Would have been a point and a fair result at 1-1 but Che decided not to score our goal. the dropped point is 100% on him. I'd be shocked if I saw a miss like that in parks football.
-
The game was only lost because JWP allowed Fernandes to run off him. He was marking no-one and walking when Fernandes was left free to shoot. A bit of pressure could have made a big difference.
-
Really pleased with that result and performance. Very important confidence booster for the season. Bottom of the league at home next so every reason to be cheerful.
-
Our players need to be able to handle pressure better. Hard work and supporting each other on the pitch is the answer. Playing it forward to someone who is tightly marked knowing they have the technical ability to hold it up, or play on the half turn. Stuff that Adkins had us doing really well. Stuart Armstrong first name on the teamsheet Saturday.
-
Ralph out sooner rather than later on that selection. Yes it was Spurs, and I expected us to get tonked 4-0, so a better result than I expected. However, Che and AA should have been up top, leaving AA isolated then dragging him after 45 is shocking abuse. Aribo and Stu in behind with two solid DM's - one of which should be JWP (he can play a more advanced role against less powerful opponents). Stu Armstrong is the best player at the club, can't believe he started on the bench. You play a 3 man defence if you have three top quality defenders. We started with Bednarek, Valery and Salisu (worst own goal technically I've ever seen in the Premier League). He has to go because he won't change - we've see it all before with his stubbornness.
-
Hmm - not so sure of this. With City's result tonight Liverpool are really going to go for it, and could easily hit 10-0 though 6-0 or 7-0 would be about par. Then when we lose our last game by 3 or 4 and Leeds win their last two by three we would still go down. Stranger things have happened. Look at Bristol Rovers - and if we give Leeds a goal difference sniff on the last day it'll be panic stations regardless.
-
If Ralph has to stay he needs to show some initiative by sacking half the coaching staff in the close season and bringing in some people with fresh ideas, and then listening to them. Currently picking the wrong players in the wrong set up every single week. How Redmond continues to start is beyond me. Does nothing going forward and culpable for the third goal today. We need more energy in transition. I'd have Adkins back in a heartbeat - he'd soon sort the lazy bastards out.
-
Relegation odds slashed by 1/3 following yesterdays results. The only side I'm confident we'll finish above (as well as Norwich and Watford) is Leeds. Burnley and Everton are both likely to sail past us.

I think this might be the third time I've made this point after yet another dismal performance under Ralph but we've been awful ever since he changed a winning side for the West Ham FA cup match. Thought it was a stupid move at the time, because even though we got through the 'first team' got the big 'I Am' mentality and now he can't put the genie back in the bottle. I'd be happy to see him gone just for doing that, and the arrogance shown afterwards.
-
Yet another second half capitulation. Offered absolutely nothing after going 1 up, as usual. Equaliser as inevitable as the sun rising in the morning. Palace stoppage time winner from Zaha as predictable as the sun setting in the evening. Poor team selection. Redmond? Neither Armstrong? No tactical changes. Questions over Ralph again.
-
We've been awful ever since Ralph blew smoke up the arses of some senior Pros by 'resting' them for the cup match. Big 'I am' syndrome from a lot of them now. Also - JWP needs to realise thumping the ball backwards isn't a failsafe strategy. Perfectly weighted assist there when he could have chosen other more progressive options. Glad Chelsea put the cue in the rack at 6, I'm not going to say we kept it to 6.
-
We've not been the same since the 'first team' came back after being 'rested' for the cup match. I disagreed with making the changes then, and even more so now.
-
Awful in every way from JWP. Shit corners, sideways and backwards unless it’s the 8th minute of stoppage time against 10 men, not making a call on McCarthy. Move the armband to Romeu and sell JWP in January. Something has to change and if it isn’t Ralph, after 72 points lost from winning positions, you have to look at who is leading on the pitch.

Going to read the rest of this thread next - but wanted to comment without any influence from whats gone before. James Ward-Prowse needs to be taken off corners. There aren't many worse them him in the EPL. After watching Allison completely flustered by balls under his crossbar three weeks ago week - West Ham scored twice like that - Ward-Prowse hit the first man on the nearside of the 6 yard box nearly every time. Followed usually by a 50 yard sprint back as we got hit on the break. Tactics or inability? Either way it was dreadful stuff.
-
I seriously think its time to leave them out there at half time. Its beyond a joke. Just take the drinks out and keep the coaches away from them. And extra fitness training for the rest of the season. The fact we can’t run in second halves is unprofessional. These second halves need to be fixed.
-
Mo is a bit lightweight isn’t he. Brushed off the ball like a paper bag in the wind.
-
Broja time for me. Get some pace on there for the breaks.
-
Ralph really should be on notice that his half time team talks need to improve. So many games this season we’ve come out an absolute shambles with no energy.

Smallbones, Big hooves. Schoolboy penalty, don't lean back. Good to see him back though, he'll be like a new signing if he improves. Foster>McCarthy for sure. The Keeper problem seems to be that once they get in the first team they get more work with our goalkeeping coaches, which is why their form tails off. Reassuring performance from Theo in that we'll miss absolutely nothing in getting a place ready for JWP. Lyanco in for 'after you Claude' Bednarek at the weekend please. Bednarek is decent but needs a kick up the arse right now, and needs to fight for his spot. Fully anticipated improved performance against a top team tonight, let's see what we get in a game we have a fair chance of getting something at the weekend. I think I can see what's coming. -

Not the kindest draw, but we can get through. They won't field the first team and we can get a draw and take it to penalties. -

Never drop Stuart Armstrong again. And give him the captains armband too. JWP hits a sweet free kick but is quiet as church mouse. He is not a leader of men. At the risk of knee jerking I'd have Forster back in after conceding three in one half. McCarthy partly to blame for the first one and beaten from 25 yards for the second. Not good enough. -
Ralphs credit ran out last night. Sick of watching the team play like that. Relegation battle clearly looming next season. We just need a manager that can play progressive football and keep us safely mid table. Maybe thats an impossible ask with the owners we have.
-
Conceded the same goal as we did against Brighton and Burnley. Long ball up to the big man, flick on with Bednarek made to look like a muppet, second striker straight in on goal. Wtf is Ralph doing in training? Its horrifying.
-
Brightons goal - all our players daydreaming, walking and marking space. No idea going forward, nothing. We are as bad as Sheff Utd, WBA and Newcastle and are in a fight to stay up now. Absolutely fucking dreadful. Ralph needs to step up or ship out.

Need a win here, no question. Time for the Senior Pros to make a statement. Che badly needs a goal, play him here as he must fancy it as a big chance. Redmond off the bench with a point to prove if needed. Is the Karate Kid back yet? Might be another good wildcard option off the bench with a point to prove.
