    Beattie

Take off the Saints tinted glasses for a moment & forget he ever played for us... now would you take a player who is 33/34 but not really played in the last 2 years because he's out of favour and injured at a number of clubs and who hasn't really done anything scoring wise in the last 3-4 years. Plus the fact he's so motivated to get back that he's in a nightclub at the start of the season.... ....move on, there's far better out there. Yes he was great when he was here. I just do not get why people keep harping back to should we sign Beattie other than they've had a few drinks on a Saturday night and haven't pulled. Especially when we're on a record number of wins at sat top of the table at the moment.
  2. In leiu of today's signing... Dubov: Look Limpitt, I know you said if I gave you enough money that you'd sign Carlos Tevez from Man City but I didn't think you'd sign the 'black' Carlos Tevez Lampitt: Sorry Roman, can I offer you a half time banana?
  3. But they've nicked him off the footballing powerhouse that is Stockport County... well powerhouse in the Conference maybe!!!
  4. Lampitt: Roman, see if you can steal the handbag from that woman sat next to you. It might have enough cash in there to pay for another signing Dubov: Lampitt, you complete idiot, of course there's money in there, she's my wife. Where do you think the 400m Euro's from the EU went? Saab?
  5. Having mis-typed 'Russian brides' into google, Lampitt looks suitably pleased ending up with a Russian bribe instead.
  6. Shame we'll have to wait 24 hours for an answer to that one... although I feel it might be a bit longer than that before whores back on here! You would have expected a first round game at home against a L2 team which barely survived last season would have been an ideal opportunity to give some experience to their highly rated youngsters but what do we know, although Williams did get 17 mins... still at least the first team did so well without the youngsters.
  7. Thanks John, good response and I know where you are coming from. For what its worth, I think he has moved to early and sitting in the stands watching Arsenal play won't help him develop at all - you're right about not learning from what Walcott has done. That said, he may get blooded, do well and become a fixture (but I doubt it). At the end of the day, only he (and his father) will know his true motivation for the move - if it's for the money or for the chance to play at the highest level we'll probably never know. Time will tell if he's made the right decision.
  8. Its game I would have gone to a few years back, sadly finances are such that I cannot afford to go. Will do well to get down to SMS for one game this season
  9. Presume you mean this quote from Nigel "We have also got Dan Harding who plays in his position and Jack Cork, so we have great competition for places." Um Ryan Dickson?
  10. So, if you worked for a small company in your industry and although you were top performer, you were modestly rewarded for what you do and then you are given the opportunity to join one of the leading companies in the same industry - given that you'll have the chance to prove your worth amongst a lot of talent, have the chance to be recognised by your peers and that you'll be rewarded by earning probably 3 or 4 times the salary that you're currently on - you're saying you wouldn't take that opportunity? Take the blinkers off for a moment and I can see why he went. Will it be the right move, well time will tell. Maybe he should have stayed to continue to develop with Saints for another season, but what regrets would he have if he stayed and picked up an injury in his next game. What is the price of loyalty - try asking Billy Sharp of S****horpe and see if he thinks he made the right decision. Btw, I don't know what his answer would be. So to all those suddenly hating Oxo just because he's bettered himself, well it just sounds like your jealous.
  11. Oh dear. Only 3 subs on the bench tonight (including Ashdown), losing 1-0 at home to Barnet and only 4,464 there to see it (I know our attendance wasn't great at 6,541 but still nearly 50% more) What a shame... oh and 3 more bookings
  12. There is no danger of a) Adkins letting Puncheon anywhere near the squad & b) Puncheon wanting to be anywhere near the squad anyway, so move on, he's yesterdays news. The sooner we can farm him off to QPR the better - for all concerned. Don't agree that we need another winger, a quality CB and striker maybe, otherwise I think we're well set for the season. It's now about getting a couple of additions to the squad to add to what we've got, not making wholesale changes and upsetting the spirit and balance that's already there. Saturday showed the difference between what a cohesive team that know each others games can do against a team with a few new players who are yet to gel.
  13. Good luck to Oxo, you can't blame him for wanting to get that big contract now as you never know what is round the corner. Overall, I think if its £12m up front + £3m later then that's a pretty fair price for an 18 year old with less than a season's experience in L1 - compare that to Connor Wickham and I think Cortese's done a good job. You really can't keep hold of a player when they want to go so get the best for them. Like others, another CB would be good - Gorrks in a swap for Puncheon and then maybe a another striker. Other than that, hold on for Jan if we need anything then.
  14. To be fair, I've seen Jordan doing interviews for MOTD before instead of Harry.
  15. Did wonder that myself, couldn't see anything in any of the reports in this mornings papers to say whether he was there or not. I'm sure if he wasn't, it would be mentioned somewhere.
  16. He came off in the West Brom game with an injury & he's missed the next game. So far the only rumours have eminated from the Mirror where Darren Lewis has been spouting on since January that Oxo would move. Adkins said a month or so ago that we hadn't (at that time) had an offer from Arsenal so has anything changed? Could it be that Adkins is looking after a 19 year old and blooding him gradually rather than over playing him? Not saying you're wrong - just wondering what you've based your observation on.
  17. Fairly short interview: Good work ethic at the club, everyone is ambitious, take each game as it comes, don't get too up if we win, too down if we lose Asked about Oxo - didn't want to talk about it, will be in training today (with rest of the squad), asked if he could confirm that he won't be an Arsenal player by the end of the week, says wants to talk about yesterday.
  18. MW 693 or 909
  19. Good, let's hope that those that are moaning about what songs we sing continue to moan all season about them - that will mean that they've got nothing else to moan about & Saints will be doing very nicely thanks!
  20. Missed the highlights last night but is this the same Gus Poyet who was (apparently from the radio updates I heard) sent off for getting in the 4th officials face whinging about Donny being nasty to his team, whilst they only won by kicking 2 of Donny's players (including Billy Sharp who was ripping them a new one) off the park and onto stretchers?
  21. lol out on 5Live.... Boro fan (at the game) 18k there, only a handful from Pompey Next up - Pompey fan from Stockport (not at the game) - we deserved to win today, new owner with ambition, they're keeping it quiet but got big plans, we're a sleeping giant blah blah blah Didn't hear the rest as I was laughing too much!!
  22. Any win against the cheats from down the road, but that first game against them in the League Cup, night game and Beattie grabbing a brace fantastic although followed pretty closely by Crouch's penalty winner & super-Marians goal as well. Overall the best game has to be that cup game against Spurs, they were lucky to only go down 4-0 that night.
  23. Clotterill on 5 live now - as it stands, we'll only have 3 on the bench on Saturday including a goalkeeper... ... but remember its quality over quantity
  24. Be interesting to see what comes out over the next few days.... why let him go on a free when they could quite easily have sold him a for a few mil?
  25. They've been taken over - that is correct. They have £8-10m to spend - well not so sure about that, the new owner has done a lot of talking but is yet to put his hand in his pocket (and I'm not counting re-signing David Weir at 41 for another season as putting his hand in his pocket). Rangers are very weak this season compared to Celtic and I suspect that it won't be long before they turn on the new owner. I venture that they'll start that on the final whistle of the first Old Firm game of the season when they get humped by Celtic. I may yet be proved wrong, but I don't think they've got the proverbial pot to pee in, hence being outbid for Kenny Miller.
