Sure I heard earlier that Talksport were interviewing FDB on the Sports Breakfast tomorrow - no idea what time.

Morgan Called Up for France WC Squad (Official)
Gorgiesaint replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
No, I am!!! You're right. Baines didn't play - cashley got picked from the start and Luke came on at half time. The point is valid though, why pick Cole when he's got 100 plus caps - roy must have known what he can do, same as DD knows what Pogba can do. -

That was a strange one, at 6-0 up and 18 mins left I'm not sure what DD is going to learn about Pogba. All smacks of Hodgson v Denmark when Leighton Baines played the first half & then he brought on Ashley Cole at half time, leaving the then uncapped Luke Shaw on the bench. Still least he got 3 minutes at the end!! -
Probably didn't phrase that quite right. I don't know either too well, but I gather they're both out & out centre forwards. Are they too similar? Do we need to spend two lots of £8-10m on very similar strikers? (Especially when 2 out of the 3 strikers we do have, assuming we can't get rid of Osvaldo, are also similar?) Put it this way, if we had Gallagher, Osvaldo, J Rod, Pelle and Paulinho - how do you see them fitting together?
-
Seems to fit, a position we need and Torino interested as well. That said, if Koeman is going to bring Graziano Pelle, do we need Paulinho as well? And to those saying we're favourites on Skybet to sign Caulker - yes, we are at 7-2!! To put some perspective on that Spurs are even money to sign J Rod.

Alex Crook just been on Talksport. He is not expecting an announcement for another week, but the only name mentioned was Ronald Koeman. He believes it will be him, fits the big name that the board are looking for, not only to bring in players but also to try and help keep hold of Lallana & Shaw, and also that he is a keen user of players from the youth team. Crook did also mentioned that if Lallana & Shaw go then he understands that the new manager will get those funds as well as as allocated transfer budget. He did mention bring Graziano Pelle from Feyenoord as a replacement for SRL.

I was following Skybet last night as well. Koeman was 4-9 for most of the evening and the came in to 2-5, he's back out to 4-9 this morning. Magath was 4-1 a couple of days ago, came in to 7-2 yesterday & and is 11-4 this morning. I would read that as a little price adjustment given the money they are taking on certain candidates rather than any firm indication of who might get the job.
-
In other news, mighty Gibraltar picked up their first ever win on the international stage beating Malta 1-0 this evening. No doubt they'll thank pompey for the lesson in football that they received a couple of years back, oh and the squirrel recipes!

Just taken a look at the Dutch press, very little on Koeman. Algemeen Dagblad stated that Koeman was photographed and put on Twitter last night as being at Gatwick Aairport on his way to Southampton. The reporter confirms Koeman has been approached by Southampton. The only other mention was on Voetbal International (biggest weekly football magazine in Holland) who stated that he was favourite for the job. All very quiet at the Dutch end!!!

Coming up on Talksport, Adrian Durham (yes you know what's coming) 1. Is Liverpool signing SRL a head's gone? 2. Are Saints being disrespectful to Lallana in not selling him? You couldn't make it up - but obviously Durham can.

It took me 2 attempts to read Rickie's letter whilst at work due to be very misty eyed! Hard though it is to lose our talisman, you would have to be totally heartless to deny him that move. Thank you Rickie for your contributions over the last 5 years - we've enjoyed watching you as much as it sounds like you enjoyed playing for us. Just don't curl in a trademark free-kick against us in the last minute at the Kop End next season - that would be going too far!!

Will Saints ever be a "bigger fish in the sea"?
Gorgiesaint replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
No, we won't. The big clubs have too much to lose and anyone who looks likely to build something and threaten the cosy cartel at the top will have all its players linked with moves away and destabilised in the way that has happened with us this summer. (Plus some weak leadership isn't helping matters). -
Lovren is one of the players that we really need to keep. If Murat Yakin comes in as the new manager, I wonder if he could bring Fabian Schar with him - 22 year old Swiss CB with FC Basel who seems highly rated. Would fit with what was our profile for signing players (that's making the very large assumption that we are going to sign players). Anyone follow Swiss football or seen him in action to say what he 's like?
-
If AFCB get 25% of the gross fee and we want £20m, Liverpool need to agree a fee of circa £27m. Let's hope Ralph has grown a pair and says no. And I wonder if what was said is we won't even consider the bid unless we net £20m - but even so....
-
Well the 20 scouts have been busy and have finally found SRL's replacement (or maybe not).... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27639964

To a certain extent, you're right we are victims of our own success. However all of the players linked with moves away are under contract. There would have nothing stopping Krueger saying to the players that there is nothing we can do to stop Poch going (assuming he had a £2m buy out clause) however none of you are up for sale and we intend to keep all of you so we won't entertain bids for you. It would have least sent a clear message to the players & their agents. I think the point the OP was trying to make was that assuming we sell 8-9 of our main players this summer, we get a new manager who underwhelms and new signings look thin on the ground and of lesser quality then are we just going to sit there as a fanbase and allow KL to carry out what will be a plan to asset strip? Or are we going to make our voices heard? It may be that the first game of the season is too late.
-
Listening to Talksport, not had a mention even in the sports news on the half hour (or at 9.00pm)
-
We should just allow Poch to go to Spurs on the proviso that Spurs sign Osvaldo for £15m...
-
I came out of work at 4 and switched on Talksport and from the way they were talking, I honestly thought it had been formally announced that Poch had signed for Spurs. Half the fans are not that keen on him, unless he starts really well, Levy will be back under pressure - Poch won't last a season.
-
One thing I've not heard mentioned is Spurs' Argentine connection. Remember the early 80's when they brought in Ossie Ardiles & Ricardo Villa, Poch would have been about 18-19 at the time, maybe that's one of the many reasons he see's Spurs as a bigger club. Another thing, he was brought in by Cortese who showed no mercy to Nigel Adkins when someone better came available - should we be that surprised if Cortese's man then shows the same attitude when a bigger club comes calling. That said, I'll be extremely disappointed if he leaves. The Spurs job is a poisoned chalice and I think Poch is the wrong man for them so I don't expect him to last the season.
-
Corrected it for you, the world hasn't ended yet.
-
Just listened to the Press Pass on Talksport. They didn't spend a lot of time on Spurs & Saints but seemed to think that Poch would now be staying with Saints.
-
Alderweireld - yes please but I doubt will get him.
-
And the next story down at the bottom of the page was Poch in talks with Southampton over new contract putting all these moves in doubt. In short, they haven't got a clue.
