Finished the game with Tadic and Redmond and one up front. Two shots on target in 90 minutes. Groundhog Day.

As soon as Leicester score it will be game over. Character is another thing this Saints side does not have.

Was from Kingsbridge (sleepy Malborough actually) and had been travelling up for games until moving to Brisbane in 2008. Managed to get back for Leicester (H) this season. As well as the side stinking the place out they had run out of Bovril before kickoff. Thoroughly depressing visit. -
Tadic is trying to avoid getting a knock before the World Cup. It's bloody obvious the way he is pulling out of tackles. Should be nowhere near the team for the rest of the season. Time for a run for Sims.
-
Agree with this. Also - Wilkshire is an odious little piece of work.
-
Forget theoretical ability. Get the grafters in the team, and keep them in to the end of the season. If Tadic or Redmond are selected I expect to see them bleeding out of their eyes by the end of the game. I will be gutted if I see the same Showpony 11 we saw at West Ham. Pied, Mcqueen, Romeu, Davis, JWP, Sims, Yoshida, Long, Austin = all workers.
-
Would much rather read an honest accurate assessment of the game like that than some of the drivel that comes out of the club, like the recent stuff from Tadic.
-
Won't be an apology. Will be a vastly improved performance in defeat.

Tadic, "We are ashamed and it's all our fault"
Kingsbridge Saint replied to Norm's topic in The Saints
Tadic is one of the main reasons we are going down. Him and Redmond were supposed to be supporting the lone striker. Never really happened yet picked every week. Easily replaced by Sims or Long now we are going 2 up top again. -
I heard the club were seriously considering an offer of £4.50 and a signed picture of Bobby Charlton for Tadic.
-
Probably a free hit this one and the next one. Only straws are Conte exiting and Arsenals Europa League. Two up front without Tadic and Redmond might work. Maybe 3-5-2 as Aubameyang is a short arse and it allows us to get shot of Cedric and Bertrand and bring in Yoshi. Romeu, Lemina and JWP in the middle. Sims and Boufal wide. Long and Austin up top.
-
Hughes is the manager, none of us. He needs to establish who is in and who is out. Some of those players today should never wear the shirt again. You can't play two up front when you have a couple of lightweight spuds like Tadic and Redmond in the side. Both should be hung out to dry. A glance at the table makes it clear we are nowhere near down yet, but things have to change on the pitch.
-
Win this and we have a really good chance of staying up. Lose and it's not all over. Let's play without fear. 1-2 to saints, playing in a positive manner under Hughes.

England fans will get a kicking from everyone, and will be specifically singled out. The police won't help and will probably help the Ultras find pockets of fans to smash. The British media will lap it up and blame the English fans. The Russians will have a propaganda victory and lots of England fans will get locked up until near Christmas. They will be brutalised in their Russian jails as well of course. The team will freeze as soon as there is anything to play for. Why bother? Qatar will be worse as well. Thanks Sepp.

Cedric Soares - Official: Loaned to Arsenal

Decent player. Has suffered more than most under the defensive shackles of the woeful Puel and inept Pellegrino. Great to see him bombing on again in the Wigan game. Those two managers could make Barcelona crap. -
Two games against Chelsea, which is more important?

If you go for League you clearly didn't feel the pain of that Adrian Heath goal. Cup for me. -
Lots of 'I know football tactics better than you' virtue signalling on this thread. Two up front did the business at the weekend. It needs to be in the armoury. What we don't want to do is get stale and predictable fielding one up front every week without change, ever, like the previous Goon. I trust Sparky to get it right more often than not. Great that our second goal was scored by an overlapping fullback - that hardly ever happened under Iron Pants Pellegrino. Two up front last Saturday was more about making a statement that we are prepared to change things.

Good to see us start with two up top. Won't be the answer every game, but not being pig headed and stubborn about it is a positive. Refreshing to see us still attacking whilst a goal up with the second goal scored by an overlapping fullback. Wouldn't have happened in a million years under Pellegrino. We have a decent shot at winning enough games to stay up under Hughes. Feeling a lot more positive. Boy does Tadic need to step up his game though. Sims is waiting for another chance... -

You have the same fear of failure as Pellegrino. You have even used the phrase 'controlled the game'. lol. -

Absolutely spot on with the call on left footed penalty takers. A right handed goalkeeper has a much better chance of saving a left footers penalty than any other combination. Unbelievable how unprofessional we are with penalties. -
Official..Southampton appoint Mark Hughes.
Kingsbridge Saint replied to saint lard's topic in The Saints
Sparky will empathise with the way we have left our lone striker isolated on the horizon. It'll either be two up top, or the shackles taken off Tadic, Redmond, Boufal and JWP. I don't mind either way, but get it forward quicker and get the opposition defenders turned around. Let's win a few 4-3. -
And that's where bone headed stubbornness and refusal to change in the face of overwhelming evidence gets you. Don't bang your arse on the door on the way out. And can I suggest whoever made the decision to appoint the last two managers is nowhere near the recruitment process this time.

Koeman?

Very winnable game. With the right tactics, team selection and a positive attitude on the pitch we could easily win this one. Needs a new Manager though, or none of those things will happen.
