  1. Surprised your clouds have any edge at all. I imagine you looking up at one feckin huge one that reaches as far as the eye can see
  2. Bit premature to decide on him one way or the other. I also saw him at Palace and was impressed with him. Bright, positive with a good touch. Pity he had to support Forte that evening and not Ricky.
  3. Hardly unforgivable! I know alot on here don't rate him but I've been impressed the few times I've seen him up until today. Thought Hammond on the whole was a bit anonymous.
  4. Ffs. Why the feck was Guly still on the pitch?
  5. Gotta say Guly has been poor today. Lots of good possession like the Blackpool game but final ball and shot substandard again for the whole team.
  6. How long's Kelvin out for?
  7. Can't understand how we can have CM's on today and yet no protection for the back four. Hammond's been a passenger. Going forward, if the final ball had been better we could have had four. Final ball for our goal wasn't good either.
  8. Don't think I'm one of the usual brigade, but I'll have a little moan anyway. Not sure using the three centre mids together is right, doesn't seem to have worked recently. Think it would require a change of shape. Slightly concerned at the lack of keeper on the bench, or am I missing something?
  9. Exactly, I made a similar point on the last post match thread. Every team will go through a sticky patch or two over the course of the season. It's very rare that a title winning side has everything it's own way all season. ManU have often lost to pants sides then gone on to finish top. I'm not saying we'll definitely finish in the top two, just that knee jerk reactions to a couple of losses aren't going to help. If things go even worse over the next month then maybe we'll have reason to worry.
  10. I rest my case. Looking at ManU's form away from home last season (In which I believe they won the prem) W5 D10 L4. I'd say for ManU that was unacceptable, but it didn't do them any harm. In fact up to January they had only won one away game in the league. My point is that, while there are problems that need to be addressed our away form is not the end of the world. At the moment.
  11. Hardly, sums things up pretty well. Doesn't mean that we couldn't do with strengthening, as you keep harping on about. Unfortunately, yet again, any justified criticism you make is tainted by melodrama and sniping. Still, why let reason get in the way of a good windup eh? I mean, surely, you must be on a windup. It's the only answer. I refuse to believe that it's possible for anyone to be such a **** without trying.
  12. You mean you missed his earlier ones?
  13. Incredibly disappointing result but hardly worth slitting the wrists over. Agree with most others on here that Adkins made a mistake putting Morgan on when Chaplow got injured early on. Hopefully just a blip.
  14. Mark Bright, curse of the commentator.
  15. BBC reckons, two shots, both on target, two goals!
  16. Never really seen why these threads run counter to the post match reaction thread, but seeing as I am indeed 'just back from the game', I'll make a couple of points. I would agree with most of what The Wedge says. Fonte really was that bad. One good run but took the option to shoot straight at the keeper when he had two teammates unmarked in the middle. Ward-Prowse was composed on the ball, but after a couple of Hollywood passes that didnt come off, he began to play it rather too safe, always keeping possession but too many sideways and backwards balls. In fact this was pretty true of the team as a whole. SDR started well but seemed to get ****ed at the amount of buffeting he was receiving without protection from the ref. He Baganda to lose possession far too cheaply. I thought Reeves was class. He looked very sharp, good movement. Unfortunately Fonte wasn't pulling his weight. Butterfield was sloppy in possession, almost letting palace in with a dreadful pass in the second half. His crossing was also below par, mostly straight into the keeper's arms. On the whole, we controlled much of the match without really creating a great deal, in fact Palace probably created the better chances on top of their goals. Adkins made a mistake in leaving the substitutions until it was too late. Fonte should have been off after about ten mins of the second half. Finally, a special mention has to go to tonight's ref, who was so one sided it beggared belief (and no, that ain't sour grapes).
  17. Gotta say I can't believe Guly is still getting so much stick on here, he wasn't great but others were much worse. Lambert's link-up and hold-up play was non-existent and I won't even talk about energy and movement. Cork and Hammond weren't in the game and that's where I believe we so nearly lost all the points.
  18. Great to get a result after such an appalling performance, great show of character and could bode well in our search for promotion. Great performance from KD and SDR when he came on. Worried about the lack of protection for the defense. Window Cleaner, I can appreciate your point about the 'injury' to Fonte limiting NA's options, but we had no control of the match up to half time and were as bad after. I feel putting on Morgan early would have been bold given being left with only two subs but was vitally important.
  19. Lucky switching channels anyone?! After the sending off I decided my birthday weekend had been ruined enough. I've sworn so many times the missus isn't talking to me and the kids have wandered off. I believe that most of the wrist slitters have me down as a happy clappy, in fact I think Alpine may even have me on ignore. However, tonight just hasn't been good enough. NA really disappointed me. It was obvious most of the match that we had no ball retention or control of midfield. Schneiderlin should have been on at half time. When you are obviously second best, you keep it simple and retain possession. Get the opposition running about. We kept forcing things and giving up the ball. We can't keep attacking with eight out of ten outfield players.
  20. Apparently he tries to forget them at his age. Hopefully he won't forget this one for a while. On the subject of birthdays, happy birthday again Phil. Sorry for calling you Dave last night, it was all that talk about Merrington which momentarily flustered me. Anyway, hopefully I'll get my birthday goal on Saturday.
  21. Happy birthday Dave Seeing as you've had a birthday goal, how about one for me? It's not mine 'til Thurs but I could handle an early present!
  22. Why wierd? Try reading my reaction to Hypo's reply and maybe you'll see what I am getting at. Yep there are plenty of balanced opinions of what went on at the match, most by people who were there and not just listing in or watching the live text commentary on BBC or Sky. I agree with you about what this thread is about, unfortunately there are some who feel the need to post negatively without any basis in fact. They are the same faces that have been doing so for years, one of the reasons I post so irregularly these days. As I said earlier we all know where our weakest area is. Injuries and the Seabourne incident have made things worse. It seems that we tried to address the problems during the transfer window which would indicate that NA also recognises where we need to strengthen. If we fail to put things right in January or through loans and we miss out on promotion as a result we'll all be sick as parrots I agree. In the meantime I'll try to look at things logically. We would be level with Brighton and unbeaten if not for a referee error in the Leicester match, not a bad start in my book. In yesterday's match we won against a team who have been struggling to get results but who will probably be in the thick of the promotion shake-up come the end of the season (sound a bit like us last season?). We did so with a patched up back line including a player who has only just joined the club and obviously wasn't Nigel's first choice for the position. We ground out a result from a tough situation, a sign of mental toughness. From the sound of it Nigel saw what the problems were during the match and made changes which got us the win.
  23. Did I say there was? Not got a problem with differences of opinion or criticism, if it's constructive or well thought out. Unfortunately there are far too many on here who form opinions on the basis of very little knowledge and then state them as fact. Even a pin sticker will pick a winning horse occasionally, doesn't mean they know anything about horse racing.
  24. Christ, this place never changes, it's like bloody groundhog day. Same old faces with same old knee jerk reactions and in most cases without even watching the match. No, I wasn't there either so can't comment on the performance, but you've got to be pretty small minded to be nitpicking after winning five out of our first six matches. Yep, it's obvious where we need to strengthen and maybe we should have done so before the window closed, but if the players won't come or we're being held to ransom what do you expect. It's great to see someone running the club responsibly after where we've been in recent times. I trust in Nigel to get things right, let's face it, hasn't done much wrong so far.
  25. I'd have thought we need to control the game more. Maybe a switch of formation might be better, get Morgan on alongside Hammond and Cork and go 4-3-3.
