  1. Except you don't know that she's taken the money. The club have brought in transfer fee's so the money will be in the club unless you have some proof otherwise.
  2. For me, Chambers leaving would be the most disappointing. Experienced players who have proven themselves in the PL and then gone to a World Cup leaving for a potential top 4 side I can understand, even Luke Shaw as the most inexperienced is going to replace Patrice Evra at Man Utd - they've all moved to top clubs in or around the Champions League and got massive pay rises out of it as well. Chambers will go to Arsenal, and I'm not convinced he'll be their first choice right back. Batman is right, if we tell him to stay then he will and he'll improve for it. One thing he won't do is strike. But if the board have capitulated to Chambers moving, what chance have we got of keeping hold of Morgan? Absolutely none. It a bad move for the player, and it's a bad move by Saints - this has truly set the precedent. We really do need some players in, and quickly.
  3. Page 4, new thread ruined. Well done guys, great effort.
  4. Sorry to interrupt the 70's totty chat but did Guan say Lovren was sold?
  5. Listening to Talksport, Colin Murray's show just started and he's said that Matt Le Tissier has texted him & told him to get Frannie Benali on the show (which he will be about 12.00) and he's said that he doesn't know why? Could there be an announcement (player in or player out) this morning?
  6. Being widely reported that Caulker is having a medical at QPR today.
  7. I don't think anyone has seen things play out as they expected. Of course, if you can link to any posts from the first couple of months last season that say that our ambitious Chairman is going to throw his toys out as he's been spending over his means and resign, the manager is going to play the board along in saying he sign a new contract when from March he was looking at other clubs, and that 3 of our key players would have left with 2 more probably going (and 2 of those threatening to strike if they didn't get their move) then please do so because I can't recall anyone predicting that. If they did then fair play to them. Had we been able to keep the group (of players) together for one more season, it would have been interesting to see where we would have finished. This summer would have been about adding quality in certain key area's and getting some depth to the squad. Could it have put us in a position to be another Everton, with a track record of finishing top six? Anyway what's happened has happened so your last comment is probably the way forward - cups.
  8. According to the well trusted source that is Wikipedia, the biggest problem will be his attitude. Left 3 out of his last 4 clubs under a cloud. Not for me.
  9. Saints are a selling club, all clubs outside the very top are. But t doesn't help when c u n t s like Samuel and his Daily Mail buddies seem to have spent more column inches hawking our players around the top 6 clubs than actually reporting on any transfer that have happened. Today's Saints player for sale in the Fail - Calum Chambers http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2691562/Arsenal-want-Calum-Chambers-Southampton-despite-signing-Newcastle-United-defender-Mathieu-Debuchy.html It actually makes you wonder if any of these so-called journalists are paid by the top 6 to help unsettle certain transfer targets.
  10. Then take a look at this interview with Spur's Benoit Assou-Ekotto in the Guardian from a few years back http://www.theguardian.com/football/2010/may/01/benoit-assou-ekotto-tottenham-hotspur
  11. Just love the last paragraph from that article
  12. pompey's five year plan. For all the turmoil the main board is in at the moment... compare & contrast!
  13. Just caught a journalist (first name James but missed his surname) talking about transfers on Talksport and mentioned Lovren to Liverpool and said that there was a gentlemens agreement between Saints & Lovren that we would let him go if someone bid £20m. If true first time I've heard that mentioned. Personally I don't believe it, if it was true then he should have had a clause inserted into his contract. But I wonder (and this is pure speculation), did he have some form of agreement that we would tell him about any bid of £20m or above. It might explain why he was so upset that we didn't advise him of the Liverpool bid, which has always struck me as being out of character given how he bonded with the squad last season and seemed to be one of the leaders of the feelgood factor around SMS.
  14. I did see a comment on the Sky Sports paper talk section which linked to the Daily Star and that Napoli were planning to bid for Morgan, quoting wages of £800k pa - which would have been £16k pw. I laughed that off at the time, surely he has to be on at least £20-25k pw. http://www1.skysports.com/football/transfer-paper-talk Can't see any mention on the Daily Star site.
  15. Wouldn't surprise me at all.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-28078457 Talksport reporting that the deal has been completed.
  16. The main board has more conspiracy theories than are currently going round the Lounge. The simple explanation is usually the right one. We pulled together a fantastic team that gelled under Pochettino, other clubs in the top 5-6 realised how good they are and are buying them up with the ability to offer European football and at least 2-3 times the salary that we can offer. The one slightly different would be Rickie who is going to fulfil fis boyhood dreams (still probably on double the salary). We hit a glass ceiling last year, we know that, the players know that, their agents know that & the top 5-6 clubs know that. There really is nothing bizarre about it.
  17. Arsene would never spend enough to get Alexis Sanchez.
  18. Some interesting points been made over the last few pages on this thread. For me, it was always going to be the case that our 'success' last season was going to lead to interest in our players from those in the top 6 who have that financial advantage over clubs like Saints. What I suppose I have been surprised at is the scope of the potential exodus. I'm not sure I can recall a close season where so many players from a side finishing in the top half of the table have been linked with moves away. Welcome to the true Premier League! To those of you who are completely fed up by the PL and the way the big clubs bully the smaller teams, and are threatening not to re-new season tickets but just become armchair fans. I hope that's not an armchair fan with a Sky Subscription because you'll just be making things worse. If you really want to do something. Ditch Sky and keep your season ticket. My final point is I've been thinking about players that have left and been a success elsewhere and those that have left at things haven't gone so well. I remembered that Arsenal had a buy-back clause in Cesc Fabregas' contract, and the same has been said for Carlos Vela. Should we be looking at putting in a buy-back clause into people like Lallana's contract or would we be happy to see him move to a West Ham team in a couple of years if things don't go his way at Liverpool?
  19. Talksport confirming deal done... in excess of £30m.
  20. I may well be wrong, but my understanding that to sign a pre-contract with another club in the same country, you had to be in the last 6 months of your contract with your current club. It's 12 months if the new club is in another country. Didn't Shaw sign a long term deal recently (which is one reason the transfer figure is so high)?
  21. Great defender.... in his day. I think we'd rather go for his nipper Daley, he's looked quite good for the Dutch in this WC.
  22. And end up with someone like Alec Salmond as the head of state... no thanks.
  23. Studied there back between 1988 & 1991 so its probably changed a lot since I was there. Don't forget Warwick Uni is 20 min bus ride from Coventry as well which was always highly regraded in my day.
  24. If he goes... then the good news may be that Liverpool won't get their hands on him. The bad news is according to the Express (yes, I know) Barcelona are now after him. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/482261/Barcelona-looking-to-hijack-Liverpool-s-move-for-Dejan-Lovren-after-cashing-in-on-Fabregas
