  1. Found this whilst at work yesterday (so couldn't post it at the time). It's a solicitors blog on the legal challenge to the football creditors rule and the interesting bit that I've quoted below relates to what evidence was given to a Culture, Media & Sport Committee looking at the issue... http://www.out-law.com/en/articles/2011/november/courts-to-decide-on-legality-of-football-creditors-rule-this-week/ Note the use of the word 'received' - past tense. So who told the MP's that Pompey had paid 16p in the pound to other creditors when in reality they've received nothing so far? Has someone been telling porkies to a select committee? If so, I believe that is also against the law.
  2. Wonder if Appleton has phoned West Brom back up to see if he can get his old job back? He must be feeling really sick right now....
  3. That's what I love about this time of year, that you can wheel out the same old jokes once again... and then Christmas is just round the corner so those jokes can be wheeled out as well!!
  4. I think the phrase is 'if you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem'
  5. holepuncture, try Socawarrior and just claim you're from Trinidad & Tobago!!
  6. Even better today so far... Money lent today £9350 Customers 32 Just struck me that if we're talking money laundering, wouldn't this be a pretty good vehicle to be using? Another question that struck me as they seem to have plenty of business, when is pay day?
  7. 1727 away fans at Watford today according to the BBC website, pretty good turnout for them if that's true.
  8. Interesting line in the Guardian this morning http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/nov/18/portsmouth-reassure-fans-administration-concerns
  9. You were available - and lets face it, there aren't many other Championship teams available for £7m are there? In fact, come to think it, have they even paid £7m yet - as Portpin still have their name all over the title at Land Registry. Free football teams - don't get many of them, but good old Pompey are like a good whore, available for whoever wants to go with them!
  10. It does beg the question of how many good coaches have gone on to be a good manager? We know from our experience of Gray & Wigley, both were very good coaches, have really failed as a manager. McClaren has been a bit more succesful but is hardly a glowing tribute. If, and it's a massive if, they were to bring in Appleton with Coppell as a DOF to give him some support, that would be interesting combination. However, can't see that happening and Appleton on his own would probably be doomed to failure - Pompey with no money is tough first gig.
  11. Talksport just said that according to their commentator Sam Matterface, he understands that Steve Coppell is to be appointed as the new Pompey manager.
  12. I see poor Harry Redknapp can't travel due Russia for Spuds Europa League game on Tuesday due to 'medical reasons' that are unspecified. Oh, and how is that court case going? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15549314.stm
  13. Agreed, although not sure what that says about O'Driscoll's stock that he has dropped from being very highly rated a few years ago to potential Pompey manager, he stayed far to long at Doncaster.
  14. Oh and this was a lol moment...
  15. Actually, when you get through the bluff, the underlying message is probably right - despite their being a few vital errors within the article. If you turned the tables, and we were still at a crumbling Dell which had no investment since the 80's, wouldn't we be calling for a new stadium? It will take a massive investment, but at least they are calling for that investment to be used off the field, rather than on it. They have fallen a long way, and it's nice to see them acknowledge it and also that we get better attendances now. That said - couple of serious questions - £35m for a new stadium? What would that get you nowadays, £15k capacity? Our out of the box stadium cost upwards of £30m ten years ago. - Yes borrowing the money might be a problem from a UK bank, but their owners also own our friend Bankas Snoras, who as we know were refused a UK banking license. So could they borrow from Bankas Snoras or would the FSA stop the deal as the bank are effectively unlicensed? - 3 administrations, I agree - what ever happened to that penalty for more than one administration?
  16. Not going much better for the Glazers in the NFL either...
  17. One of the great up and coming talents in motoGP, this will be a great loss to the sport as he was one of the most charismatic characters on & off the track. RIP Marco.
  18. Have to disagree with you Phil, Solskjaer would be a very good choice. He is very highly rated within the game, did his coaching badges whilst coaching Man U's youth teams and really only left because it was his hometown club Molde who needed a manager. He appears to be doing a great job with them as they're clear at the top of Norway's top division and should win the championship. I'm pretty sure that Man U will have earmarked him as one for the future as to possibly some back and manage them one day.
  19. I suppose if anyone wants a direct comparison - the DFCSB's played Ipswich away last night, a Tuesday night fixture same as us earlier in the season. Anyone know how many they took and how many we took. Obviously on the field there appears to be little comparison...
  20. And that is looking increasingly probable. He's from Holland, not Portsmouth. HTH,
  21. Brilliant result. West Ham fan on Talksport on Saints - easily the best team we've played this season, the way they move the ball around. Goldstein then made the point that from last season it was Prem against L1 and he went - well they (Saints) looked like the Premier league team and we (West Ham) were L1.
  22. Just found out this morning, a tragic loss of a very talented driver. RIP Dan.
  23. Sam Matterface on Talksport - Doesn't think CSI will go for Avram Grant, did mention Dave Jones and Billy Davies as people he had heard mentioned
  24. McInnes has permission to talk to Bristol City - thank goodness because he would be a good appointment. Anyone know any names of out of work second division Russian managers?
  25. Sums it up for me, this will be a massive statement of the Russians intent going forward. O'Driscoll or Billy Davies would be good choices in different ways and be very disappointing from our point of view. Uncle Avram or the Russian version of Jan Poortvliet would make me very, very happy. Not sure about Peter Reid - good experience but could he genuinely take them forward, or Stuart Gray - good coach but failed as a manager in the past, has he learnt from his mistakes? Interesting times indeed...
