  1. Perhaps Chinny will sell to the PST in the same way he sold to CSI... let the PST soak up the losses for a few months until they've been bled dry & Chinny has to take the reins back up again. Would be a good way for Chinny to cover some debts & gets him closer to the high wages earners being off the books. Would he then fund the loss for the rest of season (assuming no-one would be stupid enough to try owning them again) to get the club to a break-even point and then him starting to get his money back?
  2. Hahahahahahaha, for a minute I thought that was a rumour that we might sign Marius Zaliukas - but thank god it's football rumours so it can't be true. An absolutely shocking defender with terrible disciplinary problems who might just be L1 standard.
  3. Love the comments from Greg Halford... But not so attractive that you've put in for breach of contract eh Greg?
  4. Was going to comment yesterday, release clause is £1.65m according to the papers, which would be great value Great, nothing like a sweeping generalisation to help things along. Joe Hart aside, England aren't exactly flush with great goalie's at the moment are we? And I take it that you've not seen Andy Goram in his prime & Allan McGregor is also a decent goalkeeper (not convinced about him off the field hence wouldn't want Saints to go for him). He is a very good goalkeeper, that's why Sunderland stumped up £9m for him. He is injury prone, largely due to his physique IMO. I've said previously that I think he needs to bulk up a bit to avoid some of the injuries he's suffered. For the right wages, he is worth a shout and would get a very good goalkeeper for their money if they can keep him fit.
  5. Hate to say it TB, but it's not exactly in everyone's interest is it? The deferrals will be paid back said TB looking for some magic beans to pay them back with.... oh but it'll take 4 years (if you're lucky) to get back what you've deferred already so why on earth would they want to defer any more? TB really is getting more & more desperate by the day...
  6. Ok so they're still trading insolvently even with the wage deferrals, but we all know that they'll limp into next season as Rallyboy predicts with pre-season training being 4 weeks running round jackets in the local park & stealing a football from a 9 year old (plus a holiday in Gibraltar paid by god knows who). Does anyone know how much they have deferred in wages? That has to add up to sizeable chunk by now, and like or lumpitt (see what I did there) that ain't going to go away. I'm assuming that the parachute payments are going to be used to clear them unless Chainrai buys the club and pays the deferrals in the manner that Pompey pay their CVA's i.e. never. It's a sizeable and growing debt which is hanging over their heads... question is when will the players realise that Pompey won't be able to pay it back for some time... or is everyone just waiting for the axe to fall and the PFA to pick up the bill?
  7. Crikey, think I'd give it a miss if all I could stand up and say was that we've not been able to pay the players again but can we have our golden share for next season pretty please?
  8. It'll gather dust, too expensive to run for anyone to play in, the site would be reasonable for a retail development (sound familiar?) but it's expensive to pull down a 25k seat stadium so is it worth the cost? Probably not at the moment.
  9. Just listening to Talksport's Transfer tavern and they had an American journalist on who said that the Houston Dynamo's Centre Back (playing for the US against Scotland tonight) Geoff Cameron was being looked at by Saints, Reading & West Ham - clubs in Portugal & Germany also after him. Supposed to be a ball playing CB who has played in midfield as well.
  10. That's a really difficult question - there are so many factors to be taken into consideration, but here's some basic stats to start with... http://www.sportingintelligence.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Annual-foot-wage-increase-since-84.jpg Now the last change in insolvency laws took place in 2003 I believe, so if you look at 7 years before and after that date then by division Prem League - before 2003 increase of 466.8%, after 2003 increase of 190.2% Championship - before 2003 increase of 174.9%, after 2003 increase of 232.1% League One - before 2003 increase of 228.8%, after 2003 increase of 123.5% League Two - before 2003 increase of 137.6%, after 2003 increase of 129.2% So in 3 out of the four divisions, wage inflation has slowed - with the exception being the Championship. Is this the effect of the parachute payments? Overall nothing proved as I said before, there's too many factors involved to be definitive.
  11. Crazy end the the French league season. The last set of games kicked off at the same time with PSG 3 points behind Montpellier. PSG have won away from home but Montpellier, who are away to already relegated Auxerre, have had play stopped twice due to protesting home fans - the 2nd half was delayed by them throwing on tennis balls, toilet rolls & tomatoes, and again 5 mins into the 2nd half. Play has now been stopped with about 15 mins left with the score at 1-1. One Auxerre goal will see PSG win the title but at the moment Montpellier have the point they need - if they can get the last few minutes played! Of note, ex-skate John Utaka got the Montpellier goal. With regards to the PSG game, that also got held up by the PSG fans throwing flares onto the pitch when they were 1-0 down at Lorient, although they were able to recover to win 2-1.
  12. That was my first reaction - end of January/early Feb saw us only take 2 points out of 9 plus draw & then lose to Millwall in the FA Cup - so no wins in 5 games. Quite likely that would cause some difficult conversations to take place - which may then be viewed as strained. Absolutely confident that NA will be here next season.
  13. Has been very injury prone at Sunderland but definately worth a look, especially on a free. He will be a very, very good keeper if someone can get him fit and keep him injury free. Having met him just before he left Hearts to join Sunderland, he could do with working on a few weights to just bulk up a bit, whether that would be enough to help get over some of his problems - who know's.
  14. Almost gets it... apart from this bit - "whenever I tell people I'm a Pompey fan I get the jibes about cheats and "Buying" the FA Cup, and all the rest of the ill-informed comments regarding our perceived dodgy dealings, cheating of charities and so on" No you were guilty of dodgy dealings and cheating of charities - not once but twice! There's no ill-informed about it. But at least he gets Chainrai, let's hope many more get Chainrai & the gates dwindle to a few thousand. Pompey are the footballing equivalent of a black hole - sucking in anyone who comes near to certain destruction.
  15. With regards to his comments about Bolton, I was listening to an interview with Phil Gartside on Keys & Gray on Talksport earlier this week - he confirmed that they had a £10m overdraft which the bank had offered to increase to £15m this season, and the remaining debt was to their rich benefactor akin to equity debt. Wasn't very clear if they taken the same steps as the Liebherr family and converted to equity but he wasn't concerned about their financial position other than realigning the wages in the squad for the new season. That said they have a lot of out of contract players so need to rebuild anyway.
  16. Very sad news indeed, speedway safety has come a long way with air fences in the last few years - not sure if they were being used - but Wroclaw is a major speedway track in Poland. Some of you may have seen him at Poole where he raced early in his career. RIP Lee. http://www.speedwaygp.com/news/article/1337/rip-lee-richardson
  17. Totally agree, both have proved that you don't need Premier League experience to be able to hold your own - just a balanced team. We just need to make sure that they fit in with the squad and the ethos that we have.
  18. Does Chinny have the time to strip the carcass? Henderson's already gone, deals agreed for Halford and Pearce already. Who exactly is going to be left by the time Chinny gets round to owning the club - other than Kanu as he can't run away as quickly as the others? Seems more like TB is striping the assets before liquidation...
  19. Moff, you certainly didn't capitulate, you've got some really talented youngsters in that squad which I hope you manage to keep hold of. Always had a soft spot for Cov (having been to Uni there) so really hope you manage to survive SISU. L1 is hard, but an enjoyable league to be in but really hope you fight your way out soon.
  20. Not sure, but didn't TB say that Gaydemak is owed the next few parachute payments? If so, when is the next payment that the club will receive?
  21. 2-0 to Brizzle City... she's walking on stage...
  22. I think they withdrew their bid (or it failed). Plymouth & Bristol were going to be the 'South West' venues.
  23. Just seen this thread, was at the game in the Hearts end. To be honest, he did nothing in the first half... but a great start to the second half, also had a fantastic shot a few minutes later which Fraser Forster only just got round the post. He is a cult hero at Tynecastle, but his overall work rate just isn't there. He does have a great goalscoring ratio but feel he's found his level at Hearts. I did see them just before Christmas in a home game at Tynecastle against St Johnstone (think it was Steve Lomas's 2nd game in charge) and it has to be one of the worst games I have ever seen, and I've see a fair bit of L2 football. So I think Hearts level is mid-table L1.
  24. No, his ears get in the way then...
