  1. Ok Sid, you're a cynic... but you're probably right as well. Still they'll forget all about that when they start losing again after the international break & Clotterill complains that his players are tired because of their small squad.. and they deserve bonus points because they didn't have an international break as they were playing charity games!
  2. Update from the BBC website... severe concussion http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15176078.stm
  3. Heard the rumours about what the injury is. Hope the lad makes a full recovery.
  4. This is the quote that sticks out for me and ok, I haven't seen the original interview so I may be taking this out of context, but that sounds like they view the long term as 5 years. If nothing else that should worry you Corp. Now I don't know what the Liebherr family plans are after the 5 years were up but I bet Markus wasn't just planning on selling out. With the family in charge, that may change, but I feel a whole lot more comfortable with them as our owners compared to your Russian Mafia boys. So they don't want to sell the club, is that because they have something else planned? Five years should be just enough to milk the carcase of the remaining parachute money, have an outside chance of getting promoted again whilst the CVA continues to be on the back burner and allow the property market to recover.
  5. Don't know what I'm laughing at most - 12,102 or Huseklepp scoring the own goal in the 96th minute. Massive....
  6. Very interesting.... although this is the sentence that stood out for me Any managers we know that might be affiliated to offshore accounts and agents based in Monaco? Maybe one day, it might even get to court....
  7. Well it's hardly a glowing vote of confidence is it? The prime minister is against anyone trying to fully investigate him, you'd hardly expect a head of state to endorse a criminal would you? And is that Saab & Antonov mentioned in the same breath? Thought they had nothing to do with each other... That's the one, you know the one that was refused a UK banking licence over money laundering concerns. http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/law/article5676839.ece Of course, Antonov only tried to buy them (as you kindly mentioned earlier) and when the FBI chatted to the Swedish government of course they weren't allowed to buy them. But wasn't there someone who appears on the CSI website who has links with Spyker? Hmmm...
  8. BTF makes a very valid point about the number of withdrawls from this years US open, and to top that Djokovic had to forfit his rubber in the Davis Cup semi-final which meant Serbia got knocked out having got a back injury - because he played Monday night in the US open final and then had to travel back to Serbia for the Friday start in the David Cup. One thing that may happen is that only a certain number of other events count each year towards the ranking (plus then Master & Grand Slams) so players aren't playing so many events, I think that Murray and the others feel that to maintain their world ranking (and get the best seeding for slams) that they have to keep playing as much as possible.
  9. According to the first post on Fartton Faithful, that's a crowd of 600.... .... bless, the locals just aren't good at numbers!!
  10. As its says, looks like he's been sacked, but maybe just asked to leave to avoid any further payout... http://www.pafc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10364~2454878,00.html Seems they might have a better chance of improving performances by getting the takeover done and ensuring the players are sold. Let's hope Clotterill doesn't fancy a fresh challenge...
  11. Surprised no-one has mentioned Vladimir Romanov of Hearts - a complete lunatic. I was hoping that the two muppets that took over down the road would be of a similar vein... and there's still time!
  12. Thank god at least one person has put Graham Norton, have to turn the tv off as soon as I hear his annoying whine
  13. Went to last years game which was a good laugh despite having 2 awful teams (Bronco's @ 49er's). Won't make it this year as the finances are a bit tight so can't justify flying down for the weekend.
  14. Surely the last 3 tracks - how can you miss out Twenty Four Hours? The lyrics are scary given the illness that Ian Curtis was suffering at the time & the fact he subsequently committed suicide. Very dark stuff, but still my favourite Joy Division song.
  15. map reading is wrong - is what I meant to say!!
  16. I know that Sevilla have called a meeting of the other La Liga clubs (without Real & Barcelona) to discuss a concerted response in trying to level the playing field somewhat. A European League would be a disaster for football, relatively speaking no-one would be left interested in the domestic leagues that would be left (ironically England might be the one place that would buck that trend) so Spain, Scotland & Holland would find their leagues in serious trouble. But how are fans of the big teams going to cope when their all dominant teams suddenly struggle? What happens when a Euro Super-Duper League loses it appeal as there's no local rivalry? It's a very dangerous road to go down with no space for a u-turn if the map reading is going right.
  17. Think of it like this, if the council want to build an abbatoir in my town then I have both a moral viewpoint and a personal viewpoint. My moral viewpoint may be that it's required as I'm a meat eater wherever it's built, but my personal viewpoint would be that I'm happy if its on the other side of town, less happy if it's next door because I don't want to deal with the smell. Morally it wouldn't matter which club was involved, but right now from a personal perspective, the Pompey abbatoir stinks Probably most of what is written is rubbish, but even if 1% is true then I would be worried. That is still a lot of dirt to be getting rid of. Yes we know, when is the forensic investigation being published, you know, the one where the forensic accountants called in the fraud experts? And talking of defrauding people, I wonder how that court case is going for your ex-owner, ex-chairman & ex-manager? We have, just read most of this page and much of the last for starters. So if it's not big money for CSI, why haven't they paid it off?
  18. Oops mistype, meant apologies for getting that wrong not no apologies.
  19. To be honest, who knows now. The waters have been muddied so much (which can be no bad thing for the skates) it's hard to keep up with who owns who - bit like Pompey really! This article sheds some light... right Spyker owns Saab, but not Spyker Cars which CPP (Antonov etc) own http://uk.autoblog.com/2011/02/24/spyker-sells-spyker-but-keeps-saab/ So no apologies for getting that wrong!!
  20. All is not well amongst the business empire http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-14817674 Mind you the similarities between Saab and Pompey are there for all to see And with regards to funding for this season, will this have any effect on the budget?
  21. Interesting read about Sepp Blatter and what may lie in store for him over the next year or so. Let's hope the lawyers don't delay its release too long. http://www.transparencyinsport.org/Sepp_Blatter_speaks_with_forked_tongue/sepp_blatter_speaks_with_forked_tongue(page1).html
  22. Would have to agree with that assessment, seems strange that he's gone from mainstay of their promotion winning defence to not even getting on the bench for the Carling Cup 2nd round. Be more than happy if he joined us.
  23. Just reading the match reports in the on-line Sunday papers, and the People makes the point that Adkins has now got to 100 points quicker than other Saints manager. http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/match-reports/championship-match-reports/2011/08/21/southampton-1-0-millwall-it-s-just-like-watching-brazil-as-do-prado-scores-stunner-102039-23359683/
  24. They don't want to rate him too highly otherwise he will go out of Arsene's budget when he signs in January next year...
  25. Oh dear, well if the Saints fans managed a word with 2 syllables, it appears he couldn't manage to spell a word correctly with only two letters in it!! And did anyone bother to say that Scummer only has two syllables as well....
