Fraser just seems to be a bit static in his overall play. Granted he's never been the quickest off his line but given his size, he doesn't seem to command his area that well either. Thought some of his play last season was really good but seems to have gone backwards this season by comparison. Just seems out of sorts to me.

Exactly! It was a distraction technique prior to the game at Old Trafford, just a few mind games going on if you ask me.

When he is supposed to be the Senior Pro and Team Captain, not sure he is setting a great example but more than that, Virgil thus far is having to cover a lot of Fontes poor play, and is actually talking him through most of the games which is more the worry for me!

For us golden oldies Jeff Winter was always good for Saints, particularly when we played Moan United sent off Roy Keane in double quick time once at The Dell.....happy days:D

So is the formation wrong or is it the fact that we are not converting the chances the system is creating? Certainly the last two league games we should have won reasonably comfortably but for some poor finishing by long and Redmond. It will be interesting to see who gets dropped to accommodate Boufal let's hope it's not Charlie!!

Whilst Puel would not have been my first choice, I think we have to accept the fact that those closer to the club than us clearly made the appointment based on a number of criteria that they believed would keep the momentum of the club moving forward. Whilst what I have seen so far in the pre-season friendlies and the PL games hasn't produced the results I had hoped for, to trash It all after three league games seems a bit daft. I cannot believe that those involved in the appointment process would not have been aware that Puel would have suggested/endorsed a different playing style and system so the club new fairly early on that we were likely to embrace something new and the players would have to adapt. Since the PL came into being there have been many different systems used and deployed by different managers and we are no different and we have to accept the fact that in doing this results may not be instant. Keep the faith people we have come on a very successful journey and I can't imagine we are going to lose it all on one appointment and a different system.

How a few weeks ago we were lauding the club for extending players contracts and now we are in wrist slitting mode because we haven't signed a) another defender b) another midfielder c) another forward!!! I was trying to remain positive but, when Stoke seem to have had a better window then us then I must admit to feeling a tad let down.
