Loan with an option to buy. Can't access the Celta website to see if there's any further detail. Celta fans on Twitter about a 50/50 mix of very excited & WTF is he?

I don't think any of them will. The counter argument is, had they stayed with us, would they have regretted not trying to maximise their careers? Sportspeople at that level all have a certain amount of self belief, which some will interpret as arrogance, in their abilities. That's one of the things that gets them where they are. Most will try to play at the highest level they can (or best club in this case), there are very few Le Tissier's out there who have other priorities.

To be fair, he did use the words ambitious & unrealistic in his description of Giroud. That said, I'd be pretty disappointed in the recruitment team if they didn't at least make an enquiry to Chelsea & his agent to see if it was a possiblity and check expectations on transfer fee & wages. Remember no-one though for one minute that little ol' Saints would sign Kevin Keegan, the reigning European Footballer of the Year. How would you feel if we ignored him and he then ended up signing for West Ham or Crystal Palace?

Every name linked with us so far has been 'gash' according to Ally, the existing squad is also 'gash'. I won't hold my breath waiting for some suggestions! That said, I wouldn't sign either. Origi would be a better bet than Ings, but I'd much prefer Sam Gallagher to get a extended chance.

Summer 2018 - Other teams Manager/transfer business

Don't forget they've got Yannick Bolasie as well. Wonder if we fancy going back in for Walcott? -
I hope we would look at all players on a player by player basis. Historically, England (& Scotland) have had very few South American players compared to the other major European Leagues. Largely I would say that's down to factors such as language, climate and culture. That's why you see so may Argentine players in Spain and Brazilian players in Portugal. The other factor is the playing style. It's much harder to get used to league with the pace and accepted physicality of the Premier League.

Was on loan at Sheffield United last season. At 24, he's too old for the junior teams and Chelsea have already moved out one goalkeeper, Eduardo on loan. He was one of 4 named in the first team squad last season. Thibaut Courtois and Willy Caballero are still there, the other goalkeeper in the squad last year was Marcin Bulka, he does fit the age range for the u23's however. Personally I'd be surprised whoever moves in for Fraser, but this was one of the rumours, so let's see what happens.

Sky Sports reporting that Jamal Blackman has joined Leeds on loan from Chelsea for the season. So let's see if there are anything in the rumours of Fraser to Chelsea....

Even we could score 22 against a team of cones. In fact, from the goal I saw on Twitter, they were worse than cones, the goalkeeper actually walked away to have a drink rather than try and make a save. -
You've never been to Mansfield, have you?

Just what M'bappe would have done to Ashley Young in the final will now never be known, but that was one matchup I wasn't looking forward to.

9 goals and 6 assists in 65 games? I know Hamburg have been poor for the last couple of years but that's hardly prolific.

I love the quote from Rob Wilson (football finance expert) Umm, remind me how many times in a row that Juventus have won the Italian League? -
Dejan Lovren being typically modest. He needs to be careful, his head might be too big to get back to Liverpool. https://twitter.com/ESPNFC

Reports on Twitter from a journalist who used to cover Wolves for their local paper that Wolves agreed fee with Manchester City for Olegsandr Zinchenko, £12m up front rising to £16m with add-on's. Up to the player if he wants to move. -
We took 29 players to China, be hard pressed to get them all game time in the first match.
-
Understand you're basing a decision on last season, but if you're going to give them a chance then give them a bit more than 25 minutes of the first pre-season friendly where they've been back at training for less than a week & in that time we've flown half way round the world.

Italian journalist on Twitter claiming perennial forum favourite Bas Dost is on his way to Fenerbahce for €15m. -
For me, Shaqiri is overrated. You have to build the team round him and I'm not sure he delivers consistently enough for a club like Saints to do that. Yes, the jury is out on Elyounnousi as he's coming to a new league and will need to settle in. But did you see what he did to Manchester City in the Champions League? And you think he'll be a squad player.
-
I'd be really surprised if they're trying to offload Yerry Mina. But even if he became available, I suspect we'll be at the bottom of a long list of teams trying to get him. But no harm in trying (unless he's on or wants massive wages). Anyway re Marlon, having watched that YouTube video, there's nothing in there of how he deals with balls in the air. My view is that he should be converted to a defensive midfielder, he the Wanyama replacement that we've been waiting a few seasons for. Tackles hard but with even better distribution.
-
Maybe we see some value at €12m. Nice had a €20m buy clause in their loan, and West Ham were reported to be looking at a £17.5m bid a month ago before they decided against him.

I knew we signed a partnership agreement with Club Brugge in Belgium but I hadn't realised we had an agreement with a club in France. Be interesting to see how this develops. http://entente-ssg.footeo.com/actualite/2018/01/15/l-entente-partenaire-du-southampton-fc.html
