Saints only (unless you count Cowes in the Hampshire League Div1 years ago!) since the War League South in 1945/6 season. This week, however, Exeter City are my second favourite!!!

Luke Shaw suffers double leg fracture against PSV
wightman35 replied to Singapore Saint's topic in The Saints
Exactly as you said. Get well soon, Luke. -
The BBC "Red Button" was just as bad on Football Headlines. Saw it in the morning, but news of JC signing had disappeared by the afternoon!

I was fortunate enough to watch Bill play for Saints quite a bit. He was such a stylish player and great defender. Sympathy to his family. RIP.

So finishing above Man U is more important than silverware?
wightman35 replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
So it will be nothing then. Feel sorry for the travelling fans who deserve a refund! Mind, the training video featuring certain players and missing others did give a hint of selection to come. Very disappointing day, but as a Saints fan we get used to that! -
The blogger on "emirates stadium" (Walter Broakx?) "Untold Arsenal" who did a breakdown of how good or bad Refs were ingiving benefits to Saints had one category entitled, "Worse than bad." Unsurprisingly, perhaps, who is sat in that group? Lee Mason, if I remember.

What an amazing transfer window; three significant internationals down the spine of the team in Lovren, Wanyama and now Daniel Osvaldo, but also the commitments of Shaw, Chambers and Ward Prowse. We do now seem to have strength in depth. I am loving being a Saints fan and I am not missing all the traumas which we endured under previous owners over many years. Thank you Markus and the Liebherr family. Thank you Nicola, your deeds do match your words! *****il now I have had a niggling doubt, but most of us have been a little bit hardened to disappointments over the decades!) Also, thanks to MP who has presumably convinced PDO to sign and to the team that started the season so well on Saturday!

From the commentary, Mr Friend the ref gave nearly all free kicks to WBA. This did not seem too surprising, as in the analysis on "Untold Arsenal" last season, I think Friend was listed as worse than bad from a Saints point of view! He then awarded the penalty for us.........ah well. Great goal, Ricky. Well done all the team today.
-
What Ottery said. Thanks for that!
-
Ricky Lambert; "Scourge of the Scots!" Well done, Sir.
-
Not really so, because everybody (well not quite everyone!) quotes him so he gets multi copies too. As "Pride of the South," we should be the Lions and have furry brown shirts and not look like Bristol City. Well, perhaps not..........
-
Congratulations Ricky! Well deserved reward and of course, best wishes on the birth of your (and Mrs Lambert's) new daughter. Quite a day to remember.

Alpine's question is, in my opinion, very thought provoking as most of us see a need for two or even three. To answer, though, I would pick STRIKER as it seems to me that we lack firepower/bite or what you will-an ability to take chances and half chances. This makes even an odd defensive error so costly. A creative winger/midfielder who knows how to score a goal would be a bonus, but striker would be my first choice.

Particularly is your word not mine. I was interested in the list on the Club's website and that is still my opinion, but feel free to disagree and indeed add snide remarks if that makes you feel better
-
Interesting to see the list of those who travelled today and those who did not.

Richard Chaplow for £50k must be one of our best buys of all time. Loved his commitment to the team whenever he played and the qualities he brought to the side. Good luck in your future career RC!
-
Great signing! Who is next? Jack Cork improved new deal? Luke Shaw tomorrow? Or.....?
-
But we could always buy a ticket at the turnstiles! Toilets best avoided if you had any olifactory sense though.

It was always such a joy to watch Ron play at the Dell and I was privileged to see him score some great goals and lead the line effectively. He was a real hero and a true star.. RIP
-
Very sad news. Condolences to Richard and his family.

Thanks for posting that Alehouseboys. I'm a DM fan too and imo he is one of the best summarisers commentators around on radio or tv. Yes he does worry about Saints conceding a goal after taking the lead; with good reason looking at the statistics. The fact that Dave is a real Saint with passion gives his professional opinions an edge. At least he does not repeat, "You Know." twenty or more times a minute as does a certain broadcaster reporting on Solent on Saturday afternoons!

This is absolutely right. Older fans will remember all those years after ww2 when we were in the old 2nd 0r 3rd divisions before Ted Bates built the team that took us into the top flight too. I will be much happier when we are Mathematically safe from relegation and would prefer Stoke rather than AV or Wigan to drop; even though that is unlikely.

Red and White Stripes Black Shorts next year
wightman35 replied to Horton Heath Saint's topic in The Saints
I think that this year's kit looks great on the team and the shirt as casual wear (For the young ones only!!) is stylish in my opinion. Stripes do look just a bit last century. -
Great news! After that save from Grant Holt, he deserved a reward. All his performances since the new year have been impressive. Onwards and upwards, then.
