....

Read this piece on the BBC website this morning about the programme tonight http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13109493 So they'll make a programme about Notts C whilst there is an investigation going on, but why not about Pompey? What (or is that who) is keeping everyone away from talking in the media about what has gone on?
-
Any link to that?

Just listening to talksport and Adrian Durham described Saints as having 5 under-achievers in the L1 team of the year. 'Players think they're a big club so better vote for them'. What a kn0b-end. Really hope Peterbourgh lose in the play-offs now! Priceless - 'BWP is far to good a player for L1' We were lucky to get 5 players in the team, how Brighton only have 3 is slightly strange but there you go. But according to Durham we should have been promoted by january!! Tube, how the hell does he get a job on radio?
-
It's a conspiracy against Saints I tell you, everyone hates us & that's why we've got no-one in the..... oh! Slightly surprised that Glenn Murray didn't get in - thought he would have replaced BWP
-
love it! 'sources close' to the seller & the man brokering the deal are talking it up. hmmm. Let me remain slightly sceptical about this one until they've actually signed & have the FA/FL approval.
-
Priceless! And for everything else there's Mastercard - except your Pompey season ticket cos the useless f***wits are not allowed!!!
-
Congratulations to Brighton who have been the best team in the division this season (much as it pains me to say it) and to Gus Poyet who has done a great job there. Let's see how they get on in their new stadium next season - many teams struggle and with a step up in division as well. They need to keep Poyet but would be interesting if he replaced Chops at Spuds, or would Chelsea even consider him as a replacement for Ancelotti?

Well here's Dubov's website - no mention of Pompey in there although does mention Championship football http://www.dubov.co.uk/questions/ Why football and why now? I believe that I have enough experience and resources to pursue this opportunity. I have been a huge football fan since I was a kid and always wanted to be be a part of football history and now I have this chance. But Convers Sports Initiatives isnʼt just about about football, it’s about sports and sharing this excitement with fans. Have you ever seen Championship clubs play? Many times – the first time I saw them play live was in 2000. I admire the teams and their loyal fans a lot. I have watched the FA Cup final at Wembley and saw so many happy fans, it was indescribable. Is it true that you attempted to acquire Bournemouth FC and Glasgow Rangers? And why did these deals fall apart? Bournemouth was just speculation by unprofessional agents. We have never made any official offer and did not declare serious interest. Our plans were always bigger than league two. We never met with Eddie Mitchel, the owner. Bournemouth was interesting as a city and for business development. The desires of the agents and the reality are very different things. Rangers is an absolutely different story. Yes, it is true that we were involved in the club acquisition attempt, but as a bank that financed this deal and NOT as people who made the offer. We were eager to learn how football works from the inside and to understand the level of business associated therein. We have met with parties interested in the club and remain good friends with Donald Murray. We respect him as a person who is loyal and who did a lot for the fans and for football. It was not the first time we have been involved in such deals as a financier. However, as far as we concerned, there are some issues with HMRT. We don’t know the full story, but this made the deal impossible in the near future. We’ve heard that the Russian authorities are looking for someone with the same surname (Dubov), is this you? No, you are confusing me with somebody else. What challenges might you face? Confusion – people confuse me for someone else with a dodgy past. But it’s not just me – as I mentioned earlier there was a journalist who wrote about Vladimir, this has caused us a lot of problems, but we are overcoming this, thought there is still a lot of work to be done in this direction. Are there any further plans for Convers Sports Initiatives? Let me put it this way. We are just starting and there will be more… much more. Edit: and here's their 'banking' arm's website https://www.conversmoney.com/ hmm seem reputable enough - anyone daft enough to borrow at a typical apr of 2562%!! Still, should make it easier to sort a payment plan for the following year's season tickets!!
-
I notice he lists chess as one of his interests.... wonder if he's been to any tournaments where he may have met up with any former owners of Pompey... wasn't there one in Russia not so long ago?
-
More like it's put a hole in it just below the waterline They need Leeds to lose 3 and draw 1 of their remaining 6 games, not to mention results for 7 other sides in between going the few's way.
