Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester
Kingsbridge Saint replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
He needs to step his game up. Our zonal marking at corners is an absolute disaster area because he is too slow to move to the danger spot when it is in his zone. Doesn't move his feet fast enough and just sort of leans. Not good enough. -
I do not want to see Hoedt waltz back in on Sunday. My continued support for Hughes will take a big dent if that happens.

Wolves 2 Saints 0 - Match & Meltdown Thread
Kingsbridge Saint replied to Shroppie's topic in The Saints
Centre back pairing has a major mistake in it every game - usually Hoedt. Vestergard made the exactly the same mistake defending a corner this week as the Matip goal last week and clearly isn't learning. Those two should be on notice. Lemina and Redmond can't seem to play together, Lemina has done nothing for a long time. Should also be on notice. Elyonoussi seems to be stealing a living as a footballer. Contributes absolutely nothing. The corner he took is the worst I have ever seen in the Premier League. Should be on notice. As someone else said last week - Austin plays like he is carrying a piano. Should also be on notice. And we need a new captain - Hoj probably. Bertrand is way too laissez-faire. With Bednarek, Yoshi and Stephens available at the back and an Italian International striker struggling for confidence/game time the solutions are there for Hughes, but he needs to make sure he makes the changes needed and doesn't come across like a stubborn old bastard like the last 2 Managers. -
Exactly this. Give him some time. As long as we don't get in the same state as last year it's time not to change yet. At least we are having a go with two up front. Much better to watch. Interested in the Ralph/Hughes thing though - interesting.
-
We could have kept Puel and got 8th and a Cup Final every season. I wouldn't have been watching though. Watching that football was like having your toenails pulled out with a rusty pair of pliers. At least Hughes teams have a go. Far more courage than the bloke who set up for a 0-0 against Hapoel Tel Aviv at home. And lost.

Wolves are a very good side - but we can be as well. I think this will be a great game. Saints to edge a 5 goal thriller with a fresh Danny Ings being the difference.
-
Par. Move on.
-
Kept us up, got us playing much better attacking football and the season is 5 games old. Let's start a thread like this if we are in the bottom 6 after 12 games. Otherwise you risk looking like a knee jerk muppet with an agenda.

I was recalling watching Smalling this weekend with both arms around a man, wrestling him to the ground as a corner went over. And countless other instances over many weekends watching games. The ref was looking to give it. When was the last time a goalkeeper got booked for moving the ball from one side of the six yard box to the other? Yes timewasting, but everyone else seems to do it and get away with it. Ramos picks up UEFA awards for doing it better than anyone else. Plank referee was looking to give it. Soft penalty all day long. And MH has said it was soft as well.
-
Would have been a decent win and sitting in the top 10 but for a soft penalty. We will be alright this season. It's much better to watch than the last 2 years as well. Hope Hughes is given time.
-
Rubbish. We see that week in week out every game, hardly ever given. If they were there would be six or seven penalties every game. Get a grip. It was a soft penalty. Very soft.

Who plays alongside Ings vs Brighton?
Kingsbridge Saint replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Time to give Gabbiadini a chance. If he can recapture some of the form from when he joined that would be an awesome front two. And it might just be game time/confidence he needs. -
Article is total crap and deserves derision. Can't believe so many at the start of the thread agreeing. Wouldn't want any of you in the trenches thanks very much. Hughes kept us up last year and has now got us playing entertaining football. Would much rather be a Saints fan where the pain makes the glory all the sweeter. What's the point in supporting a big club when winning is par and mostly means **** all?
-
Cardiff, Huddersfield, Country Mile, then one other.
-
Thought Cedric and PEH were both outstanding given the issues they have had in recent games. Both really stepped up. Cedric doesn't get many assists, so I hope he enjoyed the buzz and wants some more.
-
We deserved that today. We are playing much better than the cautious defensive one up front dross served up by the two Continental Knob Jockeys and the results are coming. And what a coincidence that the turnaround has come playing 4-4-2. Chuck that UEFA Coaching Manual on the fire.
-
This is the most ridiculous thread I have ever seen on this forum. ****ing lunacy.
-
Hughes keeps us up, 4 games into the new season and we are playing better football. And then we get a post like this. Cretinous.
-
Difficult one for Fraser. Probably trying to get a loan deal, but otherwise - wouldn't you just swallow your pride and sit tight, and see your contract out for a sum that would see you possibly never having to work again in your life?
-
I thought we played some good football, way way better to watch than the slow-paced cautious tripe of the last two seasons. The results will come, though it's hard to take a sucker punch from a side managed by the dirge-bag Puel. Cedrics headed clearance wouldn't have been far enough if the game had been played in a lift shaft, and **** knows what Moe was doing. He had a poor game as well. If Cedric and Moe had played as well on the right as Redmond and Bertie did on the left we win that two or three nil. Cedric is becoming a liability at the back in the air and offers absolutely nothing going forward. So Targett in for Cedric at right back for me as a permanent change, Moe will come good with a better player behind him. I can see why Hughes started Long - just wanted someone with the pace to get to the ball and hold it up. Long is one of the fastest players in European football. Second only to Arjen Robben I recall - Google it. With the first sub I thought Hoj should have gone off to be replaced by Austin, but if Ings was injured, fair enough. I trust Hughes to get it right. He is getting there. Can't see top half this season, but would be staggered if we have a worse season than last year. Let's see where we are after 10 games.
-
Gabbi and Ings up top for me. Maybe Gabbi and Austin with Ings in behind. Had enough of all the trendy one up front and keep possession BS. Fully expect Arsenal to struggle under Emery having read his comments about one up front and 'possibilities' today. Another foreign knobjockey manager constipating the Premier League.

Yer Mum Zahore? Best Fantasy League Team Name Ever?

I would really like us to show Puel that we are no longer afraid of taking risks, we have left his brand of football behind. Let's have a go. If we don't win, fair enough, but I want to see some expansive football. A couple of goals would be nice too. Last year was a shambles, but that was mostly down to the players not putting a shift in for Pellegrino.
-
Disappointed with the result but hardly unexpected. At least we have a manager prepared to have a go even though he is not getting it right all the time at the moment. Plenty of talent to come back in. Will be an improvement on last season in terms of position and on the previous 2 in terms of entertainment .

Happy with the point against a 'played-in' Burnley - particularly after the first hour. 5 at the back doesn't work for us as it leaves the midfield light and the striker isolated. Because the two wing backs don't operate as wing backs. 4 at the back is the way to go and I would be giving Hoedt a rest, just too many errors, every game at the moment. Ings has to start at Everton, he was different class and can help everyone around him raise their games as well - Redmond benefited greatly from his arrival.
