Pelle & Lambert have suffered from the same problem in that they've both been asked to lead the line on their own with no back up (Lambert post J-Rod's injury in particular). Both started the seasons ok but have drop off without the opportunity to re-fresh them by allowing a few games rest. Having both would have solved that. Whether the wage bill policy allowed for both is open to debate - but if we do qualify for Europe next season, then we will need a 2nd out & out front man to share the workload.

That's what I thought, until I read the promotion/relegation piece on the BBC website which said the FA Cup runners-up would get the 3rd Europa League place. Now it wouldn't surprise me if the BBC had it wrong, but does anyone know for sure?

On the face of it, £118k Operating Profit is something to applauded, except until you realise that they've done a choose which bills you want to pay like it's a pick-a-mix in the local Odean and it doesn't include the interest on the loans they have to pay. It does raise a number of questions which need answering - - what would the loss be if they'd paid back any capital on the loan if the interest only took them to £171k loss - they ended the year with pst at a 49% stake in the club - what did they start the year on so we can see how much their share has been diluted. If they had maintained their show, how would this have effected the loss? - how much of the season ticket money is included in these accounts give it is year until 30 June 2014 and I seem to recall a lot of season tickets, pies & programmes were sold before the end of June (I may be wrong- just my recollection) and going forward: - how much is the tatty timber tabernacle (not had that one for a while) going to cost them to keep going this season given the fat in the pipes appears to seeping through the Directors room ceiling - who's paying this year, the club or are they going to further dilute their ownership?

It's probably Paul Lambert that he's having a go at - given he was on loan at Villa last season.

But only as an academy coach!! I nearly crashed the car when I heard the news on the radio, however I only got the headline that's in the title. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31904602 Good luck to him, should be a good opportunity over there. Always good to see ex-Saints doing well.

Well Chris Gayle bats himself back into form with a double hundred... and was that 33 balls for the second hundred?

When does Barca's transfer ban come to an end? Anyway, the easy way to sort it is Arsenal pay us £80m for Morgan - could live with that.

Good to see that the new era of transparency is now in full swing at the far end of the m27

I'm not sure, isn't the building site to the right where the new (empty) Tesco will be and nearest the camera looking like a beach is where the car park is - think you can just make out the parking spaces on the side nearest the stadium. If that's right, could they still get the stadium turned 90 degrees? Looks like they might have room - except is there a sliver of land cutting the beach & stadium in two parts?

Didn't take Ricky Holmes long to get off the mark for Northampton... 5 minutes. How do pompey make everyone look so cr*p, they've refined it to an art form!!

me too!

There must be something in the water down there as even Clotterill is managing to do a decent job at Bristol City.

Announced in the pre-game build up at Villa Park that he's signed a new deal with Villa
-
Whilst he hasn't set the Scottish Premier League on fire of late, he is playing in possibly the worst Celtic team for probably 20-30 years. That said I'm not sure he's the quality of player we should be looking to sign - maybe when we first got promoted but not now.

Skybet have them 33-1 for relegation and (stop sn iggering) promotion....

Well given the town I'm sure the closest Burton can come to Pedigree is a can of Marston's... Still better than that lot down the road who can only hope the closest they'll come to Pedigree is for their new Tesco's to stock plenty of Pedigree Chum. That said, one thing I can't see the dog food aisle having is lots of Winalot.

Nice to see that the club have finally put Markus' name to something.

Very sad news indeed, an extremely talented cricketer with most of his career in front of him. Thoughts with his family and to Sean Abbott who must be devastated.

Thanks both!

I was looking for the pompey bandstand photo yesterday, anyone know which page it's on? We were having a discussion at work about the worst bands that have played at football.

Well here's an interesting development http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30103293 FIFA lodges criminal complaint over world cup hosting... but I thought Sepp said that there was nothing wrong with the Russian or Qatari bids. New smokescreen or have they actually been forced to do something?

Got to say it's the first time I've heard of sauna stops play!! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29965008

Alex Crook was on Talksport tonight. Seemed fairly confident that Mitchell won't go to Spurs, not really based on anything other than why? Money was the only positive they could come up with, against stadium problems, rumoured takeover again on the horizon & dealing with levy himself.

Fair play to Koeman for the substitution and great to see Long get his first goals. Anyone have any links?
