Well, that's a relief, then! A great signing imo as he has plenty of experience and some notable success already. Now for two goalkeepers, a right back, central defender and a winger who can cross the ball as well as beat Bolt over 50 metres.

All the best, Whitey Grandad! I always enjoy reading your posts and look forward to reading many more when you are back in action. Hope that you have some fit nurses to encourage a speedy recovery! (Smiley/winky thing)

That sounds like good news!

That is so true T-S! Still, MLG does post a lot of accurate stuff and I would be sorry myself if he was hounded out by abuse, since I enjoy most of what he writes up on here. After decades of being strugglers, we have had three years of relative success and if the owners and their executive chairman have major ambitions, Ill not object. I will still wait in hope rather than expectation.

Many pages ago, I declared that I would not get too excited until Jay Rodrigues had actually signed and this was shown on the OS. The speculation and the "paper talk" have been entertaining if predictable and sometimes irritating. Now however I am really happy about our new player; welcome JR! Hope that your Saints career will be very successful.

The Jack Butland stories in the papers probably originate from a journalist reading this forum on the HCDAJFU thread;imo!

If Jay Rodriguez does finally sign for us and it is subsequently announced on the club's OS, then I shall burst with excitement. Until then, however, belonging to the more pessimistic trend of Saints followers (despite the last three remarkable years! ) I shall wait, sort of patiently, hoping that this deal is completed. It is the triumph of hope over experience, you see.

Well, we could spare you Tommy provided you are still happy to send us Joe as a straight swop.

A lovely story. Hope that the little one makes a good recovery. Well done the players.

Fortunately, none of us will be consulted about the real retained list!

Mark fry and begbies traynor in the echo tonight

I share your cynicism on this. No doubt the administrators and solicitors all did well for themselves out of our admin, but just because they got rid of Rupert and Co I shall not be cheering them. From the BBC website, it appears that another group of admin and legal beavers have racked up a tidy sum of costs from an administration down the road! IMO the preferred status of Pinnacle in bidding for Saints was very unhelpful, but that is best forgotten as we are now where we are, back in the premiership. -

Would these be the people who chose Pinnacle as the preferred bidder three years ago? -
...............and it's a NO from me too.

Yes, two legends!

What a fantastic day! I have had a foreboding about being eight points above second since 1949 and we were there again at the beginning of this year. This time we are a different class and despite a few blips we have made it (promotion) in some style. Like a lot of us I felt quite emotional from the time we scored the second, but when I played the u tube clip from suewhistle (post29?) and heard OWTSGMI by L.Armstrong, I confess to tears of joy. Well done everybody and isn't our Nigel quite a legend already? :D:D:D I agree with the post about Gaby Logan being the best football presenter too!

I hate to tempt fate, since that has nasty habits regarding Saints, but a quiet confidence about Saturday's game and the result is growing by the hour for me. Just hope that the blood pressure does n't go off the scale!

Good fortune to Coventry; after about 2-45pm (small margin to be on the safe side ). Hopefully you will be well above Poopey all next season in L.1 !

So, Fat Sam is going to park a large steam engine in front of his goalmouth?

I love your posts Alps, but in the circumstances, perhaps "honey" would have been a better adjective to describe the blonde!

This is so true! Best to stick with the Adkins plan;"One game at a time." Still time for more twists yet.

Radio Solent has one true Saint; good on you, Dave! The rest, including Temple are pretty much of a blue hue. in my opinion of course and inclined to the, "Poor old, hard done by Poopey" school of realism. A number of times I've heard " In financial trouble like Saints were a few years ago," myth about their (Poopey's) fiscal incontinence. That said, I still like Solent....

This, especially as our full backs are not the quickest.

Having only watched on TV, I am hesitant to comment (moan!), but we did seem poor and lack any penetrative play. Too slow and unable to control the ball or pass it accurately, we failed to really test their defence never mind Gilks, in goal. I thought Fox had been a specialist penalty taker at Burnley and was sorry he did not do it. (Especially after Billy's nervous poke!) As Nigel has probably already said, "We move on." A number of changes for next week and hopefully, the cold or was it a 'Flu will will have moved down the other end of the m27.

At the age of 13, I think that that end of season left me devastated and never to take anything for granted! I remember Bill Ellerington as a great full back in that period though. Like the OP I shall join the pessimists until we are mathematically certain of (dare I say it?) promotion.
