We live in hope Charlie; provided that you keep fit and don't repeat that 1949 injury!
-
Anybody who is unsure of the reasons for buying Billy Sharp ought to read the thread about 1948- 49! Charlie Wayman injured and Saints surrendered an 8 point lead. I was there as a thirteen year old under the old West Stand at the Dell, when we lost against ( I think ) West Ham and Newcastle around Easter. My dad blamed the Directors and Bill Dodgin. Left me a trifle pessimistic! Fortunately, our present Directors and Manager seem to have a different agenda.

Well done, Donny! Presume S Gillett did his bit tonight for Saints. Very pleased with this week's results, so far.
-
What a win! I am only now getting my pulse rate back to normal. This - the result, not my heart rate- is surely the defining moment in our march on to promotion. Like Dave says, "This team will be promoted!"
-
"A" it has to be, then. Three administrations in living memory-two of those in quick succession. The recent CVA being obtained with some questions asked about the numbers. F A cup won by players beyond their financial means. Still building with quality over quantity and paying Premiership wages. Failing to pay Taxes, Charities local businesses, allegedly. Failing to comply with CVA terms I believe. Don't own their ground or car park, no training centre either. All right, we were lucky to get Marcus and NC when we were in the brown stuff; (we could have ended up with the administrator's "preferred bidder!) but ML and NC were shrewd business men and realised that the ASSETS were worth the effort of an investment. "A" will be better for them as it would mean a clean start for AFC P or whatever, hopefully without dubious ownership.

Any team which has been in administration and come out with a CVA that has not been adhered to, that cheated taxpayers, charities and local businesses, then proceeded to overspend itself into bankruptcy for a third time in recent memory. Can't think of three in that line though!

Now, I've spilled my tea! The TV people must have avoided any member of this forum, especially those who have read or contributed to Duncan's "Takeover Thread" in the Lounge.

Happy Birthday,Sir!

Great result, especially with the clean sheet. This was more like it! Like the team selection too.
-
Great!

I still have a sneaky feeling that they will "get away with it" and this thread has more miles to run! Thanks FF for prompting hours of fun (and anger too at the revelations of cheating exposed here.) when you started the thread.

P G Wodehouse comment. "It is never difficult to tell the difference between a ray of sunshine and a Scotsman with a grievance." ( Found this in a newspaper last Saturday, but it seemed worth repeating!) -
Agree with your comments about what the Saints "Don't want to do......" but I enjoy Dave's expert opinions and love his enthusiasm. He has been very supportive of Nigel throughout. His criticism has been constructive; even if we disagree with his arguments. I would like Adam Blackmore to concentrate on what is happening with the ball a bit more and know who is in possession or passing to whom, rather than hear what what someone has texted him. Basically, Solent do a fair job when we can't get to the match and I reckon the op was out of order. !

Like you suggest, I too, have for ever been scarred by the promotion chase of 1949. If my (elusive) memory is right, we had an 8 point leads in division two (as was) and it gradually disappeared before Easter. The belief of my Dad was that the directors then could not afford promotion. Doubt that this time:), but the lack of alternative striker is of concern. Perhaps our summer and loan window efforts were lacking. -
Very pleasing news. Well done Saints!

Under 18's v Pompey? have I missed this thread?
-
That tells a lot about about their fans then, does it not?
-
I have not voted because I thought they were all brilliant, including Nigel and his backroom staff. Nevertheless; well done Chappers!
-
Well, it is certainly good to be on the Saints 'bus these days!
-
Seconded. Best wishes,Wayne.
-
Congratulations, Bristol Saint and Mum too!
-
Get well soon, Dan. We hope and pray that you will make a full recovery and that Justice will be delivered to those responsible for your suffering.
-
Your post about the possible purchase of Rodrigues sums up my feelings exactly. There would still be enough left over to buy a decent left sided Central defender too. So far this summer we have had too many rumours and allegedly failed bids imo and now we need some to complete. (I am aware that signing Cork and maybe De Ridder was great news!)
-
The good news keeps on coming. Great times for Saints and their fans.

Looks like a unanimous "NO" then from us, but would obviously suit the spec for some teams as mentioned above.
